Volume 3 + Chapter 88: Dream
“Where are you all? Come out at once!!” Xia Yi shouted loudly.
But nobody answered her.
Under normal circumstances, even if none of the royal maids responded, the palace guards of the Dragon Kingdom would still gather around to ask Xia Yi if she had any orders.
Yet this time, none of the guards could be seen anywhere in the Dragon Palace.
Though the Dragon Palace wasn’t very crowded at the best of times, Xia Yi still loved being there—it was always full of joy and happiness each day.
Now, however, the palace was eerily silent, as though no one remained inside.
Xia Yi was beginning to grow anxious.
“Could it be a prank?”
“No, there’s no way they’ve all left.”
“It must be because Xia Lulu knows I’m back and is playing tricks on me—I won’t fall for it. I’ll find out where you are!”
The young little sovereign tried her best to suppress her anxious emotions and started running through the Dragon Palace.
She had never felt how vast this palace truly was.
The unbearable quiet was like an ocean that filled the entire world, making it feel impossible to take a step forward—each stride felt so heavy.
“I’ll go back to my room. Serra is definitely waiting for me there!”
The little silver-haired dragon girl rushed back to her room and threw the door open.
“Serra, I’m back! You can welcome me now. The prank ends here!”
The room was arranged as always. Every single item was neatly in place, not a speck of dust. Even the small dragon plushie on the bed was spotlessly clean, as though it was wiped daily in anticipation of the silver dragon sovereign’s return.
But where was the person who should be there welcoming her?
Xia Yi couldn’t sense Serra’s presence.
“Serra’s not here—could she be in the royal maids’ lounge?”
She began talking to herself.
“She must be there…”
She left the room and headed to the royal maids’ lounge.
In the corridor, the courtyard outside gleamed with sunlight, but although no one was there to appreciate it, the flowers still bloomed joyfully.
Usually the clumsy maids would be busy cleaning all over the palace, but today, not a single one was in sight.
“No, this can’t be…”
Xia Yi comforted herself inwardly.
She arrived at the royal maids’ lounge and found it completely empty. She went to the wardrobe—but the nameplates on it had all been erased.
“…they’re gone.”
Xia Yi looked around in confusion, unable to recognize the familiar names.
“Serra would never leave without a word. Maybe they’re on holiday?”
After all, it’s possible the royal maids were on break. They usually worked so hard—unlike her, who liked to slack off. Maybe they’d gone out together to have fun.
“Yes, that must be it. I shouldn’t be here looking for them. I should be searching for Xia Lulu.”
Xia Lulu was different from anyone else in the Dragon Palace.
She was the Dragon King, the mightiest silver dragon queen.
At this moment, no one could really defeat her. No one was stronger or tougher—and Xia Lulu would only face defeat when someone bested her.
As Dragon King, Xia Lulu never took time off—she was always at work, handling state affairs.
Others might get holidays, but not her.
She must be busy in her office, buried in paperwork!
“Even if Xia Lulu doesn’t admit it, after being apart from me for so long, she must be missing me so much!”
Xia Yi made up her mind—she would go find Xia Lulu.
She left the royal maids’ lounge and made her way to the office she had visited many times.
In that office, there were many memories of her and Xia Lulu.
They had sparred there many times—even though most of the time Xia Yi had been at a disadvantage… She always felt like she had a chance to fight back, but missed the opportunity.
So today, she will adjust her mindset and win this round.
With that thought, the young little sovereign forced a smile and told herself to keep her heart full of hope, then pushed open the door.
“Xia Lulu, I’m back!”
Silence…
No one is at the desk in the office.
Not a single document was left behind.
In an instant, Xia Yi’s smile vanished—she could hardly accept what she saw.
“Don’t be—don’t be nervous! The office might just be empty. Xia Lulu goes to other places normally, like the back garden, or the library, or her bedroom! I haven’t checked those places yet, so it doesn’t mean anything!”
Unaware of it, Xia Yi’s voice began to tremble without her realizing it.
She proceeded to visit several more locations in succession.
But… Xia Lulu was nowhere to be found.
Xia Yi first tried to reassure herself forcibly, but later fell silent, unable to utter a single word.
She felt her body grow heavy, unable to take another step. Before she knew it, she had arrived at the palace’s main hall and stood in front of the Dragon King’s throne.
She stared at the throne, unable to speak for a moment.
Creak—
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a door being opened.
Someone was entering!
Xia Yi immediately felt a surge of surprise. She turned around and saw a girl.
“Eh…?”
It was a green dragon girl.
Her appearance was nearly identical to the green dragon maid, Elly, so Xia Yi instantly recognized her—but somehow sensed that this wasn’t her familiar Elly.
She had grown taller, looked more mature, and carried an aura that the bumbling little maid had never had.
“Your Majesty, what are you doing here?” the unfamiliar green dragon maid gazed at Xia Yi in astonishment.
Your Majesty?
Xia Yi looked around in confusion—Xia Lulu’s figure was nowhere to be seen.
Could she have mistaken the person?
“I’m not the Silver Dragon Queen—I’m Xia Yi,” Xia Yi said.
“Indeed, Your Majesty. You are the Silver Dragon Queen, our Dragon King. I, too, am your loyal maid. Elly—I definitely do not have the wrong person.”
Elly bowed to Xia Yi.
Xia Yi stood stunned.
For a while, she couldn’t understand what this “Elly” was saying.
“Elly, I have questions for you!”
“Your Majesty, please ask—there is nothing I will not answer. It is my duty.”
“Where has everyone else gone?”
“Your Majesty, when you say ‘everyone else,’ you mean…?”
“The other members of the royal maid corps—Serra, Lucia, Atiya… and so on—everyone except you!”
The usually calm “Elly” trembled all over, evidently shocked by Xia Yi’s question.
Before she could reply, Xia Yi pressed her questions further, eager for answers. “And Xia Lulu—by my order, answer me! Where has Xia Lulu gone?!”
The green dragon maid’s eyes wavered. She suppressed her emotions and, after a moment of silence, respectfully looked at Xia Yi and slowly began to speak.
“To report to Your Majesty…”
