Volume 2 + Chapter 23: What Do You Mean By “Pulling And Tugging”?
Xia Yi knew this succubus meant no good—there was no way she’d just obediently help out of the kindness of her heart!
She definitely wanted to feast on her.
And Xia Yi, seizing this very point, decided to strike first.
“Little silver dragon, you’re really pushing your luck.” Ella murmured, her voice laced with barely restrained rationality.
Hehe~
Xia Yi was thoroughly amused.
Teasing others really was such fun.
“Not at all, I’m being serious, Miss Succubus. I can give you a proper feast, you know?”
“You mean it?”
“Mhm, of course! After all, I’m already marked by you. Even if this contract started by accident, meeting you must be fate. Everything’s negotiable.”
“Fine!”
Ella gritted her teeth and nodded.
Truth be told, entering Xia Yi’s dreams from such a distance had already taken a toll on her. Now, she even had to extend her influence through Xia Yi to drag her enemies into slumber as well.
The energy cost was downright ridiculous.
And to make matters worse, this little silver dragon was making unreasonable demands—expecting her to work on an empty stomach without even a snack upfront.
“Little silver dragon, stay still now. I’m going to start invading the dreams around you.”
“Got it.” Xia Yi nodded.
With that, Ella dissolved into a wisp of white smoke and drifted out of Xia Yi’s dream.
“Ugh! What is this?!”
“It reeks of fish!”
“Ack! Disgusting!!”
Complaints from Ella echoed incessantly.
She really was having a rough time.
Xia Yi was starting to feel a little sorry for the poor succubus.
A long while later, Ella finally returned to Xia Yi’s dream.
“Alright, all those… noble-looking freaks around you have been dealt with. They’re all fast asleep now. By the time you wake up, there won’t be any danger left.”
Ella came back looking utterly exhausted.
That whole ordeal had clearly taken a lot out of her—she wasn’t lying earlier. Even her voice sounded drained of energy.
Now that the job was done, it was time for her reward.
“Thanks a lot, Miss Succubus.”
“Don’t mention it,” Ella replied. “As long as you keep your promise, all this effort will be worth it. So… shall we start replenishing my lewd energy now?” She didn’t even bother hiding her eagerness anymore.
“Mhm, mhm!” Xia Yi nodded quickly. “Next time, for sure.”
Ella froze, wondering if she’d misheard.
“What do you mean?”
“‘Next time, for sure’ means I’ll definitely cooperate with you next time, Miss Succubus. When that happens, you can do whatever you want with me…”
“Why next time?! I want it now!”
Ella was starting to get angry—she felt like she was being toyed with.
“Are you going back on your word?! What about what you just promised?!”
“I’m not going back on my word, Miss Succubus. I did agree,” Xia Yi said with a grin. “But I never specified when I’d fulfill it!”
“I don’t accept that! It has to be now!”
“I know you’re in a hurry, but don’t be too hasty,” Xia Yi explained. “Just hear me out first. For one, I’ve already been in Goldert’s coastal city for about a week now.”
“Oh? And?”
Ella crossed her arms over her chest, clearly displeased.
“That means for over a week, thanks to the sirens’ influence, I’ve been stuck in these ocean dreams—my mind is completely drained. Right now, I’m suffering from severe mental exhaustion.”
“…Well, that’s true.” Ella couldn’t argue with that.
“And in this state, I’d be nothing but stale ingredients for you, Miss Succubus. I doubt I’d taste very good.”
Ella fell silent.
“Besides, even though I’m temporarily safe now, once I wake up, I’ll have to face another battle. If I give everything to satisfy you now, I’ll have nothing left for the fight later. Wouldn’t that completely defeat the purpose of you helping me? Instead of saving me, you’d just be setting me up to die in Goldert.”
“…Ugh.”
Ella had no rebuttal left.
The little silver dragon had a point—if anything happened to her, the Silver Dragon Queen, Charulu, would never let her off the hook. She’d be absolutely doomed!
“Miss Succubus, when I say ‘next time, for sure,’ I’m not trying to go back on my word. I’m actually helping you!” Xia Yi said earnestly. “Consider it an IOU—I’ll pay you back with interest next time!”
“Oh? Then be aware—this kind of debt does accrue interest, little silver dragon.” Ella’s expression darkened.
“No problem! Principal and interest, I’ll repay it all!”
Xia Yi wasn’t worried in the slightest.
Heh heh~
Next time, she could just keep stringing her along.
The more she owed, the harder it’d be to say who would be begging whom in the end.
Ella fell silent for a long moment, clearly displeased. But she was rational enough to hold back, only murmuring ominously, “Do as you will. But mark my words, little silver dragon—you’re playing with fire.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Good.” With that, Ella said nothing more.
……
Xia Yi struggled to open her eyes, hovering between sleep and wakefulness. The first thing she saw was an unfamiliar… ceiling?
This wasn’t the beach. It looked like she was in some kind of cave.
“What… happened?”
“You got kidnapped by those half-dragon freaks, little silver dragon. But don’t worry—you’re safe now. They’re all fast asleep.”
“You—did you do this on purpose?!”
“Hmm, who can say?” Ella replied cheerfully.
Damn it…
Of course this succubus wasn’t some pushover either.
“Well then, I’ll be taking my leave now.”
“Wait! We’re still not out of danger yet!”
“Ugh, you’re too ruthless! No payment, and you still want me to work overtime? You’re worse than a succubus!” Ella couldn’t help but complain. “And just so you know, I’m a succubus, not some guardian spirit! I can only enter your dreams through the mark when you’re asleep!”
“Fine.” Xia Yi sighed in disappointment.
“Good luck on your own. The succubus mark has a cooldown, you know? After this, you’re on your own. Try not to die, little silver dragon.”
With those parting words, Ella’s voice faded away.
Xia Yi was fully awake now—the succubus’ presence was gone.
She glanced down at her stomach and let out a slow breath. Hah…
Phew.
The mark wasn’t glowing—otherwise, she’d absolutely die of embarrassment.
The silver-haired loli rubbed her eyes and glanced around. Just as Ella had said, all those half-dragon monstrosities had been forced into slumber, no longer a threat.
It seemed she’d simply been carried off and dumped somewhere.
Xia Yi stood up and moved toward a faint glow in the distance.
As her vision abruptly cleared, a breathtaking sight unfolded before her.
“Where… is this?”
