The voice on the other end was her familiar “Mother,” while the virtual world around her seemed to collapse slowly.
“Mom…”
She choked, struggling to find her words.
“Kexin, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Mom’s here, weren’t you supposed to visit a classmate tonight?”
“Mother” was highly perceptive and sensed something was wrong, her voice filled with concern.
“Ke Xin? Where are you?”
Nian gently shook her head, took a deep breath, and said, “It’s nothing, Mom. I just… miss you and Dad a bit.”
