Volume 3 + Chapter 51: I Don’t Care
“Headmaster.”
“Hmm?”
“What do you plan to do about disciplining Xia Yi and Yue Liu?”
The dormitory teacher was standing inside the headmaster’s office, asking directly.
She had just finished reporting the entire incident from today.
Xia Yi had excellent entrance scores, and Yue Liu’s background seemed rather complicated. Out of caution, she felt it necessary to notify the academy leadership.
It just so happened that the headmaster was in his office today, so she came straight to him.
“Why not calm down first? Need something to eat? I always keep some snacks in my office.”
The headmaster set down his newspaper.
His demeanor was calm and gentle — completely different from the spirited, battle-thirsty persona he had shown during the opening ceremony.
“No need, Headmaster. I just want to know — how do you plan to discipline those two?”
“Discipline them? Why?”
“Because Xia Yi and Yue Liu engaged in inappropriate behavior in the dormitory!” the dorm teacher said sternly. “Now, many students across the academy have heard about it. We must issue some form of punishment.”
But the headmaster didn’t get angry. Instead, he smiled.
“I don’t think there’s any need for disciplinary action.”
“What?” The dorm teacher was stunned.
“Yue Liu’s background is… not exactly simple.”
“Headmaster, are you saying you want to cover for her because of that?” The dorm teacher refused to back down.
“At Laurel Tree Academy, all students must be treated equally. Even if she got in through special channels, that doesn’t mean she should receive special privileges.”
“No, that’s not what I mean. Because of her background, her worldview is different from ours. What happened may not have seemed inappropriate to her — perhaps it’s something she’s quite used to.”
“Well, that may be the case… but we still can’t just ignore it—”
“But our Laurel Tree Academy has never banned students from dating each other, has it?” the headmaster countered.
“Even if Xia Yi and Yue Liu are both girls, they still have the freedom to fall in love.”
The dorm teacher was left speechless.
To be fair — it was true.
At most, the incident amounted to wrecking the dorm room. As long as no one was injured, small scuffles like that were common at Laurel Tree Academy.
Students only needed to cover the repair costs. It wasn’t a violation of the rules.
Laurel Tree Academy was nothing like those other strict, rule-heavy schools.
“Still, Headmaster… we can’t just let this slide. They’ve already had a negative influence on the school environment.”
“It wouldn’t be appropriate to completely ignore it,” the headmaster nodded. “Bring them here to see me.”
—
Xia Yi was caught off guard when Yue Liu suddenly brought it up.
“Who are you talking about?”
“The vampire princess, of course! From the Crimson Empire — don’t you remember?”
The Vampire Princess of the Crimson Empire, Miu Miu Borgia.
Of course Xia Yi remembered.
In a way, the two of them had known each other for quite a long time.
Back when Xia Yi was the Sword Saint of the human race, she had shared a secret past with Miu Miu.
Later, after being invited by the vampires, she and Xia Lulu had gone to the Crimson Empire and encountered her again — where Miu Miu had recognized her true identity.
She was, aside from Xia Lulu, the only girl who knew she used to be a human Sword Saint.
What Xia Yi couldn’t figure out was — why was Yue Liu suddenly bringing her up?
“Why are you asking this out of the blue?” Xia Yi asked.
“I just want to know what your attitude toward the Vampire Princess is!”
“Huh?”
Xia Yi was completely thrown by how abruptly the topic had shifted.
“You said… you’re not into girls, right?” Yue Liu looked a little anxious.
“Right,” Xia Yi nodded.
Girls are just a nuisance! They only get in the way of becoming the world’s number one swordsman!
A Sword Saint doesn’t need romance.
As long as she had her Holy Sword, that was enough.
“But I already saw it in international news — you and the Vampire Princess seemed really… ambiguous. And you even… kissed.”
Yue Liu stared at Xia Yi intently.
She’d been bothered by this ever since she first heard about it.
She refused to believe that her fated rival could be wrapped up with the Vampire Princess!
“Did that really happen?”
“Why are you so concerned about this?”
“I-I’m not really concerned!” Yue Liu answered defensively.
“It just popped into my head, and I figured I’d casually ask! You say you’re not into girls, but then act all flirty with the Vampire Princess — it’s contradictory!”
She hugged her plush bear to her chest and tried to act completely indifferent.
But the way she bit her lip and how tense she looked betrayed her true feelings.
“I didn’t kiss her. That was just a misunderstanding.”
The moment Xia Yi said this, Yue Liu’s expression brightened into a radiant smile.
It felt like a heavy weight had been lifted from her chest, and her spirits instantly rose.
“Really!? So you and her aren’t… a yuri couple?”
“Nope.”
“Then I guess I worried for nothing.”
Yue Liu let out a sigh of relief.
Hmph!
As expected, nothing could surpass the intense rivalry between her and Xia Yi.
There was no room for any other girls to interfere!
“What were you worried about?” Xia Yi asked.
“Ah? I-I wasn’t thinking anything at all!” Yue Liu turned her head away.
Xia Yi truly didn’t get it.
What a weird fox radish.
Maybe she had a past grudge with a flying bat or something?
Were foxes and bats natural enemies?
Maybe.
But Xia Yi really didn’t care about other people’s little dramas.
What did come to mind, though…
She pulled out the seed Miu Miu had given her. She’d always kept it on her.
It lay quietly in her palm, unchanged — just like before.
Even now, she still didn’t understand why Miu Miu had given her this seed.
“You two.”
Xia Yi heard the dorm teacher’s voice and quickly tucked the seed away.
Yue Liu looked up as well.
The dorm teacher had returned — and her expression was very dark.
“Go to the headmaster’s office. He wants to speak with you himself.”
Leaving those words behind, the dorm teacher left, clearly in a foul mood.
Xia Yi and Yue Liu looked at each other.
“Why the headmaster’s office?”
“I don’t think it’s just about losing credits anymore,” Yue Liu said.
—
The two of them made their way to the headmaster’s office.
Xia Yi recalled how battle-hungry the headmaster had seemed during the entrance ceremony and hoped her credits wouldn’t take too big of a hit.
“You’re both here?”
The headmaster stood up from his seat. His tone surprised both girls.
Xia Yi and Yue Liu greeted him politely.
He nodded and motioned for them to sit down.
“I’ve already heard about what happened from the dorm teacher. I have a general idea of the situation.”
Xia Yi let out a resigned sigh.
No point in wasting time — might as well get to the point.
“Headmaster, what’s our punishment?”
The headmaster simply smiled and didn’t answer right away.
“Headmaster, you’re not going to separate me and my rival, are you?!” Yue Liu said, panicking.
“If that’s the case, I won’t allow it!”
