Chapter 377: Summoning: Embracing New Possibilities!
“Zeuo needs to be saved!”
In a small town on the outskirts of the sacred city, snowflakes swirled gently in the air. At the town’s entrance stood a ragged, fur-clad prophet. His wild hair framed his face, and his blind eyes stared into the distance. He raised his wooden staff high, waving it with a sense of urgency.
His voice, deep and commanding, carried through the cold air, filled with anger and a desperate determination.
“The Holy Light Kingdom needs to be saved!” he bellowed. “If not, everyone will face a terrible fate. The end of days is upon us! The land has fallen into ruin, and we, the people, must rescue this world!”
The prophet paused and continued, “You may wonder: Can the mighty Light God, the great Light God, save us from this world plagued by the Decaying Disaster?”
At this point, the answer was already clear. “Sadly, even the Heavenly God Church cannot save us. The once-great Light God… now, even He cannot save us!”
“Ah!” The prophet’s voice cracked with sorrow. “What a tragic fate! Like a violent storm sweeping away the fragile souls of the people! The weak kneel and pray, unaware that the gods themselves have already fallen!”
Around the prophet, only a handful of listeners remained. Most were elderly, frail, and sickly townsfolk, with only a few grown men among them.
This small town, nestled near the holy city, had always been well-protected, perhaps because it provided sustenance to the sacred city. The land here had never experienced Decaying Disasters, and the Heavenly God Church’s miraculous powers had kept the frozen soil manageable, allowing crops to grow. As a result, life had been relatively good.
The audience for the prophet’s fervent words, however, was not large.
Then, suddenly, the beast-skin prophet extended his trembling, weathered finger and pointed toward the sky.
“I saw it! I saw it!” he cried. “The Savior is coming! His arrival will restore order to this world! In that time, our children will no longer cry! Vulnerable women will no longer be afraid! Suffering men will no longer feel sorrow! Radiance and warmth will return to the earth!”
The prophet’s face flushed, and his eyes sparkled with a renewed hope, while his listeners, captivated, stood in stunned silence, their emotions stirred.
“Deceptive words!”
Suddenly, a loud shout broke the tension, and the crowd scattered in a panic.
A knight captain, donned in red and golden armor, rode a scarred black steed. He led a group of holy city knights who quickly surrounded the prophet.
The prophet chuckled, his gaze fixed on the knight captain.
“You!” the prophet said. “You are a person of sorrow! I have seen your fate!”
“Take them away!” commanded the knight captain in his resplendent armor.
The prophet screamed in madness, “Ah! You weak survivors! Only the Savior can guide us! The gods have fallen! Fallen, oh!”
The knights hastily dragged the prophet away, while the knight captain wore a stern expression, as if pondering something deeply.
After leading the patrol for a time, the knight captain arrived at the restored inn and paused there for a moment.
“Bernard, the clumsy bear, couldn’t even defeat a woman… Or perhaps he teamed up with Aurora and escaped together?” he mused.
Shaking his head, the knight captain decided to lead his team back to the holy city.
The holy city was unchanged. No snow fell, and everything remained as busy, clean, and orderly as it had been for over a decade. Even if the entire Continent of Zeuo were blanketed in winter, the holy city experienced the regular four seasons.
The people attributed this to the protection of the Light God, though only the higher ranks of the church knew the true reason.
Far away, in another land, a knight named Garfield—renowned for his shining armor, handsome face, and fiery red hair—was called the “Great Knight of Honor” by the people. Among the three knights of the Heavenly God Church, he was the strongest.
Garfield’s strength was considered equivalent to a Potential Apocalypse, according to Noah’s classification.
However, of the three knights, only Garfield remained. The Great Knight Bernard, the “White Bear,” had vanished, and the other had fallen in battle against Tylor’s army. But like King Silger, their deaths were kept hidden, concealed from the public.
Upon returning to the holy city, Garfield in his red and golden armor headed directly to the church’s residence.
Inside, the priests knelt in silent prayer, their heads bowed in reverence. For years, they had been praying, hoping that the mighty Light God would grant a miracle to end the Decaying Disaster.
Aurora had once believed their prayers were in vain, and so she left the Heavenly God Church.
As Garfield walked down the sacred corridor, the echoes of the choir filled his ears. Without a word, he entered the magnificent Hall of Light, where King Silger once listened to divine prophecies.
The sound of his iron boots echoed on the floor. Garfield knelt before a slowly rotating black sphere that floated before him.
“The substitute,” Garfield said calmly. “As instructed, we’ve created another Decaying Disaster and extracted what you needed.”
[Okay.]
From the black sphere, a voice—a growl like that of a wild beast—sounded in Garfield’s ears, though it soon transformed into the word “okay.”
The voice belonged to a Tylor agent responsible for delivering orders. Garfield was now entirely under his control.
He remembered the epic battle of many years ago—far from the Holy City, where a mighty army from the Tylor civilization, led by King Silger, fought against them. Garfield and the other knight captains had been confident, sure of victory, but the outcome had been disastrous.
The mighty Tylor forces had wiped them out. Only King Silger and a few demigods had been able to resist. The rest had been powerless, unable to defend themselves.
The sky had blazed red, and the land had been filled with chaos as Tylor’s spaceships soared above them. Garfield had felt fear for the first time—his once-proud strength had been so insignificant against the Tylor’s might.
The battle had ended with the demigods perishing or being captured, and King Silger had lost his powers, reduced to a mere puppet.
That battle had shaped Zeuo’s future. Though Tylor’s military withdrew, the teleportation portals they left behind remained, ready to send reinforcements at any time.
The people of Zeuo were powerless.
“Oh, and one more thing, Mr. Agent,” Garfield said after some thought.
“Aurora, the former saint of the church, has been searching for the truth outside these past few years. She seems to have discovered something and returned to the holy city with her knights…”
[Erased.]
The black sphere growled again, its voice conveying “erased.”
Garfield quickly explained, “I sent Bernard, the chief of the Polar Bear Knights, to eliminate her… But after last night’s battle, both Aurora and Bernard vanished… They might have escaped together.”
[…] [Don’t delay the plan.]
Garfield felt a sense of urgency from the Tylor agent’s response. He was disappointed but dared not challenge their authority.
On the one hand, Garfield was terrified of their power. On the other, he hoped that, once the Decaying Disaster reduced Zeuo’s population by ninety percent, he would become Emperor of the Continent with Tylor’s support.
Despite stronger figures on the continent, Garfield held a respected position as Commander of the Heavenly God Church. With Tylor’s backing, he could fulfill his dream of becoming the Emperor of the New Era.
So, Garfield tried to appease the Tylors, rationalizing that all of this was simply due to circumstances beyond his control. In his mind, no one could have stopped the ongoing disasters and suffering of the people of Zeuo.
“Agent,” he vowed, “I will eliminate anyone who stands in the way of our plan.”
On Bai Yan’s phone, a new event called “Liberating Zeuo” had appeared.
This was a medium-sized event.
“The power of the Tylor civilization is indeed overwhelming,” Bai Yan mused. “But liberating Zeuo is a medium-sized task. It’s not as difficult as the Babel Tower makes it out to be.”
Bai Yan tilted his head slightly, thinking about the upcoming large-scale event, Annottales’ “Dark Night Lost City.” This would involve many tasks and high-quality enemies—certainly a challenge.
However, despite the formidable Dead Silence sect, it was nothing compared to the might of the Tylor civilization. The strength of both sides was wildly mismatched.
But “Liberating Zeuo” was just a small-scale event in the Babel Tower. Bai Yan studied the event details and gained a clearer understanding of the situation.
“I see… The colonizers in Zeuo aren’t as terrifying as I thought… The real Zeuo army is too sparse to be stationed here constantly.”
The new event lasted for seven days.
For the first five days, they needed to send two Core Operators to Zeuo each day to handle the Decaying Disasters. On the seventh day, the Savior would have to send three Core Operators to the holy city to destroy the Tylor’s teleportation array.
Bai Yan grasped the situation. There were likely not many Tylors left on the continent, especially in the holy city.
The Decaying Disasters were most likely caused by defectors from the Heavenly God Church.
Given this, it seemed likely that the main antagonist in “Liberating Zeuo” would be Aurora, a former member of the Heavenly God Church.
“This BOSS shouldn’t be too hard,” Bai Yan thought. “It’s more of a transitional challenge.”
Before the event began, Bai Yan learned that Ganis had returned successfully from the trials in the Shadow Kingdom. Ganis had obtained a legendary martial art technique—”Bathing in Blood.”
Bai Yan examined the details and realized it was a powerful passive martial art technique. The more severe the injuries Ganis suffered, the more life force he could absorb from his enemies.
“Seems like the ‘Fist of Duel’ becomes an unstoppable warrior when facing countless foes,” Bai Yan mused with a grin.
With that in mind, Bai Yan decided to summon ten new characters.
First summon: “Possibility! Abyss Recorder – Truth Scholar (Seven Days)”
Bai Yan recalled the last time he drew an Abyss Recorder—this one would unlock a skin for the Truth Scholar. It was an intriguing draw, as he remembered the last encounter where the Truth Scholar had taken on the guise of “Xiao Xia” and observed a false Savior.
Second summon: “World Line
Change Fragment · The Golden
Country×1”
Another fragment for The
Golden Country. Bai Yan
remembered unlocking it
during the first playthrough. It
provided an additional
dungeon, “The Golden
Country,” where the Savior
could dispatch Core Operators
to obtain unique treasures.
Third summon: “World Line
Change Fragment · Fusang
Tree×1”
The Fusang Tree had appeared
in the second playthrough,
unlocking a mysterious
phenomenon from the East.
Bai Yan wasn’t sure about the
effects, but many fragments
had been collected.
Fourth summon: “Possibility!
Prisoner of Deep Sin and
Moon Witch ×1 (Seven Days)”
Another witch’s skin, but Bai
Yan recalled that she had
several variants.
Fifth summon: “World Line
Change Fragment ·
Niebelungen×1”
Niebelungen, a legendary
realm, had appeared in the first
playthrough. Bai Yan had
unlocked both martial arts and
relics from this place.
Sixth summon: “World Line
Change Fragment · Naraku
Yellow Spring×1”
Still unclear on the effects of
this fragment, but it had
appeared in the second
playthrough.
Seventh summon: “World Line
Change Fragment ·
Niebelungen×1”
With several fragments now,
Niebelungen was almost
ready to unlock.
Eighth summon: “Possibility!
The Song of the Dragon: The
Innocent Singer (Seven Days)”
Bai Yan could barely believe it.
One fragment away from
completing this skin.
Ninth summon: “Possibility!
The Devourer of Worlds,
Descendant of the Apocalypse
Dragon (Seven Days)”
An intriguing summon, the
descendant of the apocalypse
dragon, though Bai Yan had
some confusion about the role
it played.
Tenth summon: “Maybe it’s
possible! The Evolution Doctor,
Cybertyrant! (Forever)”
Bai Yan was pleased with this
one. Though a makeshift
healer, Cybertyrant would
provide useful support.
He couldn’t wait to see how
the new additions would
change the tide of upcoming
events!
