Chapter 334: The Holy Lady of Desire
Bai Yan was deep in thought.
He couldn’t figure out what kind of person the “Holy Lady of Desire” truly was. After all, during the first playthrough, Babel Tower hadn’t featured the “Sacred Heart’s Chosen” core operator.
The exclusive skin for the second playthrough looked rather intriguing.
Since he’d already drawn it, he might as well try it on and see how it worked.
“I hope I can be of some use,” Bai Yan sighed.
Holy Lady of Desire:
A powerful saint who rules over desires and manipulates emotions. In this alternate timeline, she dons a more casual outfit—no longer the golden armor she is usually seen wearing in another world. Instead, she now wears a black, abstinent-style evening gown with an open front.
In this world, the deity worshipped by the “Sacred Heart’s Chosen” is the God of Desires. As the Holy Lady of Desire, her original power set has been replaced by that of the “Desire Goddess.” She has the ability to manipulate emotional energy, ignite deep desires within people’s hearts, and use mysterious methods that catch others off guard.
Bai Yan couldn’t help but pause, considering what this meant for him. This change had essentially turned him into a mage, hadn’t it?
He was no longer a knight.
But as he reflected on it, Bai Yan realized that the skin of the “Sacred Heart’s Chosen” still belonged to a divine chosen one. In fact, Mary’s skin had undergone even greater transformations…
“Let’s give it a try later and see the specific abilities it grants me,” Bai Yan thought to himself.
He was also unsure whether this new state of the “Sacred Heart’s Chosen” could help him quickly pass through the second stage of the “Eve” night.
For now, he could only observe and decide later.
Of course, the first ten rounds had not yet concluded. He still had three uses left for the “regret card.”
After much deliberation, Bai Yan finally selected “Naraku Yellow Spring,” “Shadow Kingdom,” and “Fusang Tree” as his choices for the “regret card.”
“Please, please, kind old lady, don’t give me the Shadow Kingdom again,” he muttered under his breath.
In an instant, three new cards appeared on his phone screen.
First summon:
“Possibility! Beyond the Heaven’s Reach – Deep Sea Frontier (Seven Days)”
A completely unknown operator name and skin name appeared.
Bai Yan stood there, stunned, unable to comprehend what had just happened. “What is this?” he wondered.
But he decided to ignore it for now, shaking his head gently before flipping open the next two cards.
Second summon:
“World Line Change Fragment · Niebelungen ×1”
Third summon:
“World Line Change Fragment · Land of Mist ×1”
These fragments didn’t seem to be of any immediate use.
Bai Yan sighed and nodded, accepting the reality.
He then took out his list of operators from his phone, eyes scanning for “Sacred Heart’s Chosen.”
And then… the possibility of change emerged!
Holy Lady of Desire!
Another World
The Continent of Zeuo.
“We didn’t arrive late this time, and we managed to deal with the source of the Decaying Disaster ahead of time.”
In a remote village, the Knights of the Sacred Heart had arrived before the Decaying Disaster completely broke out in the area. They managed to extinguish the source of the disaster right there.
The source had been a middle-aged farmer who suddenly transformed into a demon, nearly infecting the other villagers.
Just like in previous Decaying Disasters, the mutation came without warning.
If it hadn’t been for the Knights’ timely arrival, the consequences could have been catastrophic.
Aurora stood in the village, gazing at the sky, the cold touch of falling snow landing on her face.
Ever since the Decaying Disaster began over a decade ago, the Continent of Zeuo had become progressively colder.
Over the past year, it had begun to snow constantly.
The snow never ceased.
Her assistant, Judy, spoke up. “It’s been snowing non-stop for over a year now. Many people have starved to death because of it… If this continues, hunger may destroy the world before the Decaying Disaster itself.”
“Captain, do we really have a way to save this world? Can the Savior… can His power help us?” she asked.
Yesterday, they had traveled to another world and fought.
Now, not just Aurora but the entire group had become interested in Babel Tower and the Savior.
Aurora exchanged a glance with Judy, silent for a moment. The impact of her “ascension to Heaven” still weighed heavily on her. She had never shared with the others that God had fallen.
Finally, she smiled softly and nodded, determination gleaming in her eyes.
“Yes,” she replied.
The events of the previous day were fresh in Aurora’s mind as she took a deep breath.
Even if the priests could conjure food, it would only be enough for a few people. Even if she managed to rid the world of all the demons, she would still be unable to solve the worsening famine.
Would this world eventually be destroyed?
“No,” she said firmly.
She believed that at the end of despair, there would always be hope, no matter how small. And she vowed to hold onto that hope, no matter what.
If people gave up before hope arrived… that would be true despair.
“Captain! There’s a monster attacking!” someone from the knights’ group called out from the entrance of the village.
Aurora exchanged a quick glance with Judy. They weren’t entirely surprised, though the attack was certainly unexpected.
Perhaps because of the Decaying Disaster or the constant snow, many creatures and monsters that usually stayed hidden had become more restless.
“Everyone, get ready!” Aurora shouted, quickly mounting her Dragon Blood War Horse. She led the knights as they charged out of the village.
Outside, a colossal crimson monster stood, nearly a hundred meters high. It roared loudly, its body resembling molten lava. Dozens of yellow eyes adorned its head, glaring down at the knights below.
“Roarrr!”
It was angry.
“What a huge creature!” a knight yelled. They readied themselves for Aurora’s command to attack.
Though the monster was enormous and posed a significant threat, they were confident that if they followed their Captain’s lead, they could defeat any foe.
Then, something extraordinary happened.
[Sacred Heart’s Chosen]
[This is the possibility you should have.]
Aurora, riding her horse, was stunned. She had always been calm and composed, but now she couldn’t make sense of what was happening.
Her armor started to blur, as if undergoing some transformation—yet it seemed to be disappearing entirely.
Was this the monster’s ability?
To make her armor vanish before everyone’s eyes?
Aurora was unfazed by the disappearance of her armor. She was no shy young girl and had no problem donning long-sleeved linen clothes and joining the knights in battle.
But when her undergarments disappeared along with the armor…
Even the usually calm Aurora felt a little anxious.
Then she remembered the familiar voice in her mind—was it the voice of the Savior?
Could this be an intervention from the Savior of Babel Tower?
“Captain, what’s happening?” one of the knights shouted.
The rest of the squad watched in disbelief, unsure of what to make of the situation.
Before them, Aurora’s golden armor had completely vanished, replaced by a modest black evening gown that accentuated her graceful figure.
The knights, battle-hardened and accustomed to fighting side by side with their Captain, were stunned.
They had never seen anything like this before.
Aurora opened her mouth slightly, unsure of what to do next.
She had attended countless formal events as a saint, as a knight, but she had never worn an evening gown herself.
It felt so strange.
Aurora’s arms and legs were exposed, and the tight gown revealed her pale chest.
Though she had immense supernatural powers, she felt a shiver.
But the most shocking part was…
She had lost her horse!
Her loyal Dragon Blood War Horse, her companion in countless battles, was gone without a trace.
“What is going on?” Aurora murmured, utterly lost.
“Roarrr!” The monster finally snapped out of its momentary confusion, still fueled by hunger and anger. It moved forward with even more ferocity.
“Not… not… Respected Savior, what is happening? Please, this can’t be a joke!” Aurora thought, feeling utterly lost.
Her knights, now silent, exchanged shocked glances.
Savior…
Aurora couldn’t understand.
But surely, the Savior must have a clever plan.
