Volume 2 + Chapter 59: Missed Attack
Today, Serra encountered Xia Lulu.
After bowing before Her Majesty the Queen, Xia Lulu issued her a command.
That command was to carry out a surprise inspection of Xia Yi’s room.
As a member of the Royal Maid Corps, she obeyed the order and proceeded to the Princess’s chambers for the inspection.
And then… she saw that scene.
She didn’t quite know how to report it. Would describing that situation make Her Majesty angry?
“Speak truthfully, Serra,” Xia Lulu commanded.
“As you command, Your Majesty,” Serra lowered her head. “In accordance with your order, I conducted a surprise inspection of Her Highness the Princess’s room and witnessed Her Highness and the Vampire Princess engaging in… behavior not quite in accordance with proper etiquette.”
As part of the Royal Maid Corps, her duty was complete devotion to the royal family—loyalty was paramount. Disobeying the Queen’s orders was unthinkable.
So she could only try to put things as tactfully as possible, hoping Her Majesty wouldn’t get angry.
“Behavior not quite in accordance with etiquette?”
“Yes.”
“Indecent?”
“…Yes.”
“Describe it in detail, Serra,” Xia Lulu ordered. “Tell me everything you saw. Report all of it.”
“As you command.”
Since Her Majesty insisted, there was no helping it.
Serra could only give an honest report.
From the moment before she opened the door, the Princess’s response, the sounds coming from inside, the scene she saw after opening the door—the flustered Xia Yi, and Miu Miu with her face buried in the Princess’s lap… she recounted everything.
“…After that, I left and came back here to report to you, Your Majesty.”
Serra reported truthfully, including every detail.
“……”
Xia Lulu fell silent.
Serra had thought Her Majesty would be furious—enraged by such a situation.
But the Queen’s reaction was surprisingly calm.
“What do you make of it, Serra?”
“From what I know of Her Highness, I think she allowed the Vampire Princess to drink her blood. I noticed her fingers were damp, seemingly coated with… well, considering the Vampire Princess’s reaction, I believe that’s most likely the case.”
“So you’re saying Xia Yi was feeding the Vampire Princess—with her own blood?”
“Yes. It appeared to be done with Her Highness’s consent. It didn’t look like the Vampire Princess was attacking or forcing her. If that were the case, Her Highness surely would’ve called out to me for help. Her reaction was the same as always—”
Cute.
That’s what Serra had wanted to say.
But she held it in.
“I understand,” Xia Lulu said flatly.
“Your Majesty, if you’re concerned, perhaps a separate room can be arranged for the Vampire Princess…”
“No, this is fine. Just leave the Vampire Princess at Xia Yi’s side. I believe in my daughter’s abilities—she can handle this little Vampire Princess just fine.” Xia Lulu laughed.
…Your Majesty, are you happy right now?
Serra was stunned for a moment.
Thinking back carefully, the posture she had seen earlier was the Princess sitting at the edge of the bed, while the Vampire Princess was on the floor, and the way she was leaning on the Princess…
It did seem like it was actually the Vampire Princess who had fallen for her.
Her Highness truly had considerable charm—this Vampire Princess was clearly already smitten!
“Serra, go deliver the following message: if Xia Yi is walking around the dragon palace with the Vampire Princess, then unless there are extreme circumstances, the other dragons must not harm her. She is, after all, a bargaining chip in our dealings with the Crimson Empire.”
“Understood. I’ll handle it right away, Your Majesty.” Serra acknowledged the command, then withdrew to relay the Queen’s orders.
Once Serra had left, only Xia Lulu remained in the office.
“Good work, Xia Yi. You made a friend,” Xia Lulu murmured to herself. “That eases my worries a bit more… with this, I might be able to move the schedule up a little…”
—
“Aren’t you going to sleep, Miu Miu?”
Xia Yi looked at Miu Miu.
“You haven’t slept since last night, right? Daytime should be when vampires sleep.”
“Well, that’s your fault. You made me do homework nonstop. Look at the time! Acting like you don’t know.” Miu Miu complained.
“Ahaha…” Xia Yi laughed awkwardly. “But I did let you drink my blood, didn’t I? You’re full—so now it’s time to sleep.”
“No thanks. For your sake, I’ll adjust my sleep schedule.”
“For… my sake?”
“Yep. You said you’re going to keep watch over me, right? But if I sleep during the day and you sleep at night, how are you going to do that? So of course I’ll adjust it. We can sleep at the same time.”
“Oh… that makes sense.”
Xia Yi thought about it. That really did make more sense—it’d be easier to keep an eye on Miu Miu this way, to prevent her from saying anything dangerous.
She had to be monitored constantly!
Miu Miu stood by the window, gazing outside.
Seeing the look on her face, Xia Yi was silent for a moment before asking, “Do you want to go out?”
“A little curious,” Miu Miu nodded. “The atmosphere here feels pretty different from the vampires’ side.”
“Really?”
“No blood thralls, not many people either.”
“There aren’t many of us dragons. And unlike vampires, we can’t make blood thralls. Half-dragons created by the dragon curse are usually abnormal—barely rational.”
Xia Yi explained, then suddenly remembered something.
“Oh right, don’t drink too much dragon blood. If you were to be dragonified, you’re done for. The dragon curse is terrifying.”
“Dragonify? Then Xia Yi, you too… is it because of the dragon curse—”
Xia Yi quickly covered her own mouth.
Crap, she slipped!
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.” Miu Miu turned her head and said.
“Why?”
“Because… isn’t this a secret between us?” Miu Miu looked straight at Xia Yi and smiled. “That way, I’ll become someone special to Xia Yi. Different from the other girls.”
Huh?
What does that mean?
Xia Yi didn’t really get it.
After a long pause, Miu Miu furrowed her brows and asked, “You didn’t fall for it?”
“Fall for what?”
“I’m saying, like feeling your heart flutter or something. I even went so far as to calculate the angle, specifically stood by the window, and said a line like that…”
“?”
“Ugh, you really are swordsexual—so hard to deal with,” Miu Miu complained with a touch of grievance.
Xia Yi still didn’t quite get it. It was like she had accidentally sidestepped a carefully planned ultimate move without even realizing it?
This didn’t seem like a field she was good at.
“If you want to go out and look around, I can take you.”
“Really?”
“Of course. But you can’t run around on your own—you have to behave.”
“Mm-hmm-hmm!” Miu Miu nodded repeatedly.
“Then let’s go!”
Xia Yi jumped off the bed, put on her shoes, and got ready to leave the room.
But Miu Miu didn’t move.
That’s when Xia Yi noticed—Miu Miu needed to change clothes. What she was wearing really wasn’t suitable.
“I’ll find you an outfit. You can wear mine.”
“I get to wear Xia Yi’s clothes?”
“…You’re not allowed to have weird thoughts.”
“I won’t~”
Xia Yi gave her a suspicious look but didn’t say more. She pointed to the wardrobe. “All my clothes are in there. I’ll step out—change on your own.”
She was just about to leave, but Miu Miu suddenly grabbed her wrist.
“Xia Yi, we’re both girls now, right? So why can’t you watch me change~?”
