Volume 3 + Chapter 120: In The Name of Humanity
This was a situation Xia Yi had never anticipated.
Her former younger sister was actually trying to coerce her into staying by her side?
If she refused, the other party would use the Schubert family’s influence to pressure her forcefully.
So, should she obediently comply?
Xia Yi hesitated.
On the surface, it seemed that following Lia’s demands and staying by her side wouldn’t lead to any trouble…
“I…”
“Speak your mind, Xia Yi.” Lia’s smile widened.
She didn’t believe Xia Yi had any room to refuse.
This was a choice without alternatives.
But—
“I refuse!!” Xia Yi declared loudly.
“What?”
“I won’t obey you, Lia!”
The little princess’s gaze didn’t waver in the slightest as she stared straight at her former younger sister.
“Why?” Lia was stunned.
Why?
Hmph.
Wasn’t it obvious?
Xia Yi couldn’t care less.
Even when facing the strongest supreme ruler of the upper races—the Silver Dragon Queen, Xia Lulu—she hadn’t yielded one bit.
If even Xia Lulu couldn’t make her submit, let alone her former younger sister.
The word “submit” simply didn’t exist in her dictionary!!
“No reason, Lia. If I had to say, it’s just three words, I don’t want to!” Xia Yi stated bluntly. “That alone makes it impossible for me to obey you!”
“How dare you…”
“Lia, I’ve done nothing to wrong you,” Xia Yi said seriously.
Whether toward the Schubert family or her younger sister.
When Wright had joined the Schubert family, despite facing skepticism and doubt from others, he had always considered himself part of the family, fighting for its honor and bringing it much glory.
Contrary to others’ suspicions, Wright had been wholly devoted to swordsmanship and self-improvement, never doing anything to betray the Schubert family.
Moreover, even though Lia hadn’t acknowledged him as her brother back then, he had always treated her as his younger sister, never slacking in his care for her.
Thus, Xia Yi – Christie had a clear conscience!
“……”
Lia was momentarily stunned, staring at Xia Yi in disbelief before clearly becoming furious.
“Xia Yi, I’ll ask you one last time—is this really your choice?”
“Yes, this is my answer,” Xia Yi replied.
In truth, she knew nothing she said would matter now.
All that remained was to make her stance clear.
Since Lia wouldn’t listen to reason, she would lay out her position plainly.
“You—you—!!”
Lia was losing control, her body trembling slightly.
Her invitation had been rejected over and over—this had never happened before.
She had thought that after going this far, Xia Yi would finally submit to her, yet the result was… nothing.
This intense sense of defeat was something no one had ever made her feel.
It was utterly unacceptable.
Her thoughts grew increasingly impulsive. She felt her dignity as the Schubert family’s young lady was being challenged. No matter what means she had to use, she would make Xia Yi yield.
“Very well then, Xia Yi. Don’t even think about leaving this place. This is the path you chose!”
“Enough.”
At that moment, the door opened, and a tall figure entered the room.
The dark silver armor was unmistakable.
Xia Yi recognized him at a glance.
The fake human Sword Saint!
“Lia, now you understand, don’t you? She never considered you a friend. Your goodwill has been rejected,” the Sword Saint said. “You’ve had your chance. Now, step aside.”
“Get out!!”
Lia shouted at the Sword Saint.
“This isn’t over between us!”
“Lia, you’re being unsightly. You’ve lost the grace of the Schubert family,” the armored figure’s deep voice intoned.
“Shut up!!”
“Have you finished making a scene?” the Sword Saint murmured.
Lia’s eyes widened as she felt an invisible pressure bearing down on her. The cold gaze from beneath the helmet seemed to pierce right through her.
“Lia, I told you—this isn’t a request. It’s an order,” the Sword Saint said coldly. “I am the human Sword Saint, Wright Schubert. Understand? My actions represent humanity’s will. Do not defy me—this is a warning given out of respect for the Schubert family.”
“…Hmph.”
Lia forcibly suppressed her anger. When the other party invoked both the Schubert family and the human Sword Saint’s authority against her, there was nothing left to do but reluctantly back down.
“Glad you’re cooperating.”
Only after the young lady finally quieted did the Sword Saint withdraw his killing intent.
“Xia Yi, you deserve some punishment. I’ve been too lenient with you… but the human Sword Saint won’t be so merciful. You’ll regret not accepting my offer earlier—I could have protected you. Now, you’re on your own.”
Lia shot Xia Yi one last glance before stepping behind the Sword Saint, no longer speaking now that she’d lost her voice in the matter.
“My apologies, Miss Xia Yi. My foolish sister has embarrassed herself in front of you,” the Sword Saint said, turning to Xia Yi. “I wished to speak with you, so I asked Lia to arrange this meeting.”
Xia Yi glared at this impostor, deeply displeased.
Yet she also found it strange.
Why had he incited Lia to seek her out?
“What are you after?”
“Don’t be afraid, Miss Xia Yi. In truth, I only wish to ask you one thing. Answer me, and you’ll face no consequences. Regarding your identity, we won’t pursue the matter further—you’ll remain the Lawrence family’s young lady. I swear this in the name of the human Sword Saint.”
The Sword Saint paused but, before Xia Yi could respond, impatiently pressed on.
“Tell me—what did the Doctor invite you to do at the Alchemist Association?”
“The Doctor?”
Xia Yi was confused by the sudden mention of this name.
The Doctor and the Sword Saint should know each other—why was he asking her?
“That strange alchemical potion the Doctor obtained—what do you know about it?”
The Sword Saint grew increasingly agitated at the thought of that mysterious potion.
If it truly could suppress Draconification, becoming the key to perfecting his heroic form…
Nothing could be more important.
No matter the means, he had to obtain it.
“Did you brew that potion? You must know its formula!”
Xia Yi grew even more surprised.
The potion she’d brewed was a transformation elixir meant to suppress the dragon’s curse—it had no effect on humans beyond being disgustingly bitter.
Why would he want this??
“You’re clearly suspicious—you must know the secrets behind that alchemical potion!!”
The Sword Saint was nearly losing patience. He stepped right up to Xia Yi, his towering frame casting a shadow over the petite black-haired loli.
Simultaneously, the holy sword emblem on his gauntlet glowed as a holy sword materialized in his grasp—a blatant show of intimidation.
“Beneath the holy sword’s radiance, reveal everything to me! This is in the name of humanity—”
BAM!!
At that moment, the door burst open as a panicked servant rushed in.
“Young lady!! Someone’s forcing their way inside!!”
