Volume 3 + Chapter 32: Brainstorming
Arriving at the strongest academy in the Rhine Kingdom — Laurel Tree Academy!
So beautiful, the Laurel Tree Academy.
However, before Xia Yi had even stepped through the academy gates, someone called out to her.
“Xia Yi, we meet again.”
That voice…
Xia Yi quickly turned around, and sure enough, she saw a familiar face.
Lia Schubert.
Her former “sister” from the Schubert family.
What surprised Xia Yi was that Lia was also wearing the Laurel Tree Academy uniform?
She had actually run into her sister at the same academy.
It was something she had never expected — she was stunned on the spot.
“Perhaps, this is fate’s encounter, right, Xia Yi?” A smile appeared on Lia’s face.
The attitude she displayed toward Xia Yi was enough to shock those around them.
Quite a few people stopped and began watching.
“Lia-senpai knows that freshman?”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa — this seems like a big deal!”
“Lia-senpai always acts aloof toward everyone. Even the neighboring country’s prince got the cold shoulder, but toward that freshman, she’s this warm?”
Xia Yi could tell — Lia was absolutely famous at Laurel Tree Academy. Practically a celebrity-level figure.
It made sense. As the eldest daughter of the Schubert family — one of the four great families of the Rhine Kingdom — beautiful, and apparently talented in many fields, it was impossible not to attract attention.
Originally, the Schubert family had intended to raise their first heir to eventually inherit the family.
However, an accident occurred — the first heir fell into a coma, with no sign of waking.
Normally, at that point, the Schuberts would’ve chosen another successor from the remaining heirs.
But there was a problem.
Although some of the remaining heirs showed decent talent, compared to the heirs of the other three great families, the gap was far too wide.
Take, for example, the Frost family’s “Knight Princess.”
She was destined to become a hero, to make history. Ordinary prodigies couldn’t even compare.
Those with “decent” talent simply paled in comparison to true heroes.
The Schubert family became deeply worried. If their next heir’s abilities lagged too far behind, the family’s future competitiveness would decline, and they’d eventually lose out to the other houses.
After all, a powerful family must plan not just for the present, but for decades — even a century — into the future.
Thus, the Schuberts secretly initiated a three-part plan:
- Keep the first heir alive, however slim the chance, hoping they might someday awaken.
- Search the human world in secret for exceptionally gifted children, adopt them into the family, and raise them to become heroes belonging to House Schubert.
- Continue raising promising backup heirs from within the remaining family members.
Wright was part of Plan Two.
And Plan Three — was Lia.
Her talents, at least, were recognized.
Her popularity at Laurel Tree Academy was understandable.
“What’s wrong? Not happy to see me?” Lia stepped up to Xia Yi. “We’ve always been looking forward to the day we could meet again.”
“Wh-What is going on here!!”
Norma was completely stunned.
This was the Schubert family! Compared to her own Lawrence family, the difference was like heaven and earth. She never even had the chance to speak to someone like Lia before.
Yet now, Lia was actively approaching Xia Yi?
It was just too hard to comprehend.
“Xia Yi, how do you know Lia-senpai?!”
“I… I met Lia once at the Spring Breeze Orphanage,” Xia Yi said.
“That’s right. That time, Xia Yi was just too cute, and it caused a bit of a misunderstanding,” Lia said, blinking. “At the time, I wanted to… hehe, but it didn’t work out.”
Too cute?
Misunderstanding?
Wanted to…?
Didn’t work out?!
Norma was completely baffled.
Could it be that Xia Yi had used her looks to do something questionable to Lia? Maybe seduced her?
Highly possible!!
The young lady whose dream had once been to become a great knight — and was now a maid — was having a full-on brainstorm session.
That little loli is clearly full of tricks. She probably pulled some bait-and-hook move on Lia — yes, this is called seducing the top!
Just like when she intentionally kicked her shoe off and made Norma help her put it on.
“Xia Yi, you didn’t do something bad to Lia-senpai, did you?!” Norma asked, flustered.
Lia’s phrasing had too many possible meanings — and it definitely piqued the curiosity of the surrounding crowd.
Everyone loves gossip, and there has already been speculation.
Lia was super popular at Laurel Tree Academy — she’d been pursued by many, including quite a few outstanding young men. But she had never given anyone the time of day.
Some even theorized that Lia… was into girls.
But since she had never addressed the issue, the rumor eventually fizzled out.
Now, though, everyone was watching this scene with subtle excitement.
Who doesn’t want to see two cute girls getting close?.jpg
“Bad thing? I wouldn’t say that,” Lia said. “If anything, what I did to Xia Yi was bad. I just hope she doesn’t mind.”
That bombshell only stirred the crowd more.
“What?! It was Lia-senpai who made the first move?!” Norma shouted, her face already turning red.
Xia Yi didn’t even know what to say anymore.
Her sister had never been willing to talk to her much. In her memory, Lia had barely even called her “sister,” always keeping her distance.
Xia Yi had always thought it was because she’d stolen Lia’s spot as heir — that she was hated.
But now?
Now that she had become a twin-tailed loli, Lia — who didn’t know her true identity — was proactively getting close, and showing intense interest…
Crap. This is seriously bad.
Xia Yi just wanted to get out of here as fast as possible, avoid talking to Lia, and stay far away from her sister!
But what could she do now? Was there any way to escape?
Xia Yi looked around. The crowd at the academy gates had only grown. People inside were watching, and outsiders who didn’t know what was happening had gathered to see the commotion.
This was practically turning into a full-on stage play.
Suddenly—
“What are you all doing here?”
With a questioning voice, a new figure appeared.
Xia Yi’s eyes lit up.
Her savior had arrived!
