Chapter 19: Dare to Kill Me
An Innate Dao Body was truly extraordinary. Even Thunder Tribulation Immortals considered themselves fortunate to possess partial acquired Dao Bodies, still lightyears away from attaining an Innate Dao Body.
Fang Lie estimated that even after gathering all five innate great five elements nascent fetuses, reaching the Innate Dao Body realm would require immense time.
Yet even incomplete transformation brought benefits. Each new Dao Pattern forming on his body accelerated his absorption of Nascent Soul energy, boosting his cultivation speed.
As Dao Patterns multiplied, Fang Lie’s cultivation speed snowballed exponentially. Once achieving the complete Innate Dao Body, a single breath would channel more spiritual energy than he could accumulate in a thousand years at his current rate!
Moreover, these Dao-infused divine patterns weren’t merely self-enhancements – they manifested as lethal Dao magic growing more formidable over time.
The Innate Great Five Elements Nascent Fetus Classic operated perpetually once mastered, requiring no active cultivation. New Dao Patterns constantly emerged in his Qi Sea, churning spiritual energy and autonomously absorbing ambient Nascent Soul energy.
Essentially, practicing this scripture meant nonstop cultivation with ever-increasing efficiency. It accelerated both cultivation progress and Dao magic mastery simultaneously – dual pinnacle achievements through singular effort.
This terrifying efficacy earned the scripture its reputation as the supreme cultivation method. Only its prohibitive entry requirements limited practitioners.
Watching Fang Lie’s progress stabilize, the old bird nodded approvingly. "The Linglong Qi Locking Tower restrains yet aids you. While the scripture’s speed introduces spiritual impurities harmful for advancement, this tower excels at purification. Your twelve-layer version rivals Eighth-rank treasures in materials and craftsmanship – peerless for refining magic energy."
"Don’t fret your current capacity. It’ll suffice even when your Qi Sea spans thousands of miles!" The old bird chuckled. "A serendipitous misfortune, perhaps?"
"I’d rather avoid such ‘fortune’," Fang Lie retorted irritably. Suddenly he asked, "My lifespan remains the critical issue, correct?"
"Precisely. The Divine Phoenix Nirvana Scripture renders your body undying but can’t renew your true spirit’s finite lifespan. Without cultivation breakthroughs, death awaits."
"What about longevity pills?"
"Useless. They affect flesh, not the true spirit seed." The old bird shrugged. "No pill exists for that."
"Damn! Then I must gamble everything!"
"Indeed." The old bird suddenly added, "Remember – the Divine Phoenix Nirvana Scripture isn’t absolute. Certain Ancient Treasures employing karmic curses can bypass your body to annihilate your true spirit seed. Eternal death. Stay vigilant against such foes."
"The scripture’s heir fears curses?" Fang Lie grimaced. "With countless curse-wielding demons abroad, how can I possibly guard against them all?"
"Ordinary scoundrels pose no threat. Your true spirit seed resides in this small secret realm under my Ninth-Rank Treasure’s protection – secure as Mount Tai. Common curses fail. This warning simply reminds you – undying nature isn’t invincibility."
"Understood." Fang Lie nodded. "I must return – my siblings need reassurance after today’s ordeal."
"Go. We’ll reunite outside soon enough."
Fang Lie knew the Eight-Hundred-Generation Families wouldn’t ignore their humiliation. They’d be waiting.
His undying nature dismissed such concerns. "Let those cowards come! I’ll bury them all!" He bowed and departed.
Exiting the Ancestral Hall, golden Divine Phoenix Wings unfurled, propelling him skyward.
Dozens of message-carrying Flying Swords erupted from surrounding Shadows as he left – testament to his numerous watchers.
Fang Lie ignored the sword beams, enthralled by the Divine Phoenix Wings’ exhilarating velocity. Now he understood the old bird’s "Divine Phoenix Speed" praise.
Despite his feeble cultivation accessing mere fractions of their power, his flight resembled a meteor’s streak. By his estimate, he now outpaced Flying Sword riders, rivaling Golden Pool Masters in speed!
As Fang Lie’s Qi Sea expanded and his Magic grew stronger, his speed increased further. Most crucially, this improvement had no upper limit.
With sufficient Magic, Fang Lie could even fly faster than light—such power truly defied the heavens!
But his triumph didn’t last. Over thirty uninvited Cultivators blocked his path, ranging from Golden Pool level practitioners to a Nascent Soul True Immortal.
After surrounding Fang Lie, the red-robed Immortal clutching a Flying Sword stepped forward. His voice dripped venom: "Fang Lie, I must applaud your audacity. After slaughtering so many from our Eight-Hundred-Generation Families, you stroll back instead of fleeing? How dare you show such contempt?"
"Of course I scorn your Eight-Hundred-Generation Families!" Fang Lie retorted. "What can you actually do to me now?"
"Still stubborn!" The Red-Robed Immortal bellowed. "You think I won’t kill you?"
"You guessed right—none of you cowards dare kill me!" Fang Lie sneered. "Come then! Strike me down! If not, you’re all spineless curs!"
This taunt ignited the surrounding Cultivators’ fury. The Red-Robed Immortal and others unleashed their skills—ten zhang Fire Dragons, three zhang ice blades, and various spells erupted alongside flashing treasures: swords, spears, axes, and more.
Dozens of attacks bombarded Fang Lie. Even a Nascent Soul True Immortal would perish under such assault, let alone a Qi Sea level disciple. Darkness swallowed Fang Lie’s vision as consciousness fled.
The converging Dao magics and treasures collided midair, triggering thunderous explosions. Had this occurred on ground, it would’ve blasted a bottomless pit.
When smoke cleared, no trace remained—no corpse, not even fabric scraps.
"Dead?"
"Obviously! Not even we’d survive that!"
"But where’s the body? Shouldn’t there be debris?"
"Strange—no remains. Did he escape?"
"Nonsense!" The Red-Robed Immortal roared. "We had him surrounded! If he survived, I’ll take my own life!"
New groups of Cultivators arrived shouting: "Don’t kill him yet! I want him Thousand Cuts!"
Approaching, they found nothing. A green-robed Elder demanded: "Where’s Fang Lie? Did you let him flee?"
"Impossible!" insisted the Red-Robed Immortal. "He’s dead!"
"Dead? Where’s the body?"
"Reduced to ashes by our combined assault!"
"Damn you!" An old Immortal shouted. "I wanted Thousand Cuts for my grandson’s vengeance!"
"Enough," another said. "He’s dead. Disperse." The Cultivators sighed, returning to their cave dwellings.
