Volume 3 + Chapter 141: Bully Xia Yi
The three-person team had originally planned to leave.
After all, they had worked hard for so long, nearly breaking through the monster’s defenses. With just a little more effort, they might have defeated it.
But then, out of nowhere, someone swooped in and stole the kill.
Given that this person had also saved them, they couldn’t exactly lash out.
How could they not feel frustrated?
“Yeah, we defeated the Stormfang Wolf. Its monster emblem is in our hands. What about it?” Kobe replied irritably.
“Xia Yi, why are you asking this?”
James, as the team leader, was also puzzled.
Hearing their confirmation, Xia Yi grew even happier.
“Great, that saves time. I want the Stormfang Wolf’s monster emblem!”
“You… want it?”
James frowned.
“Xia Yi, are you suggesting you want to trade the Rampaging Tortoise emblem you just got for ours?”
“Trade? No, no, no.”
Xia Yi raised her hand, slowly clenching it into a fist.
“I want it all!”
“What do you mean by that?”
The three-person team was stunned.
“Xia Yi, even if you helped us earlier, we already let you take the Rampaging Tortoise emblem. That’s more than enough! Asking for the Stormfang Wolf emblem on top of that is just greedy!” James snapped.
“Do you even understand what you’re saying?”
Kobe gripped his twin swords.
“You just stole the kill—don’t think you single-handedly took down the Rampaging Tortoise!! If we hadn’t worn down its stamina and defenses first, how could you have broken through its shell?! Letting you have the Rampaging Tortoise emblem was already generous!!”
“Yeah, Xia Yi, don’t push your luck,” Frank sneered.
No one would be happy about handing their hard-earned victory to someone else.
“Let’s go.”
James didn’t want to escalate things further and motioned for the team to leave.
Snap.
Xia Yi flicked her fingers.
Several walls of fire erupted, blocking the trio’s path.
“What’s… the meaning of this?”
James stopped and slowly turned around.
“The exam handbook never said students aren’t allowed to fight each other in the Ruins Forest. Today, you’re not leaving with that Stormfang Wolf emblem.”
As she spoke, Xia Yi took out the Rampaging Tortoise emblem and tossed it aside.
“I’ll give you a chance—so no one can say I bullied you. Win, and you get the Rampaging Tortoise emblem. Lose, and hand over the Stormfang Wolf emblem.”
The three were somewhat surprised.
They glanced at the Rampaging Tortoise emblem, then at Xia Yi’s expression.
“HAHAHAHAHA!!”
Kobe couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“We were just worrying about how to make up for losing the highest-point grass-type emblem, and here you are, handing us a solution!”
“Xia Yi, there are three of us. You’re alone,” James added, also laughing.
Of course they wanted it—who wouldn’t?
But who could’ve expected her to deliver herself to them like this?
Refusing would be a sin!
“Because we’re the Three-Person Team! Whether it’s an army or just one person, we face them together—as three!” Frank chimed in.
“I’m serious. Come at me,” Xia Yi replied.
“Fine!!”
Kobe, afraid Xia Yi might back out, snatched the Stormfang Wolf emblem from James and threw it next to the Rampaging Tortoise emblem.
“Winner takes both!” Kobe declared, brimming with confidence.
Their team’s strength was undeniable.
Having defeated the Stormfang Wolf—the strongest lightning-type monster—proved that. Their earlier struggle was only because the Rampaging Tortoise was a bad matchup for their composition.
Could Xia Yi possibly be tougher than the Rampaging Tortoise?
“Kobe, I remember Xia Yi took some swordsmanship classes. Her grades weren’t bad,” James noted.
“That’s true, but remember—two fists can’t beat four hands, let alone six. The two of us can hold her off while Frank attacks from the rear. No matter how strong she is, one person can’t beat three,” Kobe analyzed.
“Right.”
James nodded in agreement.
“But given her earlier performance, let’s at least show some respect and go all out!”
“Got it! Three-Person Team—attack!!”
Frank raised his staff and began chanting a spell.
James and Kobe entered combat stances, taking the frontlines just like when fighting monsters—treating Xia Yi as a boss to be taken down.
“Lightning Whirlwind Slash!!”
“Furious Thunder Fist!!”
Both unleashed their strongest moves.
Even if she could block one, she couldn’t block both.
And Frank was still casting his spell in the back.
They couldn’t think of a single way they’d lose.
James and Kobe coordinated flawlessly, flanking Xia Yi from both sides, cutting off all escape routes. Sword aura and fist wind closed in on the black-haired loli.
“Stone Iron Spears!”
Frank finished his chant, unleashing his elemental magic. Sharp stone lances, forged from earth mana, shot toward Xia Yi.
This was a guaranteed kill.
“We’ve won!”
That was the unanimous thought in all three minds.
“Don’t blink,” Xia Yi murmured.
“What?!”
Frank and Kobe froze in shock.
Xia Yi had vanished. Their attacks hit nothing, and Frank’s spears nearly struck his own teammates instead.
“Where did she go?!” Frank yelled.
“Here.”
Xia Yi stood behind Frank.
A chill ran down his spine, but before he could turn—
Thud!
A single, simple strike knocked him out.
“How…? We couldn’t even keep up with her speed?!” James said in disbelief.
“Had enough fun?”
Xia Yi drew an iron sword and advanced toward James and Kobe.
Normal Attack!
Normal Attack!
Two basic swings later, James and Kobe were defeated—utterly helpless.
Pitting two freshmen from Laurel Academy against a swordmaster who had reached the pinnacle of human swordsmanship?
There was never any chance.
This was blatant, unfair smurfing.
“You… you…!!” James lay on the ground, seething with resentment.
But the outcome was already decided.
Xia Yi walked over, picking up both the Stormfang Wolf and Rampaging Tortoise emblems, holding them with satisfaction.
“Our Stormfang Wolf emblem!!” Kobe roared in frustration.
“Oh, right. Now you don’t have a lightning-type emblem anymore. Your score might take a hit…”
Xia Yi sighed sympathetically.
Then, she smiled.
“Here—this is one I got earlier. I don’t need it now, so I’ll give it to you. No need to thank me!”
The trio stared at the Lightning Slime emblem she tossed them, their lungs about to explode from rage.
They’d been completely outplayed by this seemingly harmless but secretly scheming loli.
Instead of hunting monsters properly, she was using underhanded tactics to secure first place.
She was nothing, but a bully!!
James, furious, shouted, “Xia Yi, you tyrant!! This isn’t over! I’ll gather other teams and take back every emblem you stole—using your own methods against you!”
“The exam handbook never forbids this! We’ll unite! We must punish this behavior—fight fire with fire!”
“There’s no way she can take on all of us alone!!”
Kobe and Frank, equally enraged, fully supported their leader’s plan and prepared to act.
Hearing this, Xia Yi seemed surprised.
Oh? This could work out even better?
