Chapter 62: The Incompetence of the Demon Hunt Agency (2)
Streams of pale silver bullets erupted from the silver gun muzzle, transforming into vast golden screens of light upon contact with the ground; the shadow hounds instantly dissipated upon touching them. In mere moments, the bullets metamorphosed into galloping skeletal knights, wielding massive swords as they cleaved through the approaching hounds. With a thunderous explosion, the bullets shattered various dormant magical traps within the villa, causing sustained tremors.
Lin Bian’s gifted ability is known as “Death Ammo.”
A straightforward yet effective power that compresses untriggered spells into bullets beforehand, allowing them to take effect immediately upon release without preparation.
Most adversaries are torn asunder in the overwhelming “tidal wave” of spells!
After firing multiple shots, Lin Bian, without bothering to glance at the Black Wizard’s deceptions, loaded a bullet etched with golden patterns into his hand.
This was one of his carefully preserved reserves.
In Tatsumi city, none save for the exceptional individuals known as “Pastor” and “Queen of the Scarlet Moon” could possibly withstand this bullet.
“Has he already fled?”
Lin Bian, sensing no subsequent attacks, calmly closed his eyes and focused his awareness on his surroundings in the hall.
The presence had vanished.
He realized the cunning black wizard had merely used shadows to buy time while his actual form had already escaped beyond the villa’s confines.
This outcome was not unexpected.
He simply couldn’t determine which direction the black wizard had chosen for his escape.
Elite Night Watcher teams lie in ambush from all directions, and Weasley cannot depart directly through magical means.
Should any Night Watcher team detect the fleeing enemy, they will alert him, and then all that awaits the Black Wizard Lord will be the ambush team.
“Are there no fresh insights in the prophecy book? Then it seems this ‘hunting operation’ should succeed.”
At that moment, Lin Bian couldn’t help but recall something Alan had mentioned several days ago.
The prophecy book has been failing lately…
“I hope this doesn’t recur,” he muttered to himself.
——
Weasley adjusted his black suit with a simple gesture, donned a black felt hat, grasped a heavy black cane in his right hand, positioned his left hand behind his back, and strode through the study’s walls.
Behind the wall lay a dark, lightless underground tunnel, unknown to any, ancient and weathered.
He traversed the tunnel with exceptional composure, displaying not the slightest hint of anxiety.
This was not Weasley’s first encounter with the Demon Hunt Agency’s pursuit; he possessed ample experience and preparation.
This secret passage wasn’t excavated by him but had existed for many years.
The reason for selecting this location as his base was precisely due to this highly confidential tunnel’s existence.
Weasley’s investigation revealed that the tunnel’s builders were likely an ancient elven clan, possibly the ancestors of the Augustus family. They had worshipped a higher civilization known as the “Original People” in ancient times and established a flourishing magical civilization.
“Worshipping civilizations from other worlds as deities is quite absurd.”
The black wizard worshipped no deity but sought only the world’s truth, while Weasley harbored contempt for all forms of religious behavior in his heart’s depths.
Certainly, he would never dare show disrespect to the “Savior of Dark Light,” at least not overtly.
Most modern forms of magic would likely fail to detect this hidden passage’s existence, giving Weasley complete confidence in his escape route.
After some time, Weasley reached the secret passage’s terminus.
This was an almost uniform black wall, marked above with a special golden “All-Knowing Eye.”
He passed through the wall bearing the “All-Knowing Eye” painting and emerged onto a street far from the villa.
Rain poured down heavily, while Weasley maintained his tranquil countenance in the night’s darkness.
“Is this the Demon Hunt Agency’s hunt? I see nothing remarkable about it.”
The raindrops were automatically repelled by a spell, leaving his attire as dry and crisp as ever, matching Weasley’s current mood.
Weasley’s handsome features displayed a slight smile.
He mocked the Demon Hunt Agency’s incompetence for failing to position any Night Watchers here and allowed himself to relax completely.
However, the location was indeed quite distant from his base. It was understandable they couldn’t arrange personnel to cover it.
The Night Watchers are all elite members, and few can join their ranks. Ordinary people would become mere casualties before him.
“Were I in command, I would mobilize all the city’s ordinary police officers to surround the area for several kilometers, just to impede my progress… even knowing many would perish.”
Yet they cannot bring themselves to commit such an act destined to cause massive casualties and harm.
Although Night Watcher possesses considerable strength, the weakness called “justice” remains their failing, which Weasley comprehends deeply.
And he had been exploiting it consistently.
Suddenly, an peculiar voice echoed through the downpour.
“Cry out! Beg for mercy! Struggle! And then die!”
Weasley’s gaze wavered momentarily before he turned toward the sound’s source.
A man in a purple evening gown, wearing a white smiling mask, emerged from the rain nearby, with water droplets resembling tears streaming across his mask.
Weasley’s brow furrowed, initially with apprehension, but he soon relaxed.
“Just one person?”
Through his INT, he could detect that this person’s strength reached the “Mutation” level, but not the particularly troublesome kind.
Does he truly believe he can halt me alone? Who besides Lin Bian in the Demon Hunt Agency could accomplish that?
Alan approached slowly, and upon seeing the man standing before him, his heart faltered.
He realized his time was running short.
It’s over, it’s over. I was unexpectedly manipulated by the ‘Savior’ of Babel Tower at such a crucial moment, and came here alone to intercept ‘Dark-Eyed’.
Savior, are you mentally unsound?
This individual has committed numerous crimes, with an infamous reputation as the black wizardry’s master; I simply cannot defeat him!
Alan maintains clear self-awareness, knowing his capabilities and limitations. While he can handle warriors like Mu Ling, he would be thoroughly overwhelmed by a black wizard leader.
Brother Lin, please hurry to my aid!
Devise a solution with your invincible spells!
Alan initially found himself unable to move, his heart filled with indescribable bitterness. But in the next instant, he suddenly discovered he could move!
Should I flee?
He immediately conceived this practical notion.
“It appears you’re alone here. Hmm, I heard everything you just said… Do you wish me to cry, plead, struggle, and then perish?”
Alan parted his lips slightly, partially wanting to indicate he was merely passing by, that all of this was simply a scheme orchestrated by the Babel Tower!
Weasley’s gaze narrowed slightly as he again displayed a confident smile. He chuckled at his enemies’ carelessness and arrogance, having sent merely a weakling to attempt to prevent his escape.
“You possess remarkable courage.”
