Chapter 586: The Cheater’s Game
One point.
Maryse’s chess piece moved forward one step, landing on the second square.
Blank space.
The so-called “nothing happened.”
Maryse fell into deep thought, then shrugged and shook her head.
“Hmm, nothing happened. Well, maybe that’s not such a bad thing… I suppose!”
Her words carried some truth. Right nearby, on the third square, lay a trap square: “You have been attacked. Go back two squares.”
If Maryse had moved forward to the third square, her game piece would not only be sent back two spaces, but she would also experience a real-life attack.
The dice passed to Solitary, the third player.
Without hesitation, Solitary tossed the dice. It landed on 3, moving his chess piece three spaces forward.
Another blank square. Nothing happened.
Solitary’s expression remained unreadable. His stoic face betrayed no emotion.
The last player to roll was Amy’s humanoid mechanical body.
Amy fell into a deep calculation, her mechanical mind racing. A robotic arm extended from her abdomen, gripping the dice.
Amy didn’t rely on luck. She calculated the dice’s weight, the airflow, gravitational forces, the throw’s angle, and more.
Her calculations were flawless. If physics held, the dice would show 6.
The dice tumbled across the board, its movements captivating everyone.
Finally, it stopped.
Maryse froze in surprise. Solitary closed his eyes, and Pride erupted into laughter.
“HAHAHA! It seems you’re the first to taste the power of this game!”
The dice showed 2.
Amy’s chess piece advanced two spaces, landing directly on a trap square:
“You have been attacked. Move back two spaces.”
“Hello, hello, isn’t this a bit worrisome?” Maryse muttered anxiously, glancing at Amy.
Amy, unflinching, nodded.
“So it’s confirmed…” she murmured. “Even with flawless calculations, the dice roll was unaffected by logic or science. A divine power is interfering with the result. The outcome is entirely up to luck.”
Maryse paled.
“Luck? You mean we can’t control it at all?”
Amy nodded again. The dice, crafted with divine power, was impervious to manipulation by either supernatural abilities or scientific calculations.
This begged a philosophical question:
Was the dice’s result genuine luck, or the artificial fate of the God of Games?
Suddenly, Amy vanished.
“Hey! Where did she go?!” Maryse’s alarmed voice echoed in the room.
Pride chuckled, shaking its massive head. “Unfortunately, I won’t get to see the fun.”
Solitary, as usual, remained silent.
Amy, however, found herself transported to another world.
This world was unfamiliar.
The skies were filled with sci-fi fighter jets engaged in battle against colossal magical creatures. Millions of troops clashed, their combat fierce and relentless.
Explosions ripped through the air. Thousands perished within moments.
Amy observed the chaos calmly, her mechanical body ready for combat. Her true soul had been forcefully pulled back from the network into this vulnerable form. If her body was destroyed here, her existence would truly end.
A gigantic fire dragon descended from the sky.
“ROAR!”
The beast unleashed a devastating wave of flames, but Amy’s shield materialized instantly, blocking the attack effortlessly.
Amy’s current combat power far surpassed any ordinary Apocalyptic being. The technological advancements of the Omnic race she created were at her disposal, making her a living embodiment of a high-tech civilization.
Fourteen grueling days passed in this world. The magical civilization launched relentless attacks, but their heavy casualties far outweighed the mechanical civilization’s losses.
Amy emerged victorious, surviving the ordeal.
Back in the game room, Amy reappeared. Though only a moment had passed in real time, she had endured over two weeks in the mysterious battlefield.
Pride rolled the dice next. It showed 5.
Its chess piece landed within a dense bush. The rules required Pride to roll again, facing one of six possible outcomes:
Encounter an attack.
Move back one space.
Move forward one space.
Gain 20 karma points.
Obtain 10 coins.
Acquire a treasure.
Pride rolled the dice again: 5.
10 coins.
“Hahaha! It seems luck is on my side,” Pride gloated.
Amy and Maryse exchanged knowing glances.
The Savior’s voice reached them, offering an explanation. He revealed that only fragments of his soul remained, allowing limited influence in this critical moment.
Maryse suddenly laughed. Her lips curled into a triumphant smirk.
“You can take the lead if you want… Because we’ve already won!”
Her confidence stemmed from their secret weapon.
While divine power prevented interference with the dice, there existed relics of ruin—artifacts of immense power capable of bending even the will of the God of Games.
However, Solitary also possessed such a relic.
The game was no longer about skill or luck.
It was time for them to cheat together.
