Chapter 30: No Regrets

The Law Enforcement Heavenly Soldiers ceased arguing and seized Zhou the Skinflint, attempting to skirt around the blocking stewards.

The Gentle Breeze Tower stewards couldn’t allow their departure—they desperately needed to stall until reinforcements arrived. Failure meant certain doom.

They blocked the path again, protesting: "Fang Lie, we’re all Mo Sect members! Must you be so extreme?"

"You dare arrest someone openly in Gentle Breeze Tower? You insult us!"

"Release him now if you want future goodwill!"

Fang Lie chuckled darkly. "Or what? Cut my Sect Benefits? Steal my contribution points?"

The stewards faltered.

Fang Lie’s voice turned icy. "Honored stewards seem forgetful. Let me remind you—my siblings and I haven’t received Sect Benefits for ten years. We complete every sect mission, working hardest each time, yet our contribution points can’t even buy two low-grade Dao manuals!"

His grin turned feral. "After all you’ve stolen, what more can you take?"

The Chief Steward gaped wordlessly.

Spectating disciples murmured in shock:

"Ten years without benefits? Can this be true?"

"Zhou’s crew always exploits others. Fang Lie’s group works like beasts but dresses in rags—their points must’ve been stolen!"

"Five people’s decade-long contributions could buy multiple first-rank treasures!"

"Look at these stewards’ fancy gear! Zhou bought a Shadow Heart-Questioning Dagger worth fifty thousand recently—a century’s wages!"

"Thieves! No wonder Fang Lie’s raging. I’d gut them too!"

The hissed accusations made stewards redden with shame. The Chief Steward cursed inwardly—he’d never ordered this cruelty. Zhou’s greed had backfired spectacularly.

Fang Lie noticed the stewards’ lingering resistance despite their shame. "Stalling for reinforcements?" he guessed.

The stewards paled. Weren’t Fang men supposed to be gullible fools? This youth saw through their scheme!

Thunder rumbled as azure lightning clouds approached. Crushing Spiritual Pressure forced heads to bow—a Thunder Tribulation Immortal approached!

"The Ancestral Hall Leader! Great Immortal Zhou of the Faith Token!"

The stewards brightened. The Chief Steward jeered, "Reinforcements arrived, brat! Your arrogance ends here!"

Fang Lie scoffed. "A Thunder Tribulation Immortal backs your corruption? No matter! Mo Sect Rules reign supreme. This investigation proceeds—let’s see who overrules sect law!"

Rage simmered beneath his words. The Mo Sect’s higher-ups disgusted him—even their "Bravery" Token Lord bullied the weak, attacking Fang Lie for Cycle of Fire secrets.

And this Faith Token Lord was actually the major backer behind Gentle Breeze Tower. Most of the embezzled goods from the tower had likely ended up in his possession.

The Mo Sect only had five great Token Lords. Fang Lie hadn’t even officially assumed his position yet, and already half of the remaining four were rotten!

What had happened to the Mo Sect?

While grieving internally, Fang Lie resolved firmly: if this Ancestral Hall Leader Great Immortal Zhou truly dared to shield Zhou the Skinflint’s group, he’d strip the man of his Ancestor’s Token even at the cost of his own life, sending him to Cold Prison to join Brave Token Lord Lei Zhengfeng!

Yet both Fang Lie and the stewards completely misjudged Great Immortal Zhou’s purpose this time.

The thunderclouds suddenly churned, unleashing five bucket-thick lightning bolts that struck the Five Great Stewards of Gentle Breeze Tower.

Chief Steward and Zhou the Skinflint vanished into ash without uttering a sound, along with their three companions.

"Aah!" Thousands of gathered disciples gasped collectively, bewildered by Great Immortal Zhou’s actions.

Everyone knew Great Immortal Zhou headed the Zhou Family among Eight-Hundred-Generation Families. Zhou the Skinflint was his descendant – that’s why he’d gotten the steward position.

In truth, all Five Great Stewards were either Zhou Family members, disciples, or sons-in-law, thoroughly entangled with the clan.

When Great Immortal Zhou appeared, all assumed he’d save his kin. Instead, he obliterated them instantly.

His thunderous declaration followed: "These Five Great Stewards committed gross corruption and power abuse during service. Their execution serves as warning!"

His tone softened toward Fang Lie: "Your report merits reward. The sect will doubly compensate owed resources. Does this satisfy you?"

Cultivators murmured praise: "Truly worthy of Ancestral Hall Leader – impartial and upright!"

"What fortune for Mo Sect to have such a leader!"

"Fang Lie’s ancestral graves must be smoking with luck!"

Envious eyes turned toward Fang Lie, many wishing to trade places.

Yet Fang Lie displayed no gratitude, retorting coldly: "I’m completely unsatisfied."

"What?" Great Immortal Zhou roared. "State your grievances!"

"Countless issues!" Fang Lie snapped. "As Hall Leader, don’t you know sect laws? All offenders require public Ancestral Hall trials with confessions before punishment! You executed without questioning – treating lives as weeds!"

"You-" The immortal struggled before defending: "I acted hastily from anger! Their crimes warranted death regardless."

"Perhaps not weeds, but silencing witnesses fits perfectly!" Fang Lie scoffed.

"Preposterous!"

"They expected rescue, even summoned you secretly! Yet you killed without inquiry. Think us all blind fools?"

Thunderclouds boiled above Fang Lie as Great Immortal Zhou flushed crimson, continuous rumbles threatening imminent strikes.

The crowd stood dumbstruck. None were fools – all sensed the hidden filth, but none dared confront a Thunder Tribulation Immortal.

Great Immortal Zhou’s earlier gentleness aimed to placate Fang Lie, hoping for quiet closure.

They underestimated Fang Lie’s single-minded rigidity. He tolerated no specks of injustice, persisting relentlessly even when facing supreme immortals or mighty clans – without hesitation or regret.
