Chapter 547: The Birthday Celebration
Mu Ling’s face betrayed no emotion. She moved through the darkness like a divine punisher, the night scattering around her. Behind her, half of the world transformed into an endless night sky, contrasting sharply with the daylight ahead where Elene stood.
Mu Ling swung the Burning Steel in her hands.
“Burn it up!”
In an instant, an enormous monster was consumed by an endless sea of white flames.
Within mere seconds, the flames annihilated it, reducing the creature to nothing but ashes. A monstrosity capable of devouring half of civilization, labeled a super-monster across the multiverse, was destroyed in a single, casual strike.
It crumbled and collapsed, utterly obliterated.
The elves watched in disbelief.
A miracle from heaven!
“We were rescued!”
Realizing their salvation, the elves erupted into cheers and worship. Gratitude and confusion filled their hearts as the words “Babel Tower” and “Savior” echoed through their minds. These words, destined to become legends, would be passed down for generations.
“It was the Savior who saved us!”
The elves exchanged astonished glances.
High above, Mu Ling looked down upon the scene calmly. She muttered, “Ever since the crisis ended a few months ago, I’ve been saving a new world nearly every day. Even now, it feels somewhat unbelievable.”
Bai Yan smiled knowingly. He could not simply blame the task distribution of the Babel Tower.
Mu Ling still believed herself to be the “Savior” assigned to every mission.
Deep down, Bai Yan knew the truth: Mu Ling’s power was unparalleled, and the missions assigned to her were truly extraordinary.
“I’m not complaining. In fact, I’m grateful. It gives me the opportunity to save these worlds,” Mu Ling said sincerely, a smile softening her face.
Bai Yan nodded gently.
“We need to go back now,” he said.
Black mist rose around them. Without another word, Mu Ling and Bai Yan disappeared, leaving the world they had just saved. They had to return to Tatsumi City in Noah to celebrate Maryse’s birthday.
As they vanished, the spirits of that world continued to worship and revere the Babel Tower and the Savior. Over millennia, their faith dwindled, the last temple crumbled, and belief in the Savior faded. Yet, the accumulated faith transformed into the Source Energy Points that fueled the Babel Tower.
Noah’s World. Tatsumi City.
Maryse had moved her home back to the city.
Though she once adored the excitement of the Giant Hive, the allure had faded with time. Now, she felt more at peace in the old villa.
Today, Maryse, dressed in a white evening gown, sat in the dining room, occupying the seat of honor. Behind her stood Irena, her poised head maid, and rows of attentive servants lined either side.
This scene resembled the past, but the scorn and disdain of the servants had been replaced with awe and respect.
The Augustus family knew that Maryse had been chosen as the Savior—a mighty demigod of the Babel Tower. In the face of absolute power, mortals needed no instruction to tremble in reverence.
At some point, Bai Yan and Mu Ling appeared, seated on either side of Maryse. The servants, recognizing the white-haired young girl as the Goddess of the Night, trembled in fear.
“Oh my goodness, a real god has come to our house!”
Maryse raised her hand to calm everyone, using her magic to restore order. Then, she turned to Bai Yan and Mu Ling with a playful smirk.
“Hehehe, you finally arrived. Where have you two been goofing around?”
Bai Yan replied casually, “We were just saving another world.”
Mu Ling nodded in agreement.
“Indeed,” she added softly.
Maryse squinted at them, her playful tone laced with suspicion.
“Ah, someone gets to save the world and spend time with their favorite people… Who knows how many more incarnations you’ve sent off to charm other girls?”
Bai Yan remained silent, evading her pointed remark.
The birthday cake on the table,
a fragrant mango-flavored
creation, awaited them. Yet,
there were no candles or
numbers. Clearly, Maryse
wished to avoid drawing
attention to her approaching
thirtieth birthday.
Bai Yan, ever the opportunist,
quipped, “Let’s celebrate
turning thirty soon! After all,
you’re already twenty-nine—”
“Roll away! Don’t talk about
that number!” Maryse
snapped, her face twisting in
mock fury.
Mu Ling, amused, interjected,
“Speaking of which, I’m about
to turn nineteen. If you round it
up, I’ll soon be twenty.”
“Twenty? That’s nothing!”
Maryse huffed, her expression
sour.
Bai Yan breathed a sigh of
relief, glad the conversation
had shifted.
Maryse clapped her hands,
revealing a spread of exotic
dishes. Fish shimmering with
ethereal light, black-and-white
turtles, one-eyed rabbits, and
more adorned the table. Each
dish exuded a faint mystical
power.
“These are delicacies I’ve
collected from across the
worlds. Ever since Mu Ling
shattered the Fantasy Sea,
Noah’s world has experienced
peace and prosperity. Mu Ling,
you’ve truly unified this
civilization.”
Mu Ling responded humbly,
“You’re older than me, so you
should call me little sister.”
“Can’t we just talk about the
food? If you can’t speak, stay
silent!” Maryse snapped,
clearly unimpressed.
Amid the teasing and banter,
Maryse clapped again,
changing the subject abruptly.
“Enough! Let’s get to the main
event—what gifts have you all
prepared for me?”
Bai Yan smiled mysteriously,
keeping his silence.
For now, this fleeting moment
was enough. He wanted to
treasure it.
Even as time marched on, the
memory of this day would
remain, glowing brightly in his
heart.
