Chapter 498: The Meeting of Resentment and Hatred
Another Dimension’s Giant Hive
This is a purple dimension composed of countless bubbles. In the void of this space, thousands upon thousands of bubbles float, each reflecting the experiences of sentient beings, playing out like scenes from a movie.
“Where am I?”
Alan looked utterly bewildered, unsure of what had happened or where he had ended up.
[Mysterious magic…]
When the voice of the Savior echoed in his mind, the puzzle finally clicked into place.
Soon, Alan—now calm—analyzed his surroundings and deduced his location.
“This seems to be the Dimension of Memories. These bubbles are people’s memories… It’s truly unexpected that I ended up here in this way.”
The Dimension of Memories was not a place ordinary people frequented. Delving into this realm often risked disrupting the memories of others. Those with the power to sense memories would usually avoid entering unless absolutely necessary.
Alan’s body floated over the bubbles, observing them curiously. He watched the memories of countless individuals, lost in deep thought.
“Nice to meet you again, Mr. Alan.”
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out.
Alan’s heart leapt in alarm.
It’s him!
“The Son of God,” Amicio.
This was the man who had almost taken his eyes in the past.
Amicio’s presence was dazzling, radiating a mesmerizing brilliance that captivated anyone who gazed at him. Alan felt the pull but quickly recovered, choosing to close his eyes.
“…”
Alan remained silent but vigilant.
He knew this man was likely an enemy, and the chances of defeating him were slim.
As a lower-ranked Apocalypse, Alan was no match for an upper-ranked Apocalypse like Amicio. Even with the help of Babel Tower and the Savior, the disparity in strength was clear.
“Don’t be afraid, Mr. Alan. We might not be enemies anymore.”
Amicio’s voice was gentle, like a spring breeze. A faint smile played at the corners of his lips, exuding an almost irresistible charm.
“I want to join Babel Tower and fight against those people led by Mr. Xia. May I?”
Alan blinked slightly but kept his eyes closed.
“Why?”
He hadn’t forgotten the greed in Amicio’s gaze when he had last sought Alan’s Pupil of Mystery. Was Amicio truly not after it this time? Was he really planning to betray his allies?
Amicio replied immediately, “Well, joining Babel Tower seems more… entertaining. I have no desire to be your enemy again. Besides, I’d love to see the look on Mr. Xia’s face when he’s betrayed. Hehe.”
Alan remained silent, unsure how to respond.
Amicio, a powerful upper-ranked Apocalypse, could pose a serious threat to Mr. Xia if he launched a surprise attack. Even though Xia had reached the terrifying level of a quasi-god, he wasn’t invincible.
Having someone like Amicio on their side would undoubtedly strengthen Babel Tower. But Alan still hesitated.
“Come out, Noa.”
Amicio waved his hand, and a girl suddenly appeared beside him.
She was his follower.
The young girl who appeared had no arms and was blind in her right eye. Her left eye, however, gleamed like a sapphire, radiating a light blue hue.
Alan froze as if struck by lightning.
It’s her!
“Hm?”
Amicio noticed the sudden, intense killing intent emanating from Alan. Surprisingly, it wasn’t directed at him but at Noa, the girl standing by his side.
“Noa, do you know him?” Amicio asked, squinting slightly as he smiled.
The girl shook her head.
Alan took a deep breath and slowly said, “Do you remember Tatsumi City? There was a Night Watcher named Lin Bian. He spared your life.”
“Yes, I remember,” Noa replied without hesitation, nodding.
She remembered.
So it really is her!
Anger flared up and burned fiercely in Aaron’s eyes.
“Master?” Noa looked at Amicio, unsure whether to continue.
“Oh?”
Amicio’s eyes lit up. He didn’t interrupt their conversation but instead listened intently, his interest evident.
In the next moment, Alan blurted out words he had suppressed for a long time. “Back then, Lin Bian spared you, but you mercilessly killed his daughter, didn’t you? Why?”
Noa smiled, as though she had heard something amusing.
“He thought I was an innocent person, unaware that I am the master of the Black Wizard Clan. That just goes to show how foolish he was to let me go secretly,” she said.
She continued, her tone unwavering,
“At that time, the Night Watchers of Tatsumi City killed and captured all my apprentices, destroying years of my work. Fortunately, I managed to escape and sought revenge by killing the daughter of their leader. I used her blood and pain to complete a ritual that would hide my whereabouts. What’s wrong with that?”
Alan was not surprised. The reasoning felt almost mundane.
In Tatsumi City, the conflict between Night Watchers and Black Wizards had been an unbroken cycle for hundreds of years.
Alan nodded, his expression unreadable, and looked at Amicio. “We cannot become allies.”
“Because she thought I didn’t want to give her to you?” Amicio asked, casually pondering the notion.
“Even if it were me, I wouldn’t casually give away my woman… No, that’s not the reason,” he said.
Amicio’s gaze locked on Alan’s, his superior and condescending air undeniable despite their similar stature.
“The real reason is that I am deeply curious about the twists in your heart—the hatred in your eyes, the obsessions in your mind. All of it fascinates me,” he said.
“When people struggle and long for something, they are at their most interesting… The unattainable, love that separates, and the feelings of resentment and hatred. Hahaha, you seem to have experienced each one, and they have left their mark on you.”
Alan silently gazed at the Son of God, shaking his head.
“I not only seek revenge, Amicio,” Alan said, his voice calm but resolute. “I also want to kill you here.”
“Me?” Amicio hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Are you saying that even if I handed her over, you still wouldn’t spare me? Just because of you?”
Alan nodded.
“Thanks to her, I remember everything now. Black Wizards are truly wicked beings,” he declared.
“Dark magic, as numerous as strands of hair on a cow, requires the use of innocent lives and the emotions of fear, pain, and despair. For you, the value of others’ lives simply doesn’t exist, and this indifference is exactly what I despise about you the most.”
“Someone once said you are both good and evil, Amicio,” Alan continued.
“In history, you’ve not only done terrible things but also helped many good people—famous heroes. That’s why there are countless positive stories and praises about you. But I know the truth: you are truly evil!”
“Amicio, as the most powerful Black Wizard in the World of Noah, your casual slaughter of innocent people has surely piled up into a mountain of sins. You are far from innocent, and I cannot stand by and do nothing!”
“So, I want to kill you,” Alan declared again, his voice heavy with unwavering belief, as unshakable as a mountain.
Noa sneered.
“Could it be that you’ve never killed an innocent person? Never done anything deceitful in your whole life?” she mocked.
“Never,” Alan replied, his voice firm and filled with conviction.
Amicio fell silent for a moment, his tone calm but carrying the chilling weight of a devil from hell.
“But the consequence of your actions will be your own death. I shall bind your soul and seize the Pupil of Mystery. Afterward, you will be unable to be resurrected by the Savior of the Babel Tower, and you will forever endure my torment.”
Alan paused, his thoughts swirling. Amicio’s understanding of the Babel Tower seemed far greater than his own.
“Why not try a different mindset, Mr. Alan?” Amicio’s voice softened, as though he were earnestly advising him.
“Let us go, which means letting go of yourself. I can help you. I can even help Babel Tower, giving you a chance to save those innocent people. Think carefully—this choice serves a greater justice, doesn’t it?”
“If you start a war with us now, my power will become a direct threat to Babel Tower. And if that happens, Babel Tower will face even greater danger. In doing so, you would be betraying both Babel Tower and the Savior. All because of temporary dissatisfaction and anger, you would be sacrificing the lives of millions.”
“Stop talking,” Alan said, cutting off the other person.
Amicio remained silent, a smile lingering on his face. He had already said everything he wanted to.
Now, it was up to this man to make his decision.
Regardless of what Alan chose, Amicio knew he would struggle and feel conflicted. To him, the resulting turmoil would be endlessly fascinating.
At that moment, Alan, who had kept his eyes shut, slowly opened them. Fearlessly and without hesitation, he locked eyes with the Son of God.
“If I have to choose between two evils, I would rather choose neither. Instead, I will fight with all my heart.”
The spell had been cast. There was no inner turmoil.
In that instant, his gaze was clear—free from confusion or doubt!
“I am the Night Watcher.”
“I am the ‘Mysterious Magic’ of Babel Tower.”
“I am destined to be your enemy. I am tired of deceitful words, and no situation will change because of me. Now, there is only one thing left for me to do.”
“Using all my strength, I will destroy you.”
Amicio frowned, his initial interest waning. This man turned out to be far less intriguing than he had anticipated.
To his surprise, there wasn’t a single trace of hesitation in Alan’s eyes.
“So, I’ll let you taste despair first and see how you react.”
Amicio wasn’t in a hurry. Everyone breaks under extreme pressure, and he wanted to witness if this man would still persist when pushed to his limits.
“So, it’s my turn.”
Amicio raised his hand and calmly unleashed thousands of black shadows. They surged forward, enveloping the surrounding purple space in an attempt to consume Alan completely.
“Bang!”
With a deafening noise, the terrifying spell of the black wizard shattered in an instant. The oppressive darkness dispersed as if it had never existed.
Alan’s eyes transformed—pure black pupils replaced his usual ones, holding a depth and wisdom akin to the infinite expanse of the universe.
