Chapter 510: The Night Watcher Austin
“Boom!”
The ancient sword, battered and on the brink of collapse, struggled to fend off the relentless assaults from the Ruin-level Relic.
Each time a spatial rift tore through the sky, vast ripples spread, causing the ancient yellow sword to vibrate violently, like a powerful explosion.
Austin took a deep breath. He had finally recovered and could unleash another powerful burst of energy, but it was clear that the ancient yellow sword was on its last legs, with only one final chance remaining.
“The power of the Ruin-level Relic is incredibly strong…”
But what exactly is a Ruin-level Relic?
People speculated that they could be a part of the Outer Gods, existing in another form. These mighty relics carried undeniable and absolute power. Those with extraordinary abilities who wield a Ruin-level Relic can only harness a fraction of its strength, yet it remains formidable enough to make even the bravest tremble.
Austin furrowed his brow as the first burst of swordlight erupted. Yet, it failed to inflict any significant harm on Silence, as her Ruin-level Relic easily blocked the attack with its formidable defense.
If they acted hastily now, it would only end in failure.
“That Ruin-level Relic is too tricky to handle,” Austin muttered, his voice tinged with worry.
He fell into deep thought. There was only one way left – to launch a counterattack while remaining silent, even if it meant risking everything, even his life, with no complete defense.
“It doesn’t matter if I die, but Babel Tower must win this battle,” he whispered with determination.
This could very well be the final chance for the people of Noah.
But Austin, ever the experienced Night Watcher, knew better than to rush in unprepared. He patiently waited for the right moment before releasing a purple sphere – a Civilization-level Relic used for defense. Then, he prepared for a do-or-die strike, ready to give everything for the attack.
The purple sphere spun and expanded, forming a transparent lampshade that enveloped Austin’s elderly form in the sky.
However, the cost was steep. His left eye lost its vision, and the ancient sword emitted a mournful wail as cracks continued to multiply across its surface.
The opportunity was close.
Silence’s battle rhythm was unnervingly steady. The space-tearing attacks were effective, and she continued to launch them without any intention of changing tactics.
When another crack appeared in space, Austin had already been gathering his strength once again. His extraordinary power was nothing special—merely the ability to gather and release his own energy. But any ordinary power, when it reached the level of Apocalypse, became immensely powerful.
“Bzz!”
The sword surged forward, and the dragon roared.
The ancient yellow sword unleashed a storm of golden dragon-shaped blades, instantly engulfing everything in all directions. The attack tore through space, clashing violently with Austin’s defenses.
The storm, however, was effortless in tearing apart his protective shield, and a red radiance pierced through, leaving Austin heavily injured.
“Oops!”
Austin’s insides churned, but to his surprise, his wounds began healing at a visible speed. Despite being gravely injured, Austin did not die. He simply watched as the storm, now split into two, showed no signs of slowing down.
Silence, a slender figure, was soon engulfed by the storm, her gray aura fending off layers of sword light. But eventually, it was broken through.
Had she fallen?
Austin’s eyes widened, trembling with exertion. He struggled to maintain a grip on the ancient yellow sword, hoping that his attack had been enough to vanquish his opponent.
When the sword storm finally subsided, Silence had vanished, leaving no trace behind. It seemed as if the storm had reduced her to dust.
Austin’s inspiration surged wildly!
“Silence!” he roared, desperately clutching the ancient yellow sword. Without a second thought, he turned to launch another attack.
His body, covered in scars and missing an arm and a leg, felt a sudden, silent presence behind him.
Silence had returned, calm and silent, like a true reaper of death.
With a Ruin-level Relic in hand, she transported herself during the final moments of her apparent demise, vanishing in an instant. She was fragile, on the edge of death, but her face remained expressionless as she opened a floating scroll.
“Realm of Infinity, Ever-changing Facade.”
Collapsed.
…
Everything around them—Austin, the ancient yellow sword, and the entire space—was strangely separated by an invisible force.
Austin’s eyes widened in horror.
The next moment, everything shattered like fragile glass.
Justice will ultimately triumph over evil, but such ideals were a fantasy. If they truly existed, Night Watchers would not perish from generation to generation.
People had long known that, in the eternal battle between justice and evil, it is often only the strongest who survive until the end.
Austin, ever since he became a Night Watcher, had known his fate.
Noah, of the Air Alliance, had always experienced a false sense of peace and happiness. In the infinite, chaotic universe, countless dangers lurked like monstrous beasts, always seeking to devour, consume, and destroy everything in their path.
Sadly, it always succeeded.
In the quiet, dark universe, there was no light or hope—except for the faint glow ignited by a few dreamers, serving as a fleeting torch, if only for a moment.
There had never been a legendary Night Watcher who met a happy end. This was not a warning, but a simple truth.
“I want to join the Demon Hunt Agency as a Night Watcher,” Austin had once said. “I will be the lantern bearer for the people of Noah, braving the darkest nights, never fleeing or fearing death. I will hold up the last ray of light for the lost and confused, dispelling their fear and keeping warmth alive.”
Years passed, and Austin watched helplessly as those he loved disappeared, one by one, into the grave. Even the vows he had made when joining the Demon Hunt Agency had transformed.
But the Night Watcher never changed.
…
On the broken structure below, Amy and the others gazed at Austin’s lifeless body in shock.
Could the director of the Demon Hunt General Agency, the Night Watcher of the mighty Air Alliance, still stand a chance against the terrifying power of the Ruin-level Relic?
But Silence was clearly nearing death, severely injured and unable to intervene in the battle.
Above, the pale giant hand once again emitted a repulsive, nauseating sound.
“Did the ignorant weaklings see it? Your fate will be the same. Surrender now, and I can guarantee your safety.”
Unable to subdue the enemy quickly, Nullify spoke, attempting to weaken their will to fight. Of course, it had no intention of actually sparing them, knowing the individuals from Babel Tower would never yield.
These words of persuasion were a mere tactic to shake their resolve.
But clearly, Amy, Ganis, and Old Mike remained unwavering, their characters too strong to be affected.
For a moment, both sides stood at a stalemate. Empowered by the strength of the Giant Hive citizens, Ganis and the others were not afraid to expend their energy.
If any of them dared to fight recklessly, however, Amy, Ganis, and Old Mike might not survive. There was a clear difference between a middle-ranked Apocalypse and a Potential Apocalypse.
So far, only Mu Ling from Babel Tower had defeated the “Envy” at the level of an Apocalypse, but not in a one-on-one battle.
Nullify, cautious of taking risks, knew its clones could be harmed by the Mystical Power, so it chose to wear them down slowly.
It remained calm, fully aware of its advantage. As long as Silence recovered, the two of them, working together, would swiftly eliminate the “small bugs” from Babel Tower.
Strong ones in the Apocalypse level, as long as their souls remain intact, generally recover quickly. Even without extraordinary healing powers, their bodies possess remarkable self-healing abilities.
Suddenly, the appearance of all three Babel Tower members changed!
They were now filled with new possibilities.
The God of the Arena, Fist of Duel.
Mechanical Ascension: Cybertyrant.
Abyssus Extinguisher: The Final Gun.
“What is this?” Nullify exclaimed, amazed. The tricks of Babel Tower kept escalating, truly unbelievable!
Then, a powerful energy silently approached.
Ganis quickly turned his head, focusing his gaze.
Above, tens of kilometers away, a towering, previously invisible white mecha appeared. Standing dozens of meters tall, its body made of special materials, it seemed divine—majestic and destructive.
Two cannons mounted on the towering white mecha gathered energy instantly.
God of Destruction.
Ganis furrowed his brow, recognizing it as the trump card of the Rock Morgan group from Ring City—the legendary, most powerful war mech with its own soul.
Although it appeared to be a mecha, it was, in fact, a unique creature, its combat abilities rivaling those of the Apocalypse.
“Boom!”
Particle cannons fired, unleashing terrifying attacks from dozens of kilometers away, instantly covering the Babel Tower group.
