Volume 2 + Chapter 99: Can’t Reach It!
Xia Yi watched Serra’s reaction with great amusement, feeling an indescribable sense of satisfaction well up inside her.
She seemed to be getting more and more delighted.
“Big sis~”
“……”
“Big sis~”
“……”
“Big sis~”
Xia Yi circled around Serra, repeatedly calling her that nickname to tease her.
Under Xia Yi’s relentless teasing, Serra blushed and muttered in a low voice, “If I’d known this would happen, I wouldn’t have agreed to Lucia’s request… I should’ve let her come instead…”
“Oh? Serra, what’s that photo?”
Xia Yi had spotted something interesting.
Serra was holding a picture frame. The photo inside appeared to be from a group event, like some sort of commemoration.
In the background, people were holding a banner that read:
“Warmly celebrating the official founding of the Hechi Fang!”
Serra stood right in the center, wearing a cold and indifferent expression. Most notably, this was the younger Serra—shorter than she is now, with an unexpectedly cute appearance…
“…Ugh.”
Serra noticed Xia Yi peering at the photo and quickly flipped it over, clearly not wanting her to see more.
“Serra, come on, let me take a look!”
“No.”
Serra calmly lifted the frame and, using her height advantage, placed it high up on top of the cabinet.
Clearly, she didn’t want Xia Yi to see what she used to look like.
“Ugh! I can’t reach it!”
The little princess stood in front of the cabinet, tiptoeing and stretching her arms up as far as she could—yet she still couldn’t reach the frame.
It was right there in sight, and yet… it felt impossibly far.
This was height suppression, pure and simple.
Serra’s move was clearly an act of height-based disdain—mocking Xia Yi for her lack of stature.
After all, this white-haired little loli barely broke 140 cm.
“Serra, this is too much! You’re looking down on the bloodline of the Silver Dragon royal family!!”
Xia Yi was clearly not taking it well.
Back in her days as a human Sword Saint, she had been proud of her height—but now? Now she was a little shrimp!
“This is what happens when a certain someone is a picky eater. If you’d eat more vegetables—like broccoli, or bitter melon—you might’ve grown taller.”
Serra shot back.
That hit Xia Yi right in her sore spot.
To actually bring up the food she hated most!
“I’m not picky! I just… engage in selective eating! I make rational choices based on my appetite!” Xia Yi argued. “And bitter melon—that stuff isn’t even food! It should be banned from existence!”
Just as she was in the middle of her impassioned anti–bitter melon rant, footsteps came from outside the door.
It must be Jiye returning.
Xia Yi let out a sigh and decided to postpone her bitter melon crusade for another time—there were more important matters at hand now.
She and Serra returned to the couch.
“Big sis, I’m back!”
Jiye walked in and closed the door behind him.
He hadn’t seen Serra in years, and he had so much he wanted to say.
“Big sis, you’ve been gone for so long—what happened? I thought something had happened to you, that you might never come back!”
“I’ve been through a lot… In short, I have a new job now,” Serra replied.
“A new job?”
“Do you remember when the leader of the Cangqing Gang suddenly disappeared?”
“Of course I do! How could I forget? She was your equal back in the day.”
“Indeed. I got word about her, and I went after her,” Serra explained. “She went north, so I followed. Things happened there, and I ended up taking on a new role and staying in the North.”
“That’s how it was?” Jiye still looked confused. “But how come no one in the Cangqing Gang knew what happened to their leader, yet you did?”
Serra was silent for a moment, then revealed the truth.
“Actually… she and I are sisters. I found out she went north from our father.”
“Wait—you’re really sisters?!”
Jiye was stunned. It was unexpected… but at the same time, it kind of made sense.
Serra and Lucia did look somewhat alike. Both were from the Red Dragon tribe. Rumors had floated around that they might be sisters.
Lucia had always kept silent on the matter.
And anyone who dared mention it to Serra usually got their head bitten off.
The rumor had never been confirmed—until now, when Serra admitted it herself, officially confirming the long-held suspicion.
“Big sis and Lucia are sisters, yet you two fought like bitter enemies… I never would’ve guessed…” Jiye said with a sigh. “Ah, not that I meant anything by it. I just mean—I know you truly wanted to take down the Cangqing Gang.”
“Even if we’re sisters, both of us gave up our surnames and left the family behind. We chose to live by our own strength. Anyone standing in our way—sibling or not—had to be dealt with. This wasn’t about blood. It was about will.” Serra said.
Xia Yi didn’t speak, but she found the story fascinating. So Lucia wasn’t so simple after all—she used to be a gang boss herself, and not just any gang, but the Cangqing Gang. That group was a rival to Serra’s own Hechi Fang.
Based on what Xia Yi had observed these past few days, those two gangs had a long-standing feud. Their leaders must’ve clashed many times.
The relationship between these two sisters… only grew more and more intriguing.
“I figured after I left, you’d be the one to step up and lead the Hechi Fang. I never expected you to grow the gang even stronger. I must say, I’m impressed, Jiye.” Serra smiled.
“Big sis…”
Jiye’s nose tingled.
He’d worked hard for so many years, and deep down, he’d always longed for Serra’s recognition.
He often wondered—if she had stayed, would she have done it all better than him?
He couldn’t let her down.
That thought had driven him all these years.
So now, hearing her praise—he finally felt it had all been worth it.
“Big sis, now that you’re back in Corolle… are you going to return to lead the Hechi Fang again?” Jiye asked excitedly. “Come on, take back your old position as our leader, just like before!”
“I’m sorry, Jiye. I don’t want to disappoint you, but I’m not planning to do that right now,” Serra replied. “Besides, you’ve done a great job. I don’t want to take that from you.”
“I… I see.” Jiye’s face fell slightly.
“My current job is important. I can’t explain everything right now. But I can promise you—once it’s all over, I’ll tell you exactly what I’ve been doing.”
People always have to look ahead.
Serra was now a member of the Royal Maid Corps, serving the Dragon Royalty. That kind of duty couldn’t be abandoned.
She would never return to gang life.
“…I understand.”
Jiye let out a quiet sigh.
Though disappointed, he could sense that Serra had changed.
Even just standing next to this silver-haired loli, she seemed different now—her whole aura had shifted.
She no longer had the brashness, the arrogance, the “I’m the queen of the world” energy she used to.
Now, she was much more reserved.
“But… since you came to see me, it must be something important, right?”
“Yes. Strictly speaking, seeing you was Her Highness’s intention—” Serra glanced over at Xia Yi.
Xia Yi picked up the cue immediately and took over the conversation, laying out her plan.
“Jiye, I’m planning to create a once in a-lifetime legend here in Corolle. That’s why I came to you…”
