Chapter 98: Returning to the Ten-Summon Big Family! (1)
Slash!
In that frozen moment, Mu Ling’s form became nothing more than an afterimage.
She glided past the smoke person’s body with ethereal grace.
Following her “upgrade,” Mu Ling had transformed remarkably, now wielding power, speed, and combat prowess far beyond her previous capabilities.
At this moment, she stood undoubtedly among the mighty.
Time stood motionless.
The end.
The smoke man suddenly realized that the human who had materialized to obstruct his path was now behind him!
It whirled around to strike, while Mu Ling remained composed with her back to the smoke man, her silvery hair dancing in the breeze.
In those fleeting seconds prior, she had already delivered enough fatal blows to end her opponent.
The battle had concluded long before.
The legs of black smoke began to dissolve, followed by the gradual disintegration of the smoke man’s entire form.
The smoke man gestured in a final roar, struggling desperately to maintain his form, but it was futile. He slowly dispersed until nothing remained but empty air.
Maryse, having recovered through her regenerative abilities, opened her eyes and found herself momentarily stunned by the scene before her.
Had she truly grown so powerful?
Yet Maryse felt neither envy nor displeasure in her heart. After all, “Nightsaber” had become one of only two friends she held dear.
“Mission accomplished.”
Even without external control, Mu Ling spoke these words.
She turned and approached the prone Maryse, extending her hand with a gentle smile to help her up.
“If you hadn’t depleted half its power, defeating it would have proven quite challenging.”
Maryse paused briefly, then managed a faint smile while fighting back tears.
“Thank you.”
Mu Ling prepared to speak further, but suddenly furrowed her brow.
“You two performed admirably.”
The unexpected voice of a young man startled both girls.
Only then did they notice a youth with silver hair and white pupils had appeared beside them at some unknown moment.
His pure eyes held an authoritative gaze befitting one of superior station.
“This is the ‘Emperor’! Nightsaber, we cannot oppose him!”
Maryse exclaimed in shock, instantly recognizing their visitor.
The renowned “Emperor” was a distinguished figure among the imperial guards, an undeniably powerful presence known to many noble Air Alliance members.
Maryse’s body trembled uncontrollably as cold sweat poured down her skin.
This man could end her life in an instant!
Moreover, rumors spoke of the “Emperor’s” exceptional cruelty toward his enemies!
“You’re from the Babel Tower, correct?”
The “Emperor” Kessel’s tone differed entirely from his demeanor at the Demon Hunt Agency. His humility, gentleness, and youth had vanished, replaced by imperious arrogance.
The pure white youth raised his left hand, causing the solid ring on his finger to emit brilliant crimson light.
“Star, withdraw.”
Kessel commanded with absolute authority.
And the world obeyed.
The surroundings began to blur and shift rapidly. Mu Ling and Maryse exchanged bewildered glances. In the next instant, they and Kessel had materialized in an entirely different location.
The immense white hall spanned at least a thousand square meters. Light streamed through the translucent glass dome with blinding intensity. The chamber was filled with numerous individuals in black and white suits, their expressions grave.
“What is this place?”
Maryse stared in confusion, her heart sinking as she observed the hundreds of Night Watchers surrounding them.
They were completely encircled!
To their astonishment, they stood in the lobby of the Demon Hunt Agency’s ground floor.
Mu Ling merely held Kessel’s gaze, silent and showing no signs of aggression.
She placed her faith solely in the Savior.
Within the vast hall, several hundred Night Watchers stood ready, including Bai Yan and Alan.
In truth, Kessel had notified the Demon Hunt Agency ten minutes prior to prepare, announcing he would soon bring both Babel Tower members to the hall.
The startled Night Watchers had scrambled to make preparations, barely meeting the deadline.
“Execute the mission!” shouted Mr. Trap from among the Night Watchers.
Barriers and seals descended in waves! Hundreds of spells and various Relic powers converged! The two girls had no chance to retaliate!
“Hm?”
At the forefront, Kessel expressed mild surprise.
Suddenly, he heard a deep murmur filled with infinite sorrow.
The pure white youth frowned as he witnessed thick black mist rising from all directions, gradually enveloping the two girls. Every ability, spell, and Relic simply passed through them without effect.
It appeared that following the black mist’s emergence… the two had become isolated from the outside world.
