Volume 3 + Chapter 7: The Rich Loli, So Terrifying!
Xia Yi took out a box, and the moment she opened it, multicolored lights burst forth from within.
Inside were crystal stones of various attributes.
There were fiery reds representing the fire attribute, deep blues for water, snowy whites for ice…
The moment he saw those glowing crystals, Keith completely lost his composure. His expression changed drastically, and he nearly jumped out of his seat.
“Th-this is?!”
Keith’s breathing grew rapid.
Though his family had fallen on hard times, he was still a noble, and prided himself on his knowledge and experience. He instantly recognized these attribute crystal stones as extraordinary.
Normally, crafting weapons or magic scrolls required the use of attribute-infused magic stones.
And among them, depending on their characteristics, magic stones came in many varieties.
The most sought-after by nobles were crystal stones.
Unlike other ores that required complex processing, high-quality crystal stones could even be directly used in crafting luxury goods. Compared to regular luxuries, items made with crystal stones were far more eye-catching. At upper-class noble parties, wearing them could easily make you the star of the show.
When Xia Yi opened the box, the stones inside emitted a soft glow on their own. That alone proved they were exceptionally high-quality. From appearance alone, there wasn’t a single impurity inside—high purity, and vastly superior to other crystal stones.
Keith was practically drooling. He stared longingly at the little mage before him.
“Miss Xia Yi, this is…?”
Xia Yi made a small motion—and Keith’s heart skipped a beat!
She pushed the box slightly forward.
That action clearly meant—
“This is a greeting gift. I hope you’ll accept it, Mr. Keith. After all, I may be troubling the Lawrence family for a while,” Xia Yi said.
Bullseye!
Keith beamed. “Miss Xia Yi, you’re far too kind!! A gift this valuable, we really can’t possibly accept!!”
“It’s not that valuable, not at all. Just a small token of appreciation,” Xia Yi said. “Lucia couldn’t come in person because of work, so she entrusted me to pass this on to the Lawrence family. You’ve been long-time partners, after all.”
She was being completely honest. These crystal stones weren’t even hers—they were given to her by Lucia. She had no use for them, so why not give them to the Lawrence family?
To humans, these might be rare treasures—but among the dragon race, they were nothing special.
“Well, since you’ve said so much, I understand. Servants, take Miss Xia Yi’s gift!”
Keith stood up and called for servants from outside. He had them carefully collect the crystal stones, even specifically reminding them to handle with care.
“Understood, Lord Keith. Please rest assured,” the servant replied.
“By the way, where’s my niece?” Keith asked. “Didn’t I say she should come and help greet our distinguished guest?”
“Milady said… she’s practicing swordsmanship… no time…”
“Tch! Practicing? At a time like this? Go call her over—she needs to meet Miss Xia Yi!”
“Yes, Lord Keith!” the servant replied and left.
Keith had long been fed up with his niece. She never listened, always going against him. If not for his late brother’s will, he wouldn’t even bother managing her!
But what mattered most now was how to properly host the young lady before him.
After all, both she and the force behind her were the financiers currently keeping the Lawrence family afloat.
Although this group with unclear origins and backgrounds gave Keith an uneasy feeling deep down, the money they provided was just too much to ignore.
And since this money was helping the Lawrence family survive, he wouldn’t dig too deep.
“Miss Xia Yi, do you know how Miss Lucia has been doing lately?” Keith returned to his seat.
“Lucia’s been quite busy recently,” Xia Yi replied. “But she said that once she has the chance to return to the Rhine Kingdom, she’ll visit the Lawrence family in person. She’s always praised how capable and excellent the Lawrence family is.”
“Haha, Miss Lucia still thinks so highly of us! We’re very grateful to her. Without her support, our family would’ve sunk long ago,” Keith said. Then he paused. “May I ask, Miss Xia Yi—is there anything the Lawrence family can help you with?”
“Well, I’ve been traveling for a while, and now that I’m back in the Rhine Kingdom, I want to start over. But my current identity is a little awkward—it might create some obstacles. That’s when Lucia mentioned your Lawrence family to me…”
“What is your relationship with Miss Lucia?” Keith asked curiously.
From the way Xia Yi spoke, it sounded like Lucia held her in very high regard.
“Lucia is my family’s maid.”
“…Maid?!”
Keith almost shouted in disbelief.
What the hell? If even her maid is that powerful, then how terrifying must the power behind her be?!
Add to that the little girl in front of him—clearly a rich loli, yet with an air of innate nobility. The more he thought about it, the scarier it seemed!
“What’s wrong? You don’t believe me?” Xia Yi asked, then took out the Lawrence family crest Lucia had given her.
“This is definitely the emblem we originally gave to Miss Lucia… Miss Xia Y—Miss!”
Keith nearly changed what he was about to say and started calling her ancestor.
“If you don’t mind, from now on, you can operate under the Lawrence family name. Just say publicly that you’re a distant relative of ours. I’ll help you get the proper documentation for your identity as soon as possible.”
“Then I’ll trouble you, Mr. Keith. From now on, I am… Xia Yi · Lawrence. With the noble status of the Lawrence family, my activities in the Rhine Kingdom will go much more smoothly.”
Xia Yi was starting to understand why Lucia didn’t like these nobles.
They were the kind who’d turn into sycophants the moment you flashed some gold. As long as the money was right, their attitude could flip in an instant.
The key issue was—within the dragon race, strength dictated authority. But to stay undercover, Lucia, as a powerful dragon, couldn’t flex her strength in the human world at all. That really was unfair to her.
“Miss Xia Yi, the Lawrence family has always been your loyal partner. Please rest assured!”
Trying to please her, Keith began buttering her up enthusiastically.
“All of the tasks your side has entrusted to us—we’ve always completed them seriously. Even this year, as per Miss Lucia’s instructions, we transferred the funds in January under the Lawrence family’s name.”
Xia Yi was actually quite curious. Lucia’s activities in the human world were all directed by Sharuru—and this was top-secret stuff, known to very few.
And now, she had a chance to uncover the truth from Keith.
She really wanted to see—what kind of evil plot the wicked Silver Dragon Queen had been secretly scheming all this time!
“Oh? And what was that?”
Keith revealed the truth.
After hearing it, Xia Yi stood frozen, her mind a complete mess. It took her a long moment before she came back to her senses.
“…What did you just say?”
