Chapter 177: Qingyu Island
The terrifying power slammed Fang Lie against the wall, making him slide down slowly. Blood trickled from his mouth as he struggled to rise.
The old bird greeted him with mocking laughter. "Haha, this is absolutely hilarious! First time I’ve seen anyone stupid enough to approach an active Nascent Soul Furnace. Kid, does having an undying nature make you crave punishment? Never guessed you had such twisted tastes!"
"Bird Bro, that’s low!" Fang Lie grimaced. "You knew I’m clueless about Mechanical arts yet didn’t warn me!"
"Didn’t warn you?" The old bird retorted. "Told you a hundred times to stay cautious! But you went charging at treasures like a fool. Your death would’ve been your own doing!"
"Alright, my mistake!" Fang Lie conceded. "How do I handle this thing?"
"Shut it down first, obviously!" The old bird sighed. "Listen – I’ll teach you a control secret technique. Execute every step flawlessly to deactivate it."
"Oh?" Fang Lie blinked. "So closing this just needs some secret technique? Simple enough!"
"Simple? You idiot!" The old bird snapped. "Normally each Nascent Soul Furnace has unique controls known only to its owner. Intruders can’t shut them down – smashing them triggers Self-Detonation rivaling sixth-rank magical items’ explosions!"
"Then why do you know the method?" Fang Lie frowned. "Shouldn’t only owners have this?"
"Moron!" The bird hissed. "This treasure ship’s Nascent Soul Furnace uses Mo Sect craftsmanship. We always plant backdoors in sold items for retrieval. Mo Ancestor’s secret technique works on all Mo Sect furnaces!"
"Ah!" Fang Lie groaned. "Selling goods while keeping control – feels dishonest."
"Necessary precaution!" The bird countered. "Mo Ancestor’s decree. Don’t like it? Don’t use it."
"No, no! I’ll use it!" Fang Lie backpedaled.
"Then swear an oath!" The bird grew stern. "Never share this except with future Benevolence Token Lords. Even the Mo Sect Leader isn’t qualified. This isn’t trivial!"
"I swear secrecy!" Fang Lie vowed immediately.
"Good." The bird nodded, imparting the intricate technique – thousands of steps mastered swiftly by Fang Lie’s sharp mind. After fifteen minutes, the furnace darkened and cooled.
Storing the deactivated device, Fang Lie pressed, "More treasures?"
"Eight Taiyi Divine Lightning Towers worth a fifth-rank treasure combined." The bird instructed. "Dismantle them all."
Nodding eagerly, Fang Lie raced back through powerless corridors. With traps disabled, he smashed through walls, reaching the deck in minutes.
The Divine Lightning Towers stood as separate units, normally requiring half-day disassembly rituals. But with security systems down, Fang Lie simply hacked them free with his Chifeng Sword – all eight removed under fifteen minutes.
"What next?" His voice trembled with dismantling fever.
The bird scoffed. "Just the wrecked hull now. Battle damage ruined its integrity. Dump the scraps into Cycle of Fire – we’ll extract Second-tier materials like Red-Hot Copper later."
"Alright, I understand!" Fang Lie nodded, then began dismantling the treasure ship with his Chifeng Sword.
With the Nascent Soul Furnace gone, all protective restrictions had failed, making the ship as fragile as tofu against the top-grade fourth-tier flying sword.
Fang Lie effortlessly sliced the massive treasure ship into sections, using the Sending-Home Art to dispatch each piece back to the Cycle of Fire.
After clearing the entire vessel, Fang Lie hovered above the endless ocean, observing floating debris and corpses when sudden realization struck.
"Damn it!" he urgently asked the old bird, "I don’t know how to reach Qingyu Island! What now?"
"You fool!" the old bird chuckled. "Didn’t those captured Sumeru Bags contain sea charts?"
"Right!" Fang Lie smacked his forehead. "Battle haze muddled my mind!"
He produced a Sumeru Bag and scanned it with divine sense, retrieving an Animal Skin Map. The crude yet functional treasure responded when Fang Lie channeled magic into it, floating midair as a three-foot square chart. A green arrow marked his position while indicating flight direction.
Locating Qingyu Island, Fang Lie adjusted his bearing until the arrow aligned. With Divine Phoenix Golden Wings unfurled, he shot forward at speeds rivaling Purple Palace realm cultivators. Elation made him ascend recklessly until divine lightning struck without warning.
The Demon-Subduing Golden Bowl and Alchemy Cauldron 222 activated automatically, but the bolt shattered their protective divine lights. Electrocuted into a charred mass, Fang Lie plummeted seaward. The treasures’ might and his resilient body prevented instant death, though heavy injuries required prolonged seawater immersion after failed Healing Art attempts.
"222 saved me," Fang Lie shuddered.
"Arrogant Qi Sea cultivator!" the old bird snapped. "The Ninth Heavens Fierce Heavenly Winds would’ve slain ten of you!"
"My mistake," Fang Lie conceded, skimming waves cautiously thereafter.
After thirty-six hours’ flight, Northern Region’s Qingyu Island emerged – a mist-veiled landmass resembling a fifteen-hundred-li fish. Approaching the tail section with Mo Wanfang’s jade token, Fang Lie entered unimpeded.
The settlement within contained merely one street flanked by shops. Dozens of cultivators populated the noon scene – mostly Golden Pool experts with occasional Qi Sea servants. All eyes turned to the bizarre newcomer: a one-eyed Qi Sea cultivator sporting golden "Dao De" wings, plummeting awkwardly onto the cobblestones.
