Chapter 536: The Real Monster
Two black mud monsters were rapidly merging.
They were the souls transformed from the Ruler and Executioner brothers. Because their bloodlines were connected, the fusion ability of these monsters was incredibly strong.
“Awooooo!”
A massive, even more imposing creature emerged.
Its form began to shift, no longer a mere puddle of mud. It morphed into something lizard-like, with the initially soft, squishy black mud gradually solidifying, becoming sturdy and hardened.
“Roar!”
“Roarrr!”
With an earth-shattering roar, the creature unleashed a terrifying force, instantly tearing apart the streets and shattering the ground beneath it.
Red Moon, who had been standing nearby, felt the impact. Her body was immediately marked with numerous bloodstains, and her vision was overtaken by the crimson flow of fresh blood.
Her body wasn’t particularly strong, and her defense was lacking in resilience.
“There is a smell of blood…”
Red Moon didn’t dislike the scent. In fact, she found it exhilarating. The wounds, the pain, they fueled her.
The battle had only just begun.
“Your recent attack only gave me more power, leading to your… own demise.”
The giant black lizard lifted its head high and spewed a torrent of black mud into the air. In an instant, the mud transformed into small monsters that howled and charged towards Red Moon from all directions.
Despite the protection of Babel Tower, Red Moon knew that if she was touched by the black mud—even for a moment—she would be transformed into something unrecognizable.
The monsters, seemingly intelligent, widened their attack range, cornering her.
But Red Moon didn’t hesitate.
She took a deep breath, drew her Nightsaber, and swung it.
Slash!
In an instant, countless black shadows rose from the ground, resembling sharp blades. They tore through the bodies of all the monsters around her in a single, sweeping motion.
“Whoosh.”
Darkness spread like wildfire.
Every monster around her fragmented, falling apart. The surge of power from the dark Nightsaber caused waves of destruction through the city, toppling everything in its path.
Even the towering black lizard, hundreds of meters tall, ceased its roar as its massive body crumbled into thousands of pieces.
“The power is truly immense… But controlling this weapon is another matter entirely.”
Red Moon’s body trembled, especially her arms. The Nightsaber felt almost uncontrollable. Wisps of white smoke spiraled from her hands, signaling her struggle to contain its overwhelming power.
Judgement stood in shock, dumbfounded.
“Amazing!”
The previous strike was incredibly powerful. It rivaled the strength of an Apocalypse. No, it might have even surpassed that!
This girl—she was unbelievably powerful!
Even though she wasn’t technically an Apocalypse, her attack had the devastating power of one.
Judgement could feel that this black blade wasn’t even Red Moon’s strongest weapon.
“That shiny black handle, silver-blade dagger… That must be the strongest…”
His gaze fixated on the dagger. A strange urge to bow his head overtook him.
He dared not look directly at it.
Above it, a mysterious allure emanated, beckoning him to surrender.
Unknowingly, Judgement was feeling something deeper. He didn’t fully understand the Blade of Heart, but its presence overwhelmed him.
It was connected to a higher power.
Judgement reflected on the fate of his younger brothers. They had been freed and taken to another dimension. Perhaps they were even finding peace in a quieter world.
“…”
Tears welled up in his eyes, and his heart felt a strange relief. Thankfully, they hadn’t been completely consumed.
Red Moon stood still, breathing deeply as she surveyed the broken pieces of black mud scattered across the ground. Slowly, they began to fade into nothingness.
“It’s over.”
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, white slime. It was one of many babies born from Fusion Slime R21, a creature capable of communication. As long as the other party carried a slime, they could communicate.
“Miss Amy, this is the Red Moon. I have finished cleaning up the current area. Respected Savior, can you hear me? Please teleport me to the next location now, quickly.”
She blushed and added, “I haven’t had enough yet!”
“Good job, Red Moon,” came Amy’s voice from inside the slime.
Though the entire operation was coordinated by the Respected Savior, Miss Amy was the secondary commander for this mission. Everyone understood her capabilities and her nurturing, almost maternal responsibility.
“Wait!”
Judgement’s voice rang out, urgent.
“Hmm?”
Red Moon turned, her brow furrowed as she looked at him. His eyes conveyed a chaotic mix of emotions—unbelief, confusion, regret, pain, sadness, gratitude, joy, anticipation, and hope…
Can one person truly feel so much at once?
“Are you a person of Babel Tower?” Judgement asked.
“Um, yeah,” Red Moon paused, nodding.
“It’s really a Babel Tower person… it’s a Babel Tower, hahaha, it’s actually a Babel Tower…”
Judgement laughed nervously, lost in a trance.
He had once pursued the members of Babel Tower, seeking to destroy them because of the Savior’s prophecy. Over time, he had realized the futility of his cause. Now, both his younger brothers were dead, their souls saved by the very people he had once sought to destroy.
Judgement couldn’t comprehend the situation anymore.
At that moment, Red Moon paused.
A pitch-black shadow flashed before her.
In the blink of an eye, an arm pierced through Red Moon’s abdomen.
“Oops!”
Fresh blood poured from her wound as she coughed up blood. Her body trembled. She hadn’t been able to react in time.
Even though she was grievously injured, Red Moon didn’t feel fear. Instead, her unwavering gaze remained fixed on the enemy before her.
There stood an old man with white hair.
His body was covered in black lines, but his skin, despite being unmarred, radiated a peculiar, vibrant aura—like a living corpse.
But his eyes… those hollow, ethereal eyes were the most striking feature. They resembled black holes, filled with endless despair and anguish.
“He died,” the old man said in a flat tone. “Death.”
He was no longer the Head of Dark Night. Instead, he had transformed into something new, born from the soul of the Head of Dark Night.
But his soul was powerful enough to reach the Plane of Creation, and this new creature was more powerful than his original form.
“Ugh!”
Red Moon felt her body being overtaken by the power of the transformation. Her soul was beginning to be reshaped, and she knew that if it continued, even the Babel Tower’s resurrection ability couldn’t save her.
But the transformation process took time. There was still a chance.
Yet, she couldn’t interrupt it…
“Whoosh!”
Suddenly, from behind Red Moon, one of the Blades of Heart flew out on its own, severing the arm of the Head of Dark Night.
“It is…”
Both Red Moon and Judgement were stunned, as was the old man-turned-monster.
A black handle, with a silver-white blade.
The weapon floated in mid-air.
It was the Blade of Heart, drawn from Senior Profligate’s heart!
Red Moon had never fully understood its power, and now she was stunned. She had wielded many Blades of Heart, but this was the first time one had attacked on its own.
The Blade of Heart from Senior Profligate seemed extraordinary.
Red Moon immediately reached for two more Blades of Heart—one with golden edges, belonging to Miss Maryse, and another thick, deep blue greatsword from the Slime’s heart.
But despite her efforts, she couldn’t harm the creature.
The difference in power was just too great. The monster before her was too strong—far beyond what she could handle.
“Is this… ascending to the upper-ranked Apocalypse? Or has it already approached the realm of a quasi-god?” Red Moon murmured to herself.
At that moment, the old man appeared behind her.
He reached out his hand, intent on destroying her.
If he hadn’t paused to complete his transformation, Red Moon would have been killed in an instant.
“Boom!”
A scarlet impact descended from above, like a divine hammer, delivering swift retribution.
Red Moon was sent flying by the immense force, causing the entire street to break apart beneath her. Judgement, too, was thrown by the shockwave.
Though violent, this blow saved Red Moon from death.
“Red Moon, you’ve done a great job already. Now, finish clearing the rest of the areas.”
A woman, with a name nearly identical to Red Moon’s but with a completely different demeanor, hovered above. She looked down at the old man below, her gaze commanding and unwavering.
Just moments ago, she had descended from the sky, delivering a powerful strike that reduced the nearby streets to rubble.
The Queen of the Scarlet Moon.
