Chapter 18: The Divide of Yin and Yang
“Husband! Husband, what’s wrong?!”
Li Guifang looked at the heart rate monitor, now showing a steady line, and her face changed dramatically.
Xue Shan Hai, who had been performing emergency measures, felt the same anxiety.
“Doctor Xue! Please save my husband!”
Li Guifang jumped up anxiously, her body shaking.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Xue Shan Hai immediately shouted for a nearby nurse to assist him with the emergency procedures.
“Make sure to give the patient oxygen! I’ll perform the emergency treatment!”
Xue Shan Hai placed his hands on Yang Tianzhi’s chest, preparing to begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Bai Chen shook his head at the sight.
“I advise you not to perform CPR on the patient. The pericardial effusion is very severe. There’s only a slim chance of saving him if we immediately take him for surgery.”
Xue Shan Hai’s forehead bulged with veins.
“If you don’t understand, don’t talk nonsense here! I think you all are deliberately making things worse for the patient!”
Li Guifang was furious, pointing at Bai Chen and shouting:
“It’s all your fault, you stinking traditional doctors! Hurry up and get out of the way!”
“Each of you is useless yet still making a fuss! If anything happens to my husband, you won’t escape!”
“My Yang Family in Lintai can deal with you like it’s as easy as crushing an ant!”
Upon hearing this, Liu Yuming’s expression stiffened, and then his eyebrows and mustache perked up in surprise.
He had been in Lintai for so long, and this was the first time anyone spoke to him like that!
“Good for the Yang Family! I look forward to seeing how you plan to deal with me!”
Bai Chen ignored Li Guifang and shifted his focus to the patient before him.
He had just drained Old Zhao’s pericardial effusion, but that didn’t mean the treatment was complete.
After removing the silver needles, Bai Chen sterilized the area again, then began to perform the Destiny Nine Needles technique.
Liu Yuming, watching this scene, was left in awe.
The needle technique Bai Chen was using was something he had never seen before!
But he knew this technique was even stronger than his Zhongjing acupuncture technique!
After applying the Destiny Nine Needles, Old Zhao’s complexion visibly brightened.
Moments later, Bai Chen struck Old Zhao’s back with his palm, and a mouthful of dark blood was expelled from Old Zhao’s mouth.
Old Zhao’s eyes slowly opened.
“What… what happened to me?”
Seeing her grandfather awaken, Zhao Ya immediately filled with joy.
“Grandpa, you’re awake!”
Zhao Ruilong shook his head and, when he finally took in the scene before him, still felt a bit dazed, not quite understanding what had happened.
“Old Zhao, you’ve been on the brink of death! You had a heart attack and pericardial effusion. If it weren’t for this doctor Bai Chen, you would have met the King of Hell!”
Liu Yuming couldn’t help but tease from the side, also feeling a sense of relief in his heart.
Zhao Ruilong then regained his composure and recalled the events leading up to this moment. He started to thank Bai Chen.
He knew that Liu Yuming had good medical skills.
But Liu Yuming said that it was this doctor Bai Chen who saved him.
Didn’t that mean Bai Chen’s skills were even better than Liu Yuming’s?
“Thank you, Doctor Bai Chen! If not for you, I would really be gone! I am Zhao Ruilong of the Zhao family; if you ever need anything, just let me know!”
Zhao Ya quickly expressed her gratitude to Bai Chen as well, handing him a business card.
“Doctor Bai, I apologize for my doubts earlier. Thank you for saving my grandpa! Here is our Zhao family’s business card; you can reach out to us anytime you need something!”
Bai Chen took the business card and discovered that the Zhao family dealt in medicinal herbs.
Liu Yuming chimed in beside him:
“Old Zhao, do you have any hundred-year-old purple ganoderma? Doctor Bai happens to need it!”
“Hundred-year-old purple ganoderma?”
Zhao Ruilong’s face showed a hint of difficulty.
“Well, we do have some, but it has been reserved by the Nan family…”
“So what if it’s reserved! They haven’t paid yet! Is this how you treat your benefactor?” Liu Yuming shouted.
Zhao Ruilong nodded in agreement: “You’re right. Since it is Doctor Bai who needs it, I’ll give it to you! After all, a life-saving grace cannot be repaid!”
Bai Chen was a bit surprised by Zhao Ruilong’s words. He didn’t expect that there really was hundred-year-old purple ganoderma and that it was reserved by the Nan family!
He just didn’t know who from the Nan family had made the reservation.
“Thank you. In the future, if I need other medicinal herbs, I will contact you, trading at market price.”
“No need for that. Just let us know what you need when the time comes, Doctor Bai!”
Zhao Ruilong urged Bai Chen not to be so polite.
Zhao Ya agreed, “Yes, Doctor Bai! You saved my grandpa, so you’re a friend of the Zhao family! No need to be so courteous!”
Zhao Ruilong nodded and said to Zhao Ya, “Xiao Ya, go back now and bring that hundred-year-old purple ganoderma over.”
“Okay!”
Seeing the two of them say this, Bai Chen did not decline, as he would indeed need a lot of medicinal materials in the future.
On the other side, Li Guifang looked at the now-awake Zhao Ruilong and sneered.
“I don’t know where you found this guy. How can someone wake up just from a few needles?”
“You scammers truly have no shame!”
Bai Chen glanced at Yang Tianzhi, whose face was already darkening, and gently shook his head.
“There’s no saving him now.”
Li Guifang was furious at those words, but just as she was about to respond, a sharp scream from a nearby nurse echoed in the room.
“The patient! The patient’s temperature has dropped!”
Li Guifang turned around and caught sight of Yang Tianzhi, whose face had already turned blue. Fear washed over her, turning her expression pale.
“Don’t scare me, dear! What’s wrong with you?”
Xue Shan Hai was still pressing down hard on Yang Tianzhi’s chest, sweat streaming down his forehead, feeling anxious himself.
Li Guifang rushed to Yang Tianzhi’s side, reaching out to touch him, only to feel his body cold to the touch.
Her heart dropped alongside Yang Tianzhi’s chilling body.
Seeing Xue Shan Hai still desperately performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Li Guifang’s anger surged. She pushed Xue Shan Hai aside.
“You’ve already killed him! What are you still doing here?”
Li Guifang cried and scolded Xue Shan Hai, “You incompetent doctor, you’ve killed my husband!”
Liu Yuming sighed at the scene before him.
“If I had known this would happen, I would have acted differently! Doctor Bai already mentioned that your method of treatment was flawed, but you didn’t believe him! You even called traditional Chinese medicine a scam, and now look—Western medicine hasn’t saved you either!”
At Liu Yuming’s words, a glimmer of hope sparked in Li Guifang’s eyes.
That’s right, wasn’t there still a great healer here?
With that thought, Li Guifang rushed to Liu Yuming, her face full of pleading.
“Doctor Liu! Aren’t you the greatest healer in Lintai? Please save my husband!”
Liu Yuming glanced at Yang Tianzhi’s condition and shook his head.
“I can’t help, it’s not that I don’t want to save him, but your husband is beyond saving now.”
Hearing Liu Yuming’s words, Li Guifang trembled, a wave of despair washing over her.
Just then, she noticed Bai Chen standing nearby, and a final flicker of hope ignited in her heart.
“Doctor Bai! Doctor Bai! I didn’t recognize your greatness earlier! I looked down on you! Can you please save my husband?”
Li Guifang cried, slapping her own face in regret.
Bai Chen shook his head. “If heaven has a hand in this, there may still be hope; but if it’s self-inflicted, there’s no saving you!”
“I have warned you before; you didn’t listen. Now that the patient is dying, it’s too late for regrets.”
At Bai Chen’s words, despair flashed in Li Guifang’s eyes, mingling with her regret.
She felt defeated!
“I truly deserve this!”
But when Li Guifang glanced at Xue Shan Hai, a look of hatred filled her eyes; it was this man who had killed her husband!
“Xue Shan Hai, I won’t let this go!”
