Chapter 556: The New Babel Tower Conference
The New Babel Tower conference, unexpectedly, did not commence within the Babel Tower itself.
Since the incident involving Bai Yan and Mu Ling, no one had the authority to utilize the Babel Tower. The massive structure remained quietly suspended in the void above Noah’s Tatsumi City, patiently waiting for its destined moment to arrive.
Meanwhile, within the dark tower at the heart of Tatsumi City, countless Night Watchers moved with purpose.
Messengers scurried through its halls, delivering documents and exchanging vital intelligence. They worked tirelessly to handle the city’s affairs, safeguard its peace, and monitor the growing threats surrounding Noah. Above all, their most crucial task was to report to the master of the dark tower—Alan.
Inside the Intelligence Department
“Tatsumi City has become a gathering place for legends,” declared Hai Yu, the stern supervisor of the Night Watcher Intelligence Department.
His normally composed demeanor cracked, surprising his subordinates. As someone who had seen much, Hai Yu’s reaction was anything but ordinary.
“Recently, two renowned princesses have arrived—Princess Hidden Azure and the Innocent Singer,” he continued. “Add to that Nian, the former leader of the Giant Hive rebels, and Aurora, the knight king from another world… Each one of them is a figure of legend!”
The room buzzed with murmurs.
“On top of that,” Hai Yu added, “the Queen of Hearts and our leader are also present. Who knows who else might join? After so many years, the Babel Tower’s strongest will finally reunite!”
The Night Watchers’ Reverence
Every Night Watcher held a deep respect for the Babel Tower. To the younger members, it was a fabled institution that shaped their world. To the veterans, it was a force they had witnessed protect their home time and again.
The air was electric with speculation.
“Is this the start of a major crisis?” one whispered.
“Maybe they found a way to banish the Spawns once and for all!”
“Perhaps the Savior left behind a secret, only just uncovered.”
For these Watchers, the Babel Tower was synonymous with hope. The stories of its Saints and their sacrifices carried them through the darkest times.
Nian’s Arrival
Among the arrivals was Nian, once the mute girl Elene. She had matured into a graceful woman, her long, straight black hair reminiscent of the Almighty. Yet, years of hardship had left her slight and frail.
Walking through the dark tower, Nian sensed the admiring and curious gazes of onlookers. Though she had grown used to such attention, her thoughts were elsewhere.
Why has Alan called us together? What is the purpose of this meeting?
Her mind drifted to the past.
The loss of dear friends weighed heavily on her. Red Moon, her close companion, had fallen in battle five years ago. Others had vanished or succumbed to time, leaving the remnants of Babel Tower to fend for themselves.
Aurora’s Transformation
As Nian reached the top floor, she encountered a striking figure—a blond knight with an aura of authority.
It was Aurora, now the Knight Queen of Zeuo, whose commanding presence demanded reverence.
“Long time no see,” Aurora said, her voice steady and regal.
Ripples formed in the air as Nian replied silently, “It’s been too long. You’ve changed a lot.”
Aurora nodded. “Time changes everything. The flow between worlds makes it even more so.”
Years passed differently on the Continent of Zeuo, and for Aurora, decades had gone by. Her transformation was profound, yet she carried the same steadfast resolve.
Together, they entered a red reception room where the others were waiting.
The Assembly
Alan, dressed in his black Night Watcher uniform, sat with a serious expression. He stood as the door opened.
“Welcome, my dear friends.”
The room was filled with familiar faces:
Maryse stood silently in a corner, her thoughts hidden.
Kaluoer and Evie, dressed in elegant gowns, whispered by the window.
Nino and Inas watched quietly.
Amy’s mechanical clone floated in the air, buzzing softly.
The group exchanged glances, their anticipation palpable.
Merete Chambers’ Entrance
Just as Alan began to speak, a soft, melodic voice interrupted him.
“Wait a moment!”
The room turned toward the source of the voice.
A black-dressed figure appeared—a woman with skin pale as moonlight and a presence that commanded awe.
It was Merete Chambers.
The witch smiled serenely, her strength radiating through the room. Her nearly godlike power was both mesmerizing and intimidating.
“How could you forget me?” she said, her tone playful yet piercing.
With a wave of her hand, she conjured a black book. A single page flew from its binding, landing on the floor and glowing with silver light.
In an instant, the room transformed.
The walls faded into a vast meadow filled with vibrant flowers, where a gentle breeze danced through the air. A long wooden table appeared, laden with tea and sweets, and a small white dog bounded into Merete’s arms.
The witch’s smile widened as she addressed the astonished group.
“Now,” she said with a mischievous glint in her eye, “let the Babel Tower meeting officially begin.”
