Volume 2 + Chapter 128: The Time of Judgment
As the group of nouveau nobles were left at a loss, Arland suddenly slammed the table and stood up abruptly, barking at the judge in a commanding tone: “Stand up, Judge!! Declare her guilty. She’s an imposter pretending to be Her Highness the Princess—she’s not the Silver Dragon Princess!!!”
At once, everyone’s eyes turned to Arland.
“Father…” Oba said, trembling.
Even under the scrutiny of all those eyes, Arland’s expression remained unchanged. His face was twisted in fanatical paranoia.
“She is not the Silver Dragon Princess. She is a disguised pawn manipulated by the Cavendish family! Corolle never received any message from the royal dragon family about a visit!”
Although the nouveau nobles were shocked, they gradually came to a realization.
There was no way back.
If they admitted that Xia Yi truly was the Silver Dragon Princess and the representative of the royal dragon family, then there was no doubt—all their heads would roll for the crimes they had committed.
Now, there was only one choice left—kill her.
The nouveau nobles had been driven to a dead end.
“She insults the royal blood of the dragon family!”
“According to the laws of the Dragon Kingdom, she must be executed!”
“We must uphold the rightful order of this nation!”
The nouveau nobles shouted.
“What are you waiting for? Judge, stand up and pass the sentence!”
Arland narrowed his eyes, glaring viciously at the judge who had fallen to the ground.
“I… I…”
“Useless fool. What good are you?!”
Arland stormed to the center of the court, kicked the judge off the tower platform, seized the gavel, and slammed it down with force.
“I, on behalf of Corolle’s law, declare: The Cavendish family has deceived the public and manipulated a false Silver Dragon Princess to insult the royal bloodline of the dragons. Their crimes are unforgivable! The head of House Cavendish and the imposter shall be sentenced to death, effective immediately!!”
His voice echoed over Corolle, reaching every dragon’s ear.
The dragons of Corolle looked on in horror at the madness unfolding before them.
Torrential rain poured from the sky as though to drown the entire city.
“City Guard, where are you?!”
With Arland’s frenzied shout, the dragon members of the City Guard revealed their true forms, soaring into the sky and coiling around the high towers of Corolle. Their numbers were considerable, completely surrounding the trial grounds and casting massive shadows.
“For the justice of Corolle, today we must punish this criminal!” Arland roared.
The dragons of the City Guard bellowed thunderously in unison.
As long as the City Guard remained under his control, no one in Corolle could defy the New Commerce Guild.
The nouveau nobles shared a common interest. They held the lifeblood of the city in their hands—whoever they wanted dead, would die.
“Even if it’s the royal dragon family…”
Arland thought to himself.
There was no turning back now.
If anyone was to blame, it was her—for coming to Corolle. She should’ve stayed in the imperial capital in the north and lived as a princess. But no—she insisted on coming here to die.
Bathed in the icy downpour, Xia Yi slowly raised her head and looked calmly at Arland. There wasn’t even the slightest hint of fear in her eyes—only scorn.
Even in this situation, she still looked down on Arland and the nouveau nobles with boundless arrogance.
Arland’s impulsive drive faltered slightly. It was he who was shaken now. Why… why could she still smile? She was going to die!
“Corolle,” Xia Yi turned, addressing the people below, “use your voices and answer me—who is the real criminal that deserves the death penalty?”
“It’s… it’s the nouveau nobles!!” Polar Night responded to Xia Yi with a rousing shout.
His voice seemed to rouse the whole crowd from a deep slumber.
The dragons of Corolle realized something too—if the city missed this chance, it would never change again.
The one standing there now must be the Silver Dragon Princess!
It was the Silver Dragon Princess who had come to lead them all to liberate Corolle, to bring justice!
“It’s the nouveau nobles who deserve to die! They’ve taken over this city and played with everything!”
“The nouveau nobles must be punished!”
“Your Highness, lead us!!”
The crowd responded together.
“Good. You are the warriors I have chosen. From this moment on—fight! Release the rage you’ve repressed for so long. You will be unstoppable, invincible!”
Xia Yi activated the bloodline of royalty. Her silver pupils glowed nobly in the gloom of the rain, gazing down like an emperor, amplifying the fervor of the people.
The dragons below began to roar. Their fury spread like wildfire through the crowd. One after another, they unleashed their true forms and soared into the sky, launching a direct assault on the City Guard.
Though there was a significant disparity in power and equipment…
They had thrown away fear. Possessed by anger, they entered a state of berserk rage.
Serra flew up from below to Xia Yi’s side, guarding her as a protector.
In her dragon form, Serra’s power was overwhelming. A single breath attack from her triggered a massive explosion in the sky, tearing through the buildings of Corolle and knocking out a swath of the City Guard.
“H-How could this… happen?!”
Arland stared at the battlefield in disbelief, forcing himself to stay calm and give orders.
“What about the rest?! The City Guard has more members than this! Call them all—bring everyone here!!”
“I-It’s no good, Lord Arland!” The captain of the City Guard rushed up in panic.
“I remember you were sent to capture that useless Lucius! Where is he?! Once you catch him, bring everyone back for reinforcements!”
“He’s gone berserk…”
“What?”
“Lucius has gone completely berserk!!” the captain screamed. “He single-handedly wiped out an entire squad of our City Guard! We can’t beat him—he’s intercepting everyone outside the city!”
“This…”
Arland was dizzy with shock, nearly collapsing to the ground.
But this was far from over.
“Your Highness! We’ve come to support you!!” Ajin shouted.
From the lower district, giant dragons in their true forms gathered and surged toward the central district en masse.
They were all impoverished citizens from the lower district—joining the battlefield.
Though their combat abilities were even weaker than Corolle’s gangs, they fought like madmen. Using their sheer numbers, several dragons surrounded and overwhelmed each elite of the City Guard. With a desperate, do-or-die determination, they achieved astonishing results.
Now, the City Guard had clearly fallen into an overwhelmingly disadvantaged position.
“What do we do, Chairman Arland?!” The nouveau nobles grabbed at Arland’s clothing, trembling. “Think of something! At this rate, we’re all going to die!!”
A way out…?
At this moment, Arland could barely think. Faced with Xia Yi, he couldn’t utter a single word. All his momentum was gone.
Xia Yi stood beneath Serra’s dragon wings, gazing down at the nouveau nobles.
“Now,” she said, “the time of judgment has come.”
