Chapter 71: Terror of Flying Needles
This was an exceptionally beautiful woman in her twenties, exuding mature charm. Her red gauze dress clung to her figure, revealing tantalizing curves. The pale expanse of her chest and two quivering mounds threatened to blind any onlooker.
Any normal man would feel primal urges facing such temptation. Yet Black Bear showed only solemn wariness.
"Big sis," Black Bear pleaded weakly, "why pick my arena? Climbing this stage wasn’t easy!"
"No reason~" The Red-Clad Woman drawled, stretching lazily. "I simply chose the nearest fighting platform. Why set up shop at my doorstep if you can’t handle visitors?"
"But I checked!" Black Bear protested. "The closest arena to your home is three hundred li away! This one’s four thousand li distant!"
"Oh?" She blinked innocently, biting her lip. "Did I… get lost again?"
"Lost?" Black Bear groaned. "By thousands of li? That’s not getting lost – that’s teleporting!"
"My business!" She snapped, hands on hips. "I’m here now. What of it?"
Black Bear sighed. "Could you… leave?"
"Absolutely not!" She huffed. "Do you know how long I wandered to find this wretched place?"
The bear-man facepalmed internally. I hate directionally challenged women.
Spectators cackled below. "The Needle Witch versus Dumb Bear! Ten silver says he’s kissing floor tiles within minutes!"
"Not just kneeling – watch how she makes him grovel last time! That swordsman ended up bowing to his own buttocks!"
Fang Lie cocked his head. "Who’s this red vixen?"
Longxing Tianxia leaned in. "Zhen Hong Yi of the Eight-Hundred-Generation Families. Their secret art? Mechanical Needle Arrays. Could’ve entered inner gate years ago, but refused any master beneath her standards."
"Needles?" Fang Lie grimaced. "Detestable things."
Flying needles were trickster’s tools – weak in brute force but blindingly fast. Worse, their faint magic trails vanished in battle chaos. While warriors clashed swords and spells, death came silently, a glint in peripheral vision.
Black Bear stalled, catching his breath. Zhen Hong Yi tapped her foot. "Must we wait? Even at full power, you’d last three breaths. Four if I yawn."
"I’ve got… at least ten percent chance!" The bear growled.
"None." She twirled a hairpin that glinted too sharply. "One needle. One heartbeat."
"Insulting!" Black Bear roared. "Kill me properly!"
"Try me." She smirked. "Fail to drop you instantly, I’ll forfeit."
"Deal!" Spittle flew as he bellowed at the referee. "Start the damn match!"
The referee outside nodded expressionlessly and fell silent, though curiosity flickered in his eyes.
Black Bear wasn’t ordinary – a minor genius with a four-hundred-zhang Qi Sea. Those with lesser talent would’ve already rushed into Advancing in the Golden Pool. Only those with grand ambitions kept expanding their Qi Sea like this.
With his talent, Black Bear could at least become a Nascent Soul True Immortal. Such individuals possessed combat strength far beyond their peers. Defeating him in one strike at the same cultivation level seemed impossible. Even renowned experts wouldn’t claim they could instantly defeat him in the Qi Sea realm.
Yet Zhen Hong Yi had the audacity to make such a bold claim! Cultivators always keep their word; those who lie or cheat risk heart demons, so no one dared bluff. Everyone believed her. If she failed, she’d leave immediately despite the embarrassment.
This made the crowd intensely curious – what gave Zhen Hong Yi such confidence to defeat Big Black Bear in one move? Even Fang Lie watched intently, determined not to miss any detail.
Black Bear stood panting heavily, glaring at Zhen Hong Yi. Magic energy swirled around him as his mechanical steel bear emitted killing intent, locking onto the red-clothed woman.
Zhen Hong Yi appeared completely unconcerned. Yawning lazily, she said, "You’ve just fought and lost some Magic. I’ll let you attack first to avoid accusations of bullying."
"You’ll regret this!" Black Bear growled. He charged with his mechanical steel bear, their heavy footsteps kicking up yellow dust that obscured spectators’ view.
Black Bear protected his chest and face while thinking, "That needle can’t defeat me! At worst, I’ll get minor Injuries if my Dao magic breaks. I’ll stay standing and force YOU to surrender!"
Zhen Hong Yi yawned sleepily and flicked her sleeve. A crimson streak shot out – so fast observers only saw red light flash. Even Fang Lie admitted he couldn’t block this strike.
But Black Bear rejoiced – the attack was clearly aimed at his mechanical steel bear! "Did she mistake me for my bear?" he thought excitedly.
As victory seemed certain, an unseen red thread suddenly pierced his neck! Though not immediately fatal, delaying treatment meant death.
"I yield!" Black Bear choked out painfully.
The Great Rain Blessing Spell immediately healed him. "What happened?" Black Bear demanded. "Your needle hit my bear!"
"Look closer," Zhen Hong Yi sneered.
Inspecting his mechanical steel bear, Black Bear found a needle-thin groove on its neck. His eyes widened. "You ricocheted the needle off my bear to hit me?!"
"Correct." Zhen Hong Yi smiled smugly. "My flying needles have some skill, no?"
Black Bear rolled his eyes. Some skill? This was divine-level technique!
