Chapter 92: Pure White Emperor (1)
“The piercing sadness accumulated like snow, causing my tears to flow endlessly. If I begin anew, I shall reclaim everything…”
The phone rang.
A somewhat fair hand stirred on the bed before finally grasping the black mobile device and answering it.
“Hello.”
“Sir, please consider our proposal carefully. Our financial products would be perfect for you. Keeping your money in the bank isn’t advisable these days.”
“No thank you.”
Bai Yan set the mobile down, opened his eyes, and sat up.
He stretched with a deep yawn, rose from the bed, and drew the curtains apart.
The warm sunlight streamed in, momentarily dazzling his eyes.
Bai Yan turned and headed to the bathroom, removed his clothes, and activated the shower, warm water flowing immediately.
The young man in the mirror was tall and lean with fair skin, subtle musculature, black hair, and distinctly handsome features.
His expression carried only a hint of detachment and languor.
After bathing, Bai Yan casually wrapped himself in a towel and settled onto the living room sofa.
Today was a day off, and he hadn’t attended school or work for nearly a month…
“Hmm, it’s a day off.”
Yet what purpose did a day off serve?
As the “boss” who “worked for himself,” he effectively operated year-round without breaks, though still considerably better than regular employees.
He instinctively retrieved his recently replaced phone and launched “Babel Tower.”
A fresh option had materialized in the familiar interface.
“Otherworld”
Incidentally, after experiencing the “Otherworld Tour” previously, the “Hero” status acquired by Nightsaber and Psychic Dancer hadn’t vanished…
Unfortunately, this status automatically disappeared upon exiting battle and needed to be accumulated again upon re-entry.
“Otherwise, they would be truly invincible… similar to Nasus the Curator of the Sands.”
His fair fingers extended to gently tap the new “Otherworld” option, unlocking it. The game interface swiftly transformed, revealing a scene reminiscent of a brilliant galaxy, intensely luminous.
Among the countless stars, one that should have been dim now glowed, radiating silver-white light.
Below it appeared a simple label:
“Civilization: Enos” (friendly, renowned)
“Civilization level index: 26.”
“Situated in the southern region of the Chien Continent, the nation maintains a feudal monarchy. Five hundred and thirty-one years ago, it was established by the immigrant settlement founded by Andochel’s ‘Great Navigator’ Gaed. Two centuries later, it was formally renamed Enos by ‘The Lion King’. Enos possesses superior alchemical technology and civilization concepts compared to other continental nations. The primary ethnic group comprises 82% humans, and their current ruler, the ‘Queen of Crystal’, has successfully dominated the Chien Continent, becoming ‘The High King’ over other subordinate nations.”
“After accounting for transmission loss through the cosmic barrier, 10 points of legend points can be provided to Babel Tower daily!”
Bai Yan contemplated deeply, as this development… truly astonished him.
Indeed…
“Otherworld” was entirely novel, something he had never encountered before!
Yes, though various parallel worlds frequently appeared within the first volume of “Babel Tower,” the “Otherworld” option was manifesting for the first time.
This also marked the first instance of a parallel world civilization providing legend points to Babel Tower.
He could finally confirm something.
Why had Babel Tower persistently displayed videos, undeterred by complications? Now Bai Yan understood that the legendary level triggered by “being known” through Babel Tower served as the source for obtaining Source Energy Points.
“Not bad, that aligns with my initial expectations of experiencing new content in the second playthrough, and now there is indeed new content.”
“Very good, things have become interesting.”
Bai Yan smiled. Whether regarding the new pool or the newly unlocked “Otherworld,” both seemed to assist in reducing the initial difficulty of “Babel Tower.”
So… would it truly unfold that way?
Would the main mission “Doomsday Crisis” of the second playthrough differ, or perhaps prove more challenging than the first?
At this point, Bai Yan could only speculate, lacking concrete knowledge of the specific circumstances.
He merely knew roughly two months remained.
Though today represented a divinely granted rest day, and every working person deserved proper rest, Bai Yan still intended to visit the Demon Hunt Agency.
Alan had prepared something “further” for him, and Bai Yan sought breakthrough to achieve the more practical “awakening” level as swiftly as possible.
Bai Yan donned a black suit, secured his tie, and adjusted his attire before the mirror.
“Wearing anything besides black and white suits at the Demon Hunt Agency constitutes a violation of regulations… I can only conclude that the upper echelon maintains rather strong personal preferences.”
“Incidentally, was the ‘business suit’ in Noah’s world also Philip’s invention? After all, the Air Alliance lacks concepts of ‘Western culture’ or ‘suits’.”
After brief contemplation, he departed.
He descended via elevator and hailed a taxi with a gesture, requesting transport to the Demon Hunt Agency’s location.
During the ride, finding himself unoccupied, he accessed Babel Tower and reviewed the Operator’s log.
“Core Operator Nightsaber’s log intelligence.”
“Upon morning awakening, I discovered my clothing and physique had returned. I sighed with relief, though feeling somewhat nostalgic.”
“Having committed to the new path, training for the noble cause of ‘saving everything’, morale +1, skills +1.”
“After extensive searching, the Black Star Faction’s cultists appear to have vanished.”
Bai Yan found particular interest in the final entry.
