Chapter 535: Dead Insane!
The Kingdom of Dark Light.
Annottales.
“What is this thing?”
Judgement swayed his body, unable to resist as he knelt on one knee, gasping for breath.
Her golden hair was stained with fresh blood.
His situation was dire.
As one of the chosen saints appointed by the Savior of Dark Light, a renowned warrior with a recognized name in this kingdom, Judgement had been specifically entrusted with maintaining law and order in Annottales. Yet, now he found himself facing an incredibly challenging foe.
It was a dark and murky substance, resembling soil but entirely different, as if devoid of consciousness, only knowing to relentlessly devour everything in its surroundings.
Judgement kept attempting to attack, but each effort seemed futile. The effects of his strikes were always insufficiently noticeable.
Even though attacking wasn’t his strongest suit, as a powerful being at the Crown level, Judgement rarely found himself in such a sorry state.
This thing appeared out of nowhere, only minutes ago. In an instant, it began devouring living beings and lifeless objects, growing larger and larger, seemingly insatiable.
The dark mud creature emitted immense negative emotions, the kind of fear and despair that cursed everything in its wake. It was as though the very soul was on the verge of sinking.
If Judgement hadn’t been equipped with a Civilization-level Relic capable of resisting negative emotions, he would have likely been corrupted by it.
“What in the world is this thing?”
He was chased all the way from his home to the streets of Annottales, only to find that there were more than one of these terrifying black mud creatures.
The streets were ablaze, houses were collapsing, and Judgement could barely hear the cries for help, wails of despair, and screams echoing around him.
Annottales.
The kingdom sheltered by Dark Light.
The city closest to the mighty gods.
Now, it faced a terrifying crisis.
What frightened Judgement most was witnessing several passersby screaming in horror, only to instantly transform into new creatures.
Infection.
“What a powerful contagion! What kind of force is this? Who is responsible?”
Judgement could sense that the key to the transformation lay in the dreadful negative emotions.
“Awooooooo!”
A massive black mud ball shattered several buildings as it rushed toward Judgement, halting its advance just before him.
“Ouch!”
Judgement, towering hundreds of meters in size, looked down at the ground and let out continuous roars of anger and sorrow.
“This… this creature, from the very beginning, chased after me, and now it’s the biggest black mud monster I’ve ever seen!”
Judgement furrowed his brow and reached out his hand, preparing to attack once more. But just then, he was stopped.
“Big brother, please stop for now!”
He turned in surprise, his younger brother—the Executioner—was standing nearby.
Judgement, Ruler, and Executioner. The three of them had been dedicated saints responsible for safeguarding the peace of Annottales. For decades, they had been inseparable, living, eating, and fighting together.
Before becoming saints, the three had been common beggars. Judgement had always protected his two younger brothers, ensuring they had enough food.
“Where is Ruler?” Judgement asked immediately.
The Executioner stared blankly for a moment, his eyes vacant, not answering.
In that inexplicable silence, Judgement felt a faint chill run down his spine. What was happening?
The Executioner looked up at the enormous creature, murmuring, “Big brother, that is the Ruler. I can feel him. He’s right there. You should know too.”
“What did you say?” Judgement froze, disbelief written on his face.
This was impossible!
Suddenly, the Executioner hesitated before a smile spread across his face. He seemed to have seen something delightful, and his expression was filled with happiness.
“It’s Him calling us, big brother. Don’t resist… I heard it! It’s His voice!”
In the next moment, a stream of black mud erupted from the Executioner’s body. He, too, began undergoing a transformation.
“Oh noooo!”
Judgement roared in anger, but could do nothing but watch as everything unfolded.
In that instant, he froze. He had sensed the Ruler’s transformation, but had forced himself to forget that part of his memory…
So that’s how it was.
Then Judgement heard the voice.
[Don’t resist]
[Join us, become an extension of our will]
[O loyal subjects of Dark Light, don’t resist]
It was the voice of the Savior of Dark Light.
Judgement’s eyes widened.
Oh, I see! Oh, I see! Oh, I see…
The third brother had heard His voice.
“It is the will of the Savior,” Judgement realized, his voice filled with sorrow. “So that’s how it is. It was He who decided to let this kingdom perish!”
Judgement stood motionless, and then a bitter laugh escaped his lips.
“Hahaha…”
For the truly innocent, never doubt the commands provided by Him.
Judgement had always believed that the Savior of Dark Light was his absolute faith. He was willing to sacrifice his life for Him.
But now, at this moment, that faith was crumbling.
He took out a platinum pocket watch, its three star-shaped pointers spinning rapidly. With each rotation, Judgement had to pay the price of one day of his life.
This was Judgement’s Civilization-level Relic, used to combat negative emotions and curses.
He had never before seen such a powerful reaction from the watch.
Without it, he would have been alienated by now.
As long as it was discarded…
They could step into that world.
Judgement took a deep breath, gripping the golden pocket watch tightly as he reached forward.
“I am here…”
A beam of red light zoomed past!
One, two, three… All the black monsters on the street were sliced in half by the red light.
The smaller monsters instantly crumbled and dissolved, their souls freed. However, the two largest mud monsters—transformed from saints—continued to merge, trying to resurrect.
Dead Insane Warrior, Red Moon!
“Hahahaha!”
She wore a terrifying demon-like mask, letting out a delighted laugh as she swung a crimson-colored enchanted sword, continuously attacking the massive black muddy monster.
One after another, the flashes of her sword swept past, causing the two enormous clusters of black mud to shatter completely. They were sliced into hundreds of pieces.
“Miss Scarlet Moon’s sword is really useful, huh!”
Red Moon’s eyes were crimson. Her emotions were more restless than usual, and she seemed wilder than ever.
Her speed and strength had reached new heights.
Her body transformed into a red phantom, darting across the ground faster with each passing moment. It was as if she were teleporting!
The black monsters desperately tried to strike her with their tentacles, but none could lay a finger on her.
The blade she wielded had been drawn from the chest of the Queen of the Scarlet Moon.
On the slightly short blade, blood-red flames burned, emanating fiery and domineering oppressive power.
Judgement stood frozen, unable to look away from the scene.
“The girl… she has five special knives tied to her back, each with a different terrifying aura.”
Even with time running out, Red Moon swiftly pulled out five knives belonging to her companions.
They were from the Scarlet Moon, Mu Ling, Maryse, the Slime, and Mr. Profligate.
Red Moon still longed to pull out the Keeper of Secrets’ Blade of Heart, but the other had told her there was no time left.
Of course, she didn’t know the true reason for the refusal… Only one Blade of Heart could be extracted from a soul.
If Bai Yan let Red Moon touch his chest, the secret would be revealed.
The Blade of Heart from the Scarlet Moon was called “Blood World.”
It could continuously bestow the user with energy, strength, and speed, while draining the life force of enemies.
The only downside was that it made the user increasingly agitated, eventually turning them into an uncontrollable raging beast.
“Awooooo!”
The dark mud creature continued launching attacks, but Red Moon shimmered and shifted, her breathing growing heavier.
“Ah! What a pity. It seems almost at its limit. I can’t continue using this anymore.”
Red Moon laughed maniacally, then threw the “Blood World” aside, grabbing a new knife from her back.
This was a pitch-black knife, faintly glowing with starlight, possessing a mysterious and enchanting beauty.
“And then, this is Miss Mu Ling’s… its name is… ‘Nightsaber.'”
