Chapter 235: Mu Lin: This proposal is good; now, it’s mine.
Yan Yunyu wasn’t alone. She had gathered with Yu Hu, Heshan, some students from Longyou Taoist Palace, and another group.
Had Mu Lin been nearby, he would’ve spotted familiar faces among them.
Qin Yuan, once a disciple of Master Meng Rui, and Zuo Li, who’d invited him to join the Savior Organization, stood with Yan Yunyu’s group, facing the woman washing her hair in the lake.
Unlike the Tree of Corpses, no fight broke out here. Instead, Qin Yuan and Zuo Li tried to persuade the woman.
“Lady of Pleasures Shu Rong, we aren’t enemies. Work with us. Those villains serving the evil gods only care about violence, slavery, madness, and slaughter. They won’t let you enjoy the path of delight.”
The Lady of Pleasures, still combing her hair, ignored them and giggled at the lake. “Hehe, hear that, Crazy Hunt, Black Mountain, and Crow God’s lackeys? They call you mad and evil!”
“Oh, and they want me to team up against you. What say you?”
The lake’s surface had turned mirror-like. Shadowy figures now spoke to her through the water.
Qin Yuan and Zuo Li’s eyes narrowed at the sight, their group stirring uneasily. The three cultist servants, however, remained unfazed.
“Violence? Madness? Slaughter?” one sneered. “Those aren’t insults—they’re compliments! Violence rules all. Might makes right!”
“Jijiji,” another cackled. “Schemes and slavery are life’s true beauties…”
A third voice rasped through the mirror: “Why bother? Our great master will soon descend. Join these doomed ants, and you’re seeking your own doom!”
Before the Lady of Pleasures could reply, Qin Yuan exploded: “You’re the ones who’ll die! Humanity will wipe every last one of you out!”
“Oh?”
The Crow God’s servant turned, mockery dripping from his voice. “You speak for all humans?” He snapped his fingers. Dozens of humans crawled forward, groveling at his feet.
“See? Your own kind brought the sacrifices for our arrival. Jijiji…”
“Traitors!” Zuo Li spat. “They’re not human!”
The kneeling cultists fired back: “Fools! The great ones are coming! We’re being practical!”
“You’re speeding humanity’s doom with this resistance!”
As Qin Yuan roared curses, the Lady of Pleasures covered her mouth, shoulders shaking with silent laughter.
“You see, you can’t even convince your own people. Working with you doesn’t seem like a good choice.”
These words darkened the expressions of many, but not their leader Zuo Li.
“Don’t mistake a few weaklings for all of humanity.”
“A big forest has all kinds of birds. I won’t deny some spineless humans exist, but we’re the rulers of this world. Our dominance didn’t fall into our laps.”
Turning to the Lady of Pleasures Shu Rong, Zuo Li spoke slowly, “We faced endless dangers and challenges to claim our rule. In the end, every rival vanished—only humans remain atop this world.”
“That includes beings equal to evil gods. Yet even they couldn’t steal our throne. You’re not as strong as you think!”
“Look at your current state. You sneaked into this illusion using cowards, but we’ve found you.”
“Fear belongs to you.”
Shu Rong giggled silently at this defiance, but another Servant of the gods—a follower of Crazy Hunt—snarled in rage.
“You’re the blind ones!”
“Worms! How dare you compare your kind to our glorious master? This land will become his hunting ground, and you’ll kneel!”
“And these weaklings?” He gestured dismissively. “These are your reinforcements?”
A wave of his hand dragged bound captives forward. Had Mu Lin been present, he’d have recognized them as fellow Taoist Palace students from the trial.
Zuo Li’s eyes narrowed as a terrified student shrieked, “Don’t touch me! I’m from Yuling City’s Chai family! Kill me, and my clan will hunt you down!”
“Yuhu Academy and Yuzhou’s Demon Exorcism Division will—”
*Crunch.*
The follower of Crazy Hunt crushed the student’s skull mid-sentence.
“How dare you?!”
Qin Yuan’s group recoiled in horror. Even Shu Rong and the cultists looked startled—the latter paling as they muttered, “He actually killed him! Tie Xun, aren’t you afraid? That boy had powerful backing!”
Though uneasy, Tie Xun scoffed. He relished the hunt too much to care. When Mu Lin’s group entered the secret realm, the trap had already sprung. Their identities exposed, human retaliation was inevitable—whether they spared lives or not meant nothing. The powerful clans’ mercy—or lack thereof—changed nothing.
Whether it was the royal family of the Great Spirit Dynasty or the powerful clans, as top forces in the world, none wanted more masters ruling over them. Especially when these masters were cruel, heartless slaughter-addicts.
Thus, unless forced, the royals and clans would never surrender.
Facing this, Tie Xun had two options: obey the mastermind’s will by slaughtering the clans’ heirs to burn bridges with humanity, or spare Yan Zhanpeng and Chu Hongxuan through compromise.
He chose the latter without hesitation.
Tie Xun reasoned this way – they came to conquer. No soft approach could make the clans surrender power, wealth, or territory. Appeasement would fail. Worse, weakness might make humans lose fear of them, inviting disaster.
So he picked another path – slaughter.
Kill until humans feared. Crush them with overwhelming violence until resistance seemed futile.
But this choice wasn’t just strategy. His brutal nature as Crazy Hunt’s follower pushed him toward violence. Killing strengthened him. Even if unwise, slaughter served both his temper and power growth.
The mastermind watched it all unfold.
"Mindless slaughter? Predictable. Footage secured?"
"Recorded, my lord."
"Copy and spread it everywhere. Let the clans see – these evil gods view humans as livestock. Traitors get slaughtered like sheep too."
"No more false hopes for humanity!"
…
Unaware of schemes, Tie Xun turned to Lady of Pleasures after killing captured students.
"Shu Rong, kill those humans behind you."
"Giggle. You can’t order me."
The crimson-robed woman glanced at Qin Yuan and Zuo Li instead. "Hear that? He wants your deaths here."
"You won’t," Qin Yuan countered. "Attacking us means endless human hunts for your cult. You hate hiding, don’t you?"
"True. But letting tasty morsels escape? What a waste." She licked her lips.
As tension mounted, Shu Rong proposed: "I’ll stay neutral if survivors give me ten men and ten women each."
"Never!" Qin Yuan spat. "I’ll die before yielding to evil ghosts!"
Shu Rong’s eyes narrowed at his hatred, then shifted to others behind him. "You too? Throw away brilliant futures for twenty nobodies? Your lives are worth thousands of peasants!"
Her honeyed voice dripped with poisoned logic. As pleasure’s servant, she stoked their fear of death. The world’s harsh class system helped – many noble-born truly believed their blood made them superior.
"Twenty peasant lives for mine? Fair trade!"
"Lady’s right – my survival benefits everyone!"
"If I die, my wife and wealth go to others! I must live!"
looked at the excited expressions of those behind Qin Yuan, Shu Rong smiled.
‘Falling like ripe fruit. Tie Xun’s a brute, crow-followers mere schemers. We pleasure-servants win through manipulation, not slaughter.’
She knew corruption breeds more corruption. First compromise erodes principles until total control follows.
But as victory neared, a dragon-man crashed from the sky.
"Trade twenty lives for yours? Good idea – I’ll use it!"
Mu Lin landed before her, scales gleaming.
"Now choose, wench – die here like trash, or kill twenty villains to survive!"
