Volume 2 + Chapter 112: Can’t Hold On Anymore
Xia Yi withdrew her sword.
Meanwhile, Chen Tie lay sprawled on the ground, showing no intention of getting back up or resisting. From the look of it, he had accepted Xia Yi’s strength.
That also meant the battle was over.
All the members of the Cangqing Gang had witnessed this scene.
“Chen Tie?”
“…” Chen Tie kept his head down and didn’t speak.
Xia Yi wasn’t quite sure what he meant by this. Was he just going to sit there on the ground like he was throwing a tantrum?
That couldn’t be right—how could the current leader of the Cangqing Gang be that childish?
As she was puzzled, she heard Serra call out.
“Milady.”
“Hmm?”
“Take a look around,” Serra reminded her.
Xia Yi lifted her head and looked around—and only then did she realize…
The atmosphere had shifted.
“How did the boss lose again?”
“First he lost to that red dragon girl, and now he’s lost to this young dragon… is that silver-haired girl really that strong?”
“Is it possible that the girl isn’t that strong, and maybe… our boss is just…”
The Cangqing Gang members began murmuring among themselves. One doubtful voice after another rose, and even the gang’s officers were casting skeptical glances toward Chen Tie.
Under these gazes, Chen Tie felt like he was being roasted alive.
Damn it.
He cursed silently.
This had to be the lowest point of his life. The prestige he’d spent years building within the gang—now on the verge of collapsing.
And this was all after going all out in front of everyone, only to be defeated again. Twice in a row.
Chen Tie had never endured a blow like this before.
“Chen Tie?” Xia Yi looked at him.
“I… lost. I accept your request,” Chen Tie admitted with difficulty. He stood up, feeling as though all the stares from the gang members were piercing into him.
A gang boss couldn’t afford to show weakness. If the subordinates started doubting, internal instability was sure to follow—and they’d be hard to lead.
Just as Chen Tie was about to leave the training ground, Xia Yi called out to him.
“…Wait.”
“What is it?”
“Give me a moment. I’d like to say a few words to the Cangqing Gang.”
Chen Tie didn’t understand what she meant. But at this point, he had no more presence or authority left, so he gave her the floor and stepped aside, leaving the training ground to Xia Yi.
“Members of the Cangqing Gang, I can see it in your eyes—some of you want to challenge me, you’re eager to try,” Xia Yi said. “Because I defeated your gang leader, Chen Tie, right?”
No one from the gang responded.
Silence meant consent.
“Any one of you can challenge me. If you defeat me, I’ll immediately lower myself and apologize to the Cangqing Gang. You can even do whatever you want with me.”
Xia Yi’s voice reached every gang member’s ears.
Their expressions changed.
Everyone understood what that meant.
Chen Tie had lost to Xia Yi in just two moves. If someone could last longer against her—or even put up a better fight—that alone would place them above Chen Tie, shaking his leadership.
There wasn’t a single person who didn’t want to be the Cangqing Gang’s boss.
“Of course, if you lose, there’s no punishment. This is just to kill some time,” Xia Yi said with a shrug. “Cangqing Gang—anyone brave enough to step up? Don’t tell me you’re all too scared?”
The gang began to stir.
“I’ll do it! I’ll wash away this shame for the gang!”
“No, let me! I’ll avenge the boss!”
“Out of my way!”
One gang member shouted furiously, lifting a giant axe and forcing others to back down.
He was one of the gang’s officers, clearly possessing some real strength. The others backed off in fear, forming a path for him.
The officer walked proudly to the center of the training ground.
“Boss, don’t worry. I’ll teach this punk a lesson. You just watch from the side.”
He glanced at Chen Tie with a slightly arrogant look—his words clearly carried a double meaning.
Chen Tie said nothing. He simply closed his eyes.
“Then let’s go,” Xia Yi raised her sword.
“I don’t believe you’re really that strong!”
The officer charged with his axe.
Xia Yi lowered her head, her bangs covering her eyes, which began to glow faintly—
The Dragon King’s Pressure!
The officer froze like a puppet, his body stiff, mind blank. His entire frame trembled under the pressure of royalty.
Then, with a casual flick of her sword, Xia Yi sent him flying.
Everyone was stunned.
That was… it?
Xia Yi then turned her gaze toward the rest of the Cangqing Gang, scanning every face.
“Anyone else… dare pick up a weapon?”
“…”
Not a sound.
No one dared meet Xia Yi’s eyes. They were struck by primal fear, their breathing labored, clutching their chests as though they might collapse.
“I’ll ask again. If anyone wants to fight me, grab a weapon and step forward!” Xia Yi called out.
Some of the gang members had already covered their ears and fallen to the ground, shaking.
“Chen Tie stood before me and fought with everything he had. And you cowards don’t even have the guts to face me?” Xia Yi sneered. “You dare question his strength? Pathetic.”
She threw the iron sword onto the ground and stepped down from the training field.
As she passed Chen Tie, she heard the rugged man murmur sincerely:
“…Thank you.”
Xia Yi gave him a quiet smile in return.
Then Serra followed behind her as they left.
Only after Xia Yi was gone did the gang members dare to breathe again. They were drenched in sweat, finally realizing how foolish their thoughts had been. Looking once more at Chen Tie, standing firm, their respect returned.
—
“Uuuahhh!”
Xia Yi’s knees buckled and she collapsed.
Serra, her loyal handmaiden, rushed over and caught her.
“I can’t… can’t hold on anymore…”
Xia Yi’s eyes spun in circles, her speech slurred.
Maintaining the Dragon King’s pressure was far too taxing for someone still so young.
Especially when she’d pushed herself and used it against a whole crowd.
She had deliberately withheld the pressure from Chen Tie, directing it only at the other gang members. It seemed like a royal dragon’s indiscriminate bloodline suppression, but in truth it was a psychological trick to make them believe Chen Tie had endured it.
All of this was to help Chen Tie save face.
“No… no one’s watching, right…?!”
“No one, Your Highness. Don’t worry. It’s just us,” Serra said.
She picked up the temporarily immobile Xia Yi.
“How… how did I do? Tell me, quickly…!”
The drowsy little princess, cradled in her maid’s arms, asked in a soft, fluffy, childlike voice.
“Of course, Your Highness… was the strongest in the world… and the most adorab—amazing.”
