Chapter 555: The Descendants
“The time has come.”
Tatsumi City—
In this troubled independent city, the people would gather for a sincere prayer every ten days.
As the sound of the bell rang out, the residents began to stand in their homes. Eyes closed, they whispered softly, offering prayers of praise to the Savior of Babel Tower.
One day, He will return, they prayed, and bring an end to this dreadful era.
At this moment, millions of people were praying together. Their devout hearts gave birth to a pure, mysterious power originating from the spirit particles—a power of faith.
This energy gathered, flowing into the Babel Tower in the void, accumulating over time.
Not only Tatsumi City but cities across the Noah World and even other civilizations contributed their faith, all converging upon the Babel Tower.
It had long been waiting, accumulating, and biding its time for someone’s return.
Inas stepped into the city.
“This is Tatsumi City. It’s so different. Just as I thought, it’s nothing like our world.”
She wore a beautiful black dress and stood amidst the crowd, her emotions a blend of curiosity and awe.
On the pedestrian streets, under shimmering lights, the people moved with purpose. Despite the night sky above, it was morning in Tatsumi City, and the citizens carried on with their lives.
After finishing their prayers, they returned to work without hesitation.
Inas observed the bustling streets with a puzzled look.
“Mom, aren’t they afraid? Why do they dare to move around so openly? They don’t hide or pretend.”
Her mother, Kaluoer, remained calm and expressionless as she answered, “Tatsumi City has never truly fallen. Over the years, it has remained as it once was.”
She continued, “This is because many strong individuals from Babel Tower chose to settle here. With the powerful barrier personally created by Mu Ling, Tatsumi City became a focal point of peace, untouched by chaos.”
Inas fell silent, contemplating her mother’s words as they strolled through the lively streets.
She saw something here that she had never seen among her people:
Ease.
The residents lived busy but content lives. Some appeared anxious, others lazy, but none seemed to fear their next meal or constant danger.
For Inas, it was unimaginable.
“Let’s go,” Kaluoer said, taking her daughter’s hand. “I’ll show you some places.”
They entered the largest clothing store in the city. Immediately, they felt the joyous energy of the surroundings.
Shopping!
The mother-daughter duo was excited, though Kaluoer hid it well while Inas showed her enthusiasm clearly.
Unfortunately, they were missing someone to carry their bags.
“Why didn’t we wait for Aunt Evie to come with us? Why just the two of us?” Inas asked, slipping into a gothic dress and looking at her reflection in the mirror.
Kaluoer, now in a black evening gown with a white necklace, looked more like Inas’ sister than her mother.
“She went to another city to pick up your brother,” Kaluoer replied. “She’ll join us soon. There was no need to wait.”
“Oh, so you’re Kaluoer’s daughter?”
A soft, mysterious voice interrupted their moment.
Startled, Inas turned sharply, her alert gaze searching for the source. The voice belonged to a stunning half-elf woman with golden hair and blue eyes.
She radiated elegance, though her weary expression hinted at a heavy burden.
The half-elf gazed at Inas intently, as though searching for something familiar in her face.
“Maryse,” Kaluoer said, her voice calm.
Clearly, the two women knew each other.
Maryse stepped closer, her bright eyes narrowing with curiosity. “Dark Light? Are you the reincarnation of that divine being?”
Inas furrowed her brow and
stepped back.
“I am Inas,” she declared firmly.
“Not someone’s reincarnation.
I have merely inherited that
power. I am myself, no one
else.”
Meanwhile, at a fried chicken
restaurant in Tatsumi City, a
young man with icy blue hair
sat by the window.
This was Nino, Inas’ brother.
He exuded calm authority, his
casual white attire
emphasizing his quiet
confidence. Across from him
sat Evie, her long hair
cascading over her shoulders.
“Nino, this is Tatsumi City,” Evie
said between bites of fried
chicken. “It’s nice, isn’t it?
Seeing the past come alive
here… It brings back
memories.”
Nino gazed silently out the
window, his face emotionless.
He had always been quiet,
melancholic, and introspective.
Evie glanced at him, recalling
his personality over the years.
Like Kaluoer, Nino hid his
thoughts behind a stoic
facade.
But his calm exterior couldn’t hide one truth.
“The Babel Tower
conference…” Nino murmured
to himself.
A faint smile played on his lips.
“I can’t wait.”
