Chapter 449: Coercion
At this moment, inside the Giant Hive, Bai Yan’s mind held no recollection of the previous cycle.
“Indeed, memories can be lost… Only the Almighty retains memories. From what I recall, even the ‘retrograde’ technique could affect divine beings.”
If not for the first playthrough of Babel Tower, Bai Yan would have been tremendously astonished by the time regression he had already experienced multiple times.
But now, it merely felt like, “It has finally arrived.”
He pondered briefly and decided to proceed directly according to the predetermined plan.
“Wait for me, please.”
The three girls hadn’t fully grasped Bai Yan’s words when his incarnation had already returned to the Babel Tower.
In an instant, all the memories synchronized.
The true form of Bai Yan, always silently seated on the throne, observed everything that unfolded, including the occurrences of going back in time.
She smiled and muttered to herself,
“Such an interesting power, and the way it’s presented is great. I really like the boss design of ‘the Almighty,’ hehe.”
Even the time-traveling technology of the annulus civilization could only affect the singular universe of Noah’s World, leaving Bai Yan unaffected inside the Babel Tower.
“As long as my true self remains inside Babel Tower without leaving, I will not be affected in any way. This makes things much easier… If one is not aware of being traced back, then it becomes a very serious problem.”
Bai Yan smiled and narrowed his eyes, contemplating how to fully neutralize the Almighty.
Time reversal truly was a formidable force.
It was almost unbelievable.
To most, the Almighty appeared to possess an almost supernatural ability to foresee the future. But Bai Yan knew the truth. The time regression was not foresight—it was an active manipulation of the timeline.
Thanks to his experience during the first playthrough of Babel Tower, Bai Yan understood the Almighty’s power thoroughly, including its strengths, weaknesses, and limitations.
The advantages:
Instantaneous activation.
Unlimited usage.
Universe-wide coverage with no depletion.
The drawbacks:
The ability was active rather than passive. It required the Almighty to consciously initiate it.
Bai Yan let out a sigh.
“It’s incredibly powerful. Truly the hallmark of an advanced civilization. Though it’s just the tip of the iceberg, it already presents a daunting challenge.”
To completely defeat the Almighty, a precise and calculated strategy was essential.
After finalizing his thoughts, Bai Yan returned to the Giant Hive, specifically to Partridge’s home.
Mu Ling and the others were already there. From the bathroom, the sound of running water echoed—Mu Ling was taking a bath, as usual.
Suddenly, Partridge spoke, her voice tinged with curiosity.
“Did you hear that sound, Mr. Profligate? Hehe, are you interested in your bathing companion?”
Bai Yan smiled. “I’m interested.”
Partridge blinked in surprise at his candidness.
“Maybe she can hear you,” she warned.
Bai Yan’s only response was a faint smile.
Just then, the radio in the city crackled to life. A neutral voice, representing the Almighty, broadcasted loudly:
“Warning! The evil members of the Babel Tower have invaded the Giant Hive! Citizens, please stay calm! The Noy Military Council will handle the situation!”
“The kind Almighty requests the members of Babel Tower to leave the Giant Hive immediately. Otherwise, the Noy Military Council will indiscriminately attack your comrades!”
The announcement was loud enough to blanket the entire hive. Every resident could hear it.
“Comrades?” Mu Ling, still in the bathroom, paused.
“Do we even have comrades in this city? Are they referring to Elene’s rebellion army?”
Before she could finish the thought, an explosion shook the nearby streets.
BOOM!
The devastating force of the blast was unmistakable. Fierce flames shot skyward, consuming everything in their path.
Bai Yan assessed the scene grimly.
“So that’s how it is.”
In the previous cycle, he had inadvertently leaked information to the Almighty, allowing her to infer the presence of Babel Tower members within the Hive.
Now, the Almighty was using the lives of ordinary citizens as leverage.
“This is absurd!” Mu Ling exclaimed, rushing out of the bathroom in fresh clothes.
“She’s threatening innocent lives to control us!”
Taking a deep breath, she
continued,
“We must not let the Almighty
have her way! Too many
innocent lives have already
been lost. More will fall victim
to her cruelty if we don’t act!”
However, Bai Yan remained
calm.
He glanced at Mu Ling, then
asked,
“Between the Savior’s
command and the lives of the
innocent, which is more
important to you?”
“The Savior will not abandon
the innocent,” Mu Ling replied
without hesitation.
Bai Yan nodded approvingly.
“Good. Since you trust me so
much, I won’t let you down.”
Moments later, he made a bold
decision.
“The Savior has ordered us to
retreat from the Giant Hive.”
Mu Ling hesitated, visibly
conflicted.
“But… we can’t retreat now!”
Elene, however, was less
restrained. She quickly
scribbled on a piece of paper:
“If we leave, the Almighty will
only strengthen her defenses!
We need to destroy the cloning
facility now!”
Bai Yan remained unfazed.
“The Savior’s commands are
absolute.”
Elene refused to back down,
her determination clear. But
before she could protest
further, Bai Yan effortlessly
used Psychic Domination to
subdue her will.
As they retreated into the
Babel Tower, Bai Yan’s true
intentions remained hidden.
The Almighty, confident in her
“victory,” underestimated the
threat posed by Babel Tower.
But Bai Yan had carefully
orchestrated this retreat to lull
the Almighty into a false sense
of security.
Deep within the Tower, he sat
upon his throne, eyes gleaming
with excitement.
“This boss fight… it’s
challenging, yes, but also
thrilling. Now, let’s see who
prevails.”
