Chapter 137: The Fierce Battle of the Three Heroes
Without a doubt, Fang Lie’s success in turning the tables came entirely from his divine skill, the Earth Eye.
After days of travel where he avoided demon beast territories, Fang Lie finally reached his destination. Knowing the dangers, he proceeded with extreme caution.
From hundreds of miles away, Fang Lie scouted using the Earth Eye. He immediately spotted those scoundrels and witnessed their discussions through the divine vision. Though the Earth Eye showed images without sound, Fang Lie easily deduced their scheme.
Seeing their illusion formation and patient ambush, Fang Lie became ninety percent certain they planned to ambush him during his fight with the Iron-Beaked Bird. He tested them by flying slowly overhead. When they merely watched without attacking, Fang Lie decisively struck first.
Four treasure cannonballs exploded among them, leaving the group screaming in agony. Though none died, Xiao Xuanzi and the others nearly exhausted their life-saving treasures to survive.
The survivors suffered internal injuries and dizziness from both explosions and treasure backlash. Their combat strength dropped to sixty percent of normal.
Xiao Xuanzi and Puhua, though proud warriors at full power, now exchanged wary glances. Mutual distrust froze them in place, each considering retreat.
Bai First Young Master snapped, "Fight together and we stand a chance! Flee alone and he’ll pick us off! Then he’ll dominate this Secret Realm unchallenged!"
Puhua suddenly noticed Fang Lie’s eyepatch. "Your undying nature heals all wounds. Why keep that blind eye?"
"Guess," Fang Lie replied, tapping the patch.
"Divine skill!" Puhua gasped. "An Eye Technique!"
"Damn!" Xiao Xuanzi wheeled on Bai First Young Master. "You knew his sect secrets! Why didn’t warn us?"
"How could I?" Bai First Young Master retorted. "He gained this power days ago! Your pathetic scouting failed!"
"Enough!" Puhua interrupted as Fang Lie chuckled. "We’re becoming his entertainment!"
"Laugh while you can!" Bai First Young Master roared. Twelve Cold Mountain Swords materialized as white dragons around him. "Attack together!"
Xiao Xuanzi’s Flying Sword erupted with dragon-like fury, its Sword Energy stretching hundreds of yards toward Fang Lie. Neither moved first, both awaiting Puhua’s decision.
Puhua frowned and suddenly said, "Fang Lie, do you intend to kill us all?"
"Obviously," Fang Lie replied lightly. "Since you conspired to ambush me with them, why would I spare you?"
"Alas," Puhua sighed heavily. "Then so be it. Amitābha, we fight!"
Golden radiance erupted from his body, enveloping him in divine light that resembled Buddha’s holy manifestation.
"Three against one? Perfect!" Fang Lie roared, his battle cry shaking the heavens. "Let’s dance! Detonate!"
His body shuddered violently as his Qi Sea expanded. Magic surged tenfold, forming a whirling magic tornado above him.
"Burn! My battle-fueled blood!"
Crimson flames engulfed Fang Lie, reeking of iron. The magic tornado doubled in size, becoming a hundred-yard pillar piercing the clouds.
"The Explosion Qi Technique and Blood Ignition Technique?" Puhua gasped. "Amitābha! He’s crippling himself at battle’s start?"
"His magic can’t sustain this!" Xiao Xuanzi exclaimed eagerly. "We just need to stall – he’ll collapse!"
Bai First Young Master scoffed. "Fool! This is his standard opener. The bastard uses his undying nature to boost magic twentyfold through self-harm. Even against us, his reserves suffice. With his pathetic few-hundred-yard Qi Sea, I’d have crushed him already without your help."
"He uses these techniques every time?" Xiao Xuanzi paled. "But these are crippling moves!"
"Undying nature… truly fearsome?" Puhua murmured in awe.
"Of course!" Bai snapped. "He’s Mo Ancestor’s successor! Now attack together before he slaughters us all!"
Twelve frost dragons materialized as Bai struck first. Xiao Xuanzi’s crimson Sword Energy coalesced into a colossal blade resembling a toppling jade column, its destructive aura blotting the sky.
Puhua sat motionless, chanting sutras that pierced minds like needles. His Guanyin’s Serenity Sutra tormented listeners with relentless memories of past sins – harmless normally, but lethal during combat.
The trio coordinated perfectly: Xiao Xuanzi pressing frontal assaults, Bai’s Flying Swords flanking, Puhua’s chants disrupting focus. Against this onslaught, even superior warriors would perish.
Fang Lie grinned fiercely. True comprehension of Dao came through battling elites like these. Death meant nothing – each resurrection strengthened his cultivation.
Treasures materialized in answer to his roar:
Golden Eagle’s thunderstorm forced Xiao Xuanzi into evasive maneuvers.
Clear Wind Bright Moon Sword darted through frost dragons, harrying Bai.
Soul-Settling Bell’s tolls countered Puhua’s chants.
Five Elements and Eight Trigrams Dao Robe conjured five rotating shields.
Blood God Puppet hurled Soulfire Lances at Xiao Xuanzi’s prized top-grade fourth-tier Flying Sword – the greatest threat needing elimination.
