Chapter 23: Beat Them All to Death

When everyone heard Fang Lie’s words, they turned pale with shock.

"Fang Lie, must you go this far?" the Red-Robed Immortal roared. "I didn’t kill you!"

"But you plotted to kill me—that’s enough!" Fang Lie retorted coldly.

"Yet you’re still alive!" the Red-Robed Immortal shouted.

"My luck, your misfortune," Fang Lie replied calmly.

"You—!" The Red-Robed Immortal choked on his rage.

Another scoundrel who’d lied pleaded, "Fang Lie, I was drunk and confused when I gave false testimony. Must I die for that?"

"Not confused—calculating!" Fang Lie sneered. "If you dared shield them and trouble me, face the consequences!"

"You preach sect rules yet seek revenge! Is the Fang Family’s ‘integrity’ a lie?" the man spat. "Hypocrites, all of you!"

"Lies!" Fang Lie snapped. "The rules state: those who shield the guilty share their fate. Understand?"

The man froze. The rule was clear. By shielding the Red-Robed Immortal, his own crime became capital.

Pitiful—dozens lost lives over mere words. With the Red-Robed Immortal’s group, nearly a hundred faced death, all Golden Pool experts or higher, including three Nascent Soul True Immortals. A heavy blow to the Mo Sect!

Watching cultivators trembled, thinking, *What’s happening? Over a thousand died yesterday, another hundred today! Will Fang Lie wipe us all out?*

Yuan Qing wrestled with inner turmoil. He loathed killing—each death meant feuds with powerful clans. Yet sparing them meant his own demise under Fang Lie’s watch. Survival demanded action, but the Eight-Hundred-Generation Families’ wrath would fall on him. Rumors and scorn would ruin him, leaving him wishing he were dead.

For a moment, he nearly attacked Fang Lie—if he must die, why not drag the fiend down? But reason won. To avenge his family, he must live. In the Ancestral Hall, fighting was futile. He bit back tears and ordered, "My apologies to all. Law Enforcement Heavenly Soldiers—execute every attacker and perjurer!"

Hundreds of Law Enforcement Heavenly Soldiers seized the condemned. Flaming and watery great rods rose and fell, splitting flesh as the Red-Robed Immortal and others howled, their cries chilling the crowd.

Ten thousand spectators watched, drenched in cold sweat. Over a hundred masters slain in moments—losses exceeding a year’s battles! The dying cursed Fang Lie and Yuan Qing, branding the latter "Fang Lie’s lapdog!"

Both men wept—Yuan Qing in fury, Fang Lie in delight. Thus ended the ambush, with a hundred Golden Pool experts dead, shaking the Mo Sect anew.

Of course, beyond Fang Lie’s cruelty, what truly baffled everyone was how he survived at all!

By all reasoning, even a single Golden Pool expert should’ve easily crushed Fang Lie given his low cultivation. Escaping shouldn’t have been possible!

Yet against all odds, he’d slipped through the siege of dozens of masters. Worse, he reappeared the next day without a scratch—utterly inconceivable!

Many later mocked the Red-Robed Immortal’s group, demanding how so-called "Immortals" could fail to kill a mere Qi Sea realm junior.

As Fang Lie stirred chaos again in the Ancestral Hall, demanding executions for over a hundred Mo Sect experts, the three remaining Token Lords convened in a Secret Realm through shadow projections.

Huo Wufang of the External Affairs Hall scowled. "Clan Leader, this Fang Lie’s bloodlust knows no bounds! Another hundred Golden Pool experts dead—combined with yesterday’s thousand, that’s a decade’s worth of Mo Sect battlefield losses! At this rate, he’ll slaughter us into extinction!"

Mo Qianxun, Mo Sect’s Clan Leader, sighed. "Not all Mo Sect disciples are fools who can’t kill a Qi Sea junior. Frankly, dying by Fang Lie’s hand is less shameful than being humiliated by low-level Cultivators abroad."

"But how?" Huo Wufang pressed. "The Shadow Record Stone showed him surrounded by Golden Pool Dao magic and treasures. How did a Qi Sea whelp escape unscathed?"

Mo Qianxun stroked his beard. "The stone lacks aura traces. I can only speculate."

"Perhaps a teleportation talisman?" Huo Wufang suggested. "A rare Fire-type talisman could’ve whisked him away undetected."

Zhou Zhengqing, Ancestral Hall Leader, snorted without opening his eyes. "Teleportation talismans require Immortal-level crafting. Each costs over a hundred thousand spirit stones. That pauper lacks even basic magical tools—where’d he get one?"

Huo Wufang fell silent.

After a pause, Mo Qianxun mused, "The Cycle of Fire holds the Ancestor’s Token and another secret. Perhaps a treasure…"

"Exactly!" Huo Wufang exclaimed. "Fang Lie entered broken by the three unyielding tortures, yet emerged healed with wings! No known Dao magic achieves this—only immortal-grade elixirs or treasures could. The ancestors must’ve left such relics there!"

The two leaders’ eyes lit up.

"Well reasoned, Junior Brother," Mo Qianxun nodded. "This explains much."

Zhou Zhengqing observed lightly, "If Fang Lie possesses multiple teleportation talismans, eliminating him grows difficult."

Huo Wufang grinned. "Once we deduce his tricks, countermeasures follow. Our juniors aren’t fools—their next attempt will be thorough. Fang Lie’s days are numbered!"

As discussions faded, Fang Lie departed after witnessing the executions. His return journey proved uneventful—though countless hostile Cultivators watched, none dared act. Today’s massacre had silenced the reckless.

Approaching his sacred mountain, Fang Lie saw Law Enforcement Heavenly Soldiers patrolling. Despite lurking threats, none challenged him.

With a derisive snort, he entered his cave dwelling. The sight of his younger siblings waiting unharmed tightened his throat—for once, tears threatened the unyielding Fang Lie.
