Volume 2 + Chapter 89: The Sheriff
Everyone’s gaze was fixed on Serra.
The outcome of this strike would likely decide the battle.
When Chen Tie wrapped chains around his arm, it was a sign he was serious.
Not a single member of the Cangqing Gang had the courage to take this move head-on—because it would undoubtedly turn them into a pile of pulp.
Countless people had already died from this technique.
Chen Tie unleashed a terrifying blow, holding nothing back, putting his full strength into it.
The critical question was—how would Serra respond?
Would she counter with a move of equal power? Dodge? Or defend…?
But what happened next defied all expectations.
Serra simply stood there. She didn’t evade, didn’t even assume a defensive stance—she took Chen Tie’s strike head-on.
BOOM!
Serra was sent flying, crashing through the main pillar of the Ascension Casino. The second floor collapsed in a massive avalanche of debris, burying her in a cloud of dust.
“What…?”
Chen Tie’s face was etched with disbelief.
Because Serra had chosen to do… nothing.
Was this really how the battle would end?
For a moment, no one knew what to say.
The first to break the silence was the young master of the Elvin family.
“Heh… Hah, hahaha!!” Oba clutched his forehead and burst into laughter. “All that posturing, and for what? Turns out she was so scared she couldn’t even move—instantly crushed by the Cangqing Gang’s leader without even putting up a fight!”
The Cangqing members stood frozen for a moment before erupting into cheers at Oba’s declaration, celebrating Chen Tie’s victory.
“We won!! The boss won! The boss is invincible!!”
“Of course the boss is the strongest!”
“A single strike was all it took to annihilate that criminal! Another glorious feat for the boss’s record!”
The gang’s roars of triumph were so loud they threatened to blow the roof off.
The singer girl turned to Xia Yi, utterly baffled.
“Little girl… aren’t you scared?”
“Scared?” Xia Yi blinked.
“Yeah. Your companion just got taken out. How are you still so calm?” the singer asked. “Aren’t you worried?”
“Honestly, I’m more worried about this gang leader. He’s about to be in deep trouble.”
“Hah! Excellent, Chen Tie! Your performance was beyond satisfying!” Oba laughed. “As expected—when you take action, no enemy stands a chance! Truly, you’re a legend among the gangs of Corolle!”
“Boss, we’ve won! Don’t you have something to say?” one of the gang members called out.
But strangely, while everyone else was drowning in the joy of victory, one person wasn’t—Chen Tie.
His eyes were wide, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. His pupils trembled, his breathing ragged as he stared dead ahead, muttering under his breath:
“No… no… how…?”
“Boss? What are you talking about? We already won!”
“…”
“Boss?”
A gang member approached Chen Tie.
But like a startled beast, he reacted violently—slapping the underling away with enough force to send teeth flying.
“Get back, you blind fool!! It’s not over yet!!”
The gang member sprawled on the ground, utterly confused.
Chen Tie gritted his teeth, forcing out his words like they were being dragged from his soul:
“Even after all these years… the gap between us… hasn’t shrunk… not one bit.”
“So… that was your full power?”
From within the dust, a curvaceous red dragon woman stepped forward.
It was Serra.
“Not bad. You did slightly better than I expected.”
Under the stunned gazes of the crowd, she casually brushed the dust off her clothes, her expression relaxed—as if she hadn’t just taken Chen Tie’s strongest attack head-on.
If there was any sign of damage at all, it was only the torn stockings on her legs—a few holes revealing glimpses of smooth, fair skin beneath the black fabric.
Other than that?
Nothing.
“Iron Pillar—oh, sorry, Chen Tie—you really are a cut above the rest. You actually managed to break through my defenses… a little.” Serra’s lips curled into a faint smirk.
“Th-This is a joke!!”
Oba’s veins bulge on his forehead. He couldn’t accept this—it was too absurd.
The Cangqing members had been toyed with like playthings. Even their leader, Chen Tie—a renowned powerhouse in Corolle—had only managed to tear her stockings with his full strength?
How could anyone accept this? No matter what they did, they couldn’t even scratch her.
Just what level of strength did this woman possess?!
“Chen Tie… now it’s your turn to take my strike.” Serra said.
“…Bring it!!”
Chen Tie braced himself, crossing his arms in front of him in a defensive stance. He was ready.
“Good. You’ve got backbone. I’ll give you that much credit.”
Serra charged forward with blinding speed.
By the time anyone realized the fight wasn’t over, she was already airborne—twisting midair, her leg whipping around in a devastating roundhouse kick that slammed into Chen Tie’s massive arms.
A searing explosion of flames erupted on impact.
The fire engulfed Chen Tie in an instant. The heavy chains wrapped around his arms shattered under the force, and the sheer power of the blow sent him flying—eyes rolled back, consciousness gone—before he crashed into the floor with a thunderous boom.
“Boss?! BOSS!!”
The Cangqing members screamed for their leader, but it was over. Chen Tie was down—completely defeated.
The victor was clear.
This battle had been Serra’s absolute domination. She had crushed the Cangqing Gang’s morale entirely. Every single member now understood the terrifying depth of her strength—no one dared to oppose her anymore.
“Serra is the strongest!!”
Xia Yi clapped cheerfully from the sidelines, celebrating her personal maid’s victory.
“I’ve embarrassed myself in front of you, Young Mistress,” Serra said, bowing gracefully toward Xia Yi.
The Cangqing members stood in stunned silence—but even they had to admit defeat.
“DAMN IT!!”
Oba’s face twisted in rage. He hurled his wine glass to the ground, all pretense of elegance gone.
Letting the Cavendish family humiliate him like this in his own territory? The Elvin family’s reputation would be ruined because of him!
“EVERYONE, HOLD YOUR POSITIONS! DROP YOUR WEAPONS! ANY RESISTANCE WILL BE TREATED AS A THREAT TO CORROL’S SECURITY—AND MET WITH LETHAL FORCE!”
A squad of fully armed dragon soldiers stormed into the Ascension Casino. Dozens of battle-hardened warriors surrounded the area, weapons and shields at the ready, their expressions fierce and unyielding.
The soldiers instinctively parted, forming a path as their superior arrived.
A dragon in a black uniform stepped into the casino, his sharp gaze sweeping over every corner.
This was the Sheriff.
“Who here has violated Corolle’s laws?”
