Volume 2 + Chapter 7: The Penguin Gang
The group blocking the alleyway was a local gang from Seaside City—the Penguin Gang. Their leader was a wolf-headed beastman named Gill.
The gang’s name had little to do with its members.
It was simply because Gill kept a pet penguin.
In Seaside City, the Penguin Gang was a force to be reckoned with. Locals knew better than to cross their path.
Today, while patrolling the streets with his lackeys, Gill had witnessed something amusing.
Two outsiders—two beautiful women, no less—were handing out money to the locals.
Gill couldn’t help but laugh.
How pathetically naive.
With the city in chaos and people struggling to survive, these two fools were tossing coins around like charity.
What kind of sheltered noblewomen would do something this stupid?
Their expensive clothes screamed wealth.
Gill decided then and there to teach them a lesson—to show them how the real world worked.
So he led his men to corner them in the alley.
But something was off.
Even surrounded, the red-haired maid had the audacity to taunt them.
“No, it’s you who are surrounded—by me alone.”
“Boss, what the hell is this woman talking about?” one gangster muttered.
“She says she’s surrounding us?”
“Hah! This bitch must be out of her mind!” another jeered.
The alley erupted in laughter, the air thick with mockery.
Gill studied the two women.
Soft skin, delicate features—utterly pampered.
He raised a hand, silencing his men.
“Relax, ladies. I’m Gill, leader of the Penguin Gang. We’ve got… a little problem. Mind helping out?”
“A problem?” Serra’s voice was ice.
“Yeah. We’re starving too. You two seem generous—how about lending us some coins? Maybe we can even be friends.”
Silence.
Gill smirked.
They’re terrified.
These sheltered noblewomen had probably never faced real danger. That earlier bravado? Just panic talking.
“Play nice, and we won’t hurt you,” he sneered.
Serra’s fists clenched, her restraint palpable.
Xia Yi whispered, “Don’t overdo it. We still need answers.”
Her concern was justified.
Dragons held zero regard for lesser races. To Serra, these thugs were little more than insects to crush.
“Understood… Since it’s your order, my lady.”
Serra exhaled sharply.
“Hey! You two ignoring the boss?!”
A gangster stomped forward, aiming to intimidate—
“THUD.”
The next second, he was embedded in a trash bin, unconscious, eyes rolled back.
The laughter died instantly.
“What the fuck did you just do?!” Gill roared.
Serra flicked her wrist. “Filthy.”
The insult ignited the gang’s fury.
“You’re dead, bitch!”
Gill stepped forward, twirling a dagger.
“This blade’s coated in lethal—”
Before he could finish, Serra was already in his face.
She yanked him up by the collar and hurled him into another thug. Bones cracked on impact.
Had Gill not been sturdy, his spine would’ve snapped.
The gang froze in shock.
Then Serra stomped down.
Again.
And again.
The alley filled with howls as the wolfman’s body buckled under her strength.
“Stop—STOP! You idiots, HELP ME!”
Gill’s men lunged—
Only to be flattened one after another.
Not a single one lasted a single move.
Despair set in.
We picked a fight with monsters.
“I SURRENDER! PLEASE!” Gill wailed, covering his battered head.
But Serra wasn’t done.
She hadn’t used magic for a reason.
She wanted them to feel this—to carve fear into their bones.
The Penguin Gang could only watch, helpless, as their once-feared leader groveled like a beaten dog.
“No more… I’ll die…!”
Gill’s face was a swollen, purple mess—his head now resembling a bloated pig’s.
“Sis! I was wrong! I’ll do anything—you’re my only sis!”
Serra finally paused, disgusted.
“Don’t call me that. You’re not worthy.”
“Y-Yes!” Gill spat out broken teeth, forcing a grin.
The message was clear.
No one dared move.
Serra dusted off her hands and returned to Xia Yi.
“It’s done, my lady.”
“Good.”
Xia Yi’s calm nod sent another wave of terror through the gang.
If the maid is this terrifying… What’s the mistress capable of?
“I have questions,” Xia Yi said, eyeing Gill.
“A-Ask away! I’ve lived here for years—I’ll tell you everything!”
Gill’s voice trembled with desperate eagerness.
Xia Yi smiled.
The bait had been taken.
“What I want to know is really simple…”
