Chapter 225: Overflowing in the World, Recording All Things
Demon Hunt Agency Building.
A few minutes ago, Moon Witch stood calmly on the sixth underground floor of the Demon Hunt Agency.
She approached a plain-looking door in the red pathway, resembling a hotel corridor, and opened it with a simple motion of her hand.
“Squeak.”
As the door creaked open, she entered a vast, pure white room. A smile appeared on her face as she slowly advanced forward.
Moon Witch was gradually drawing closer to the Civilization-level Relic, an item of immense importance to the Demon Hunt Agency in Tatsumi City: the Book of Prophecy.
She murmured softly to herself, “I’ve always wondered if the other half of this Relic was hidden within the Demon Hunt Agency… but after being manipulated by the Saint of Life and Death, I’ve finally come to a conclusion.”
“So that’s it, you’ve been here all along.”
The Book of Prophecy was a significant prize from Ailsa, the first founder of the Demon Hunt Agency, known as the Demon of Justice. This legendary figure in the history of the Air Alliance was once a mere slave girl, responsible for washing clothes, before she gained incredible power and achieved astonishing feats. In many ways, she reshaped the very foundation of the Air Alliance.
Ailsa single-handedly defeated the most formidable cult of the time, Black Hour. Under the banner of justice, she slaughtered a million cultists in a single day, sparking immense fear among the people. Her deeds earned her the moniker, “The Demon of Justice.”
She went on to establish the first structure of the Demon Hunt Agency, recruiting capable and morally upright supernaturals to protect the people of the Air Alliance from evil forces. Ailsa’s advocacy for secrecy changed the Air Alliance forever, leading to the erasure of supernatural phenomena from textbooks and most knowledge about them, including in Tatsumi City.
The separation between supernatural beings and regular humans reduced chaotic incidents. If not for external threats, Ailsa might have eventually sought to eradicate supernatural powers entirely, viewing them as the source of danger.
The Book of Prophecy, the only Relic left behind by Ailsa after her mysterious disappearance, remained in Tatsumi City. Many knew it to be the true Book of Prophecy, but only a few understood its significance.
Perhaps this was also the reason why the “Emperor” was so eager to visit Tatsumi City.
Merete Chambers muttered to herself, “But even you failed to understand the true importance of the Book of Prophecy, Ailsa. Had you not insisted on your death back then, you might have had the chance to ascend as the seventh new god—the new god of Noah’s world.”
If anyone had been present at that moment, they would have been struck by the strangeness in Merete Chambers’ tone. It seemed as though she had known Ailsa, the legendary hero who had long since passed away, for years.
With a smile, Merete continued, “I will take your Relic, but I will not inherit your will, Ailsa… Then, I will sit on the throne of the seventh new god.”
With calm precision, Merete Chambers waved her arm. An invisible silk thread shot out, slicing the Book of Prophecy neatly down the middle.
Among the broken white boulders, a black stone the size of a fist rolled out.
“Come out!” she said with a smile, summoning a large, black book before her.
This was her own Book of Concealment, a treasure of her family, once sought after by the black wizard leader, Weasley, who had scoured the Air Alliance for it. But it had already fallen into Merete’s hands.
As the Book of Concealment came into contact with the black stone, both trembled violently as if some force was pulling them together. Then, they collided mid-air with incredible force and gradually merged into one.
“Ah…” Merete exhaled in a joyful sound, her face lighting up with a maddened smile.
“Exactly this. It’s the thing I’ve always wanted.”
“Finally, I have it in my hands.”
“And next… I will seize this world.”
Meanwhile, Tao Wu remained silent, his gaze fixed on the white-haired woman before him.
Her terrifying smile and gaze sent a chill through him. He had seen that same kind of look once before, on a man with a diamond-shaped mark on his forehead. People like that were always dangerous.
Even if such individuals were not strong at a given moment, they invariably developed their potential, eventually rising to higher positions. They all possessed the power to destroy the world.
But for Tao Wu, this was irrelevant.
His only task was to defeat any obstacles in his path and reach the gate. There, he would destroy the “sealing” and complete his task as “the Undefeated.” That was the sole purpose of his existence.
However, at this moment, the witch spoke words that struck a chord with him.
Merete Chambers said softly, “I know why you gave your life to him… because, even before you entered the Candlelight School, you were already his pawn.”
“You and your mother always relied on each other, living at the lowest level of society in Heart City.”
“Born deaf and mute, with a fragile body, you endured countless illnesses and injuries during your childhood. Your mother worked tirelessly, buying medicine and taking you to doctors just to keep you alive. But she, too, fell ill from exhaustion.”
“If no one had intervened, the fate of you and your mother would have been terrible, a reality common in any city or country.”
Tao Wu’s expression remained deadpan, seemingly indifferent to her words.
But Merete continued, “Then, you met Ramos. He gave you and your mother the treatment you needed—food, medicine, care. It was an unprecedented life for you.”
“I know… that moment felt like a dream to you.”
“But deep down, you knew—clever as you are—that everything comes at a price… When you were sent to Candlelight School, you realized you had to become stronger, to repay his kindness.”
“You knew even then that he wasn’t really a good person.”
Tao Wu remained silent, neither agreeing nor denying. The words meant nothing to him.
It didn’t matter… He understood one thing now.
His task was to overcome all obstacles and fulfill the mission given by that man.
As Ramos had said… this was the end.
It was time to repay the debt himself.
Tao Wu shifted into position, preparing for his next strike.
Flow of the Heart: Heavy Stone. Hollow Earth.
He took several steps forward, launching a tremendous punch, aimed at shattering the witch’s smile.
“Boom!”
Merete Chambers narrowed her eyes.
Exactly the same.
A phantom of Tao Wu—unscathed, in far better condition—appeared before her. He threw the same punch.
The two fists, each containing terrifying power, collided in an explosion of force. The phantom, in better condition, gained the upper hand, amplifying the strength of the blow. Tao Wu, already injured, was sent flying, crashing through the wall like a rocket.
“Gurgle!”
The slime was terrified. One monster was bad enough, but now there was a new one?
Amy and Mr. Trap were equally amazed.
However, the phantom of Tao Wu quickly dissipated, leaving no trace.
“Wow, a bit tired… but the effect is definitely impressive.”
Sweat dripped down Merete Chambers’ stunning face. She had clearly expended much energy, but the smile in her eyes grew only stronger.
“This is just one of its abilities… I’m quite satisfied with it.”
“Although I can only replicate a person once, it can replicate any ‘superhuman power’ I’ve seen… Just now, I replicated your strongest blow, and it worked quite well,” she explained.
Merete wiped the sweat from her delicate complexion, squinting and smiling at Tao Wu, who had just freed himself from the wall.
“Wow, it looks like you really beat yourself up.”
At this moment, Amy, observing through the mecha, noticed numerous white pages floating around Merete Chambers, shimmering with a brilliant light, encircling her like an awe-inspiring river.
This was the true form of the Ruin-level Relic hidden in Tatsumi City.
Its name was Overflowing in the World, Recording All Things.
A Ruin-level Relic connected to the Outer God The Mist of the White Shore, it was born from the ruins of a previous multiverse. The Mist of the White Shore was an Outer God that governed the 23rd hour of each day, a being who controlled and overflowed with all things in the world—neither past nor future, intangible and invisible.
Tao Wu, his right hand mangled and dripping with blood, raised his left hand, walking forward step by step, the light in his eyes unwavering.
“Why must you work so hard? Even if you fall or flee now, you’ve already done your best, haven’t you?”
“Ramos… he actually died.”
At the mention of Ramos’ death, Tao Wu, who had never hesitated, finally stopped.
Merete Chambers’ smile grew malicious.
“It’s fascinating. You never even realized it, but… he occupied the position of ‘father’ in your heart.”
She extended her hand, “But in his eyes, you were nothing but a tool.”
“No matter what you wish to prove, it’s meaningless… Ramos and Yin are dead. Even if you break the ‘seal’, it won’t matter.”
With a sudden shift, Merete Chambers extended her fair hand.
“You never really wanted to kill anyone, did you? Apart from Lin Bian, no one from the Demon Hunt Agency has died. You’ve never been unable to control your power.”
“Yet you’ve been burdened with evil orders for years, those kind-hearted hands stained. But I can give you a reason to live.”
Her voice flowed relentlessly, “Your mother is waiting for you, isn’t she? Becoming my pawn is the only way for you to see her again.”
She paused, smiling, “Now is the moment of decision.”
Tao Wu stood still, pondering, as Amy, Slime, and Mr. Trap observed intently.
Mr. Trap, lost in thought, wondered about Merete Chambers’ true intentions. Would Tao Wu surrender, only to be executed? Or was she pretending to surrender, trying to protect this terrifying cultist?
Amy, sensing the danger,
thought, Why is such a
terrifying person helping us?
Merete’s true intent remained
unclear, but the slime didn’t
think much of it.
Finally, Tao Wu made his
choice.
He stared at Merete Chambers
as she opened her mouth,
silently mouthing a few words.
“I… re… fuse…”
Merete Chambers smirked,
finishing his sentence with
malicious delight.
“Very good. An admirable
choice… from start to finish.”
Tao Wu took a deep breath,
preparing to deliver the final
blow and fulfill the task given
by that man—though he knew
the man was already dead.
“… Let’s begin.”
In the next moment, Tao Wu
widened his eyes in shock.
He didn’t have time to
summon his “Vajra” body
before an invisible blade
cleaved through him. His
vision blurred, and he
collapsed, feeling an
overwhelming sense of
release.
Merete, kneeling on one knee,
was drenched in sweat. Her
black evening dress soaked
through.
“The consumption was too
much… but the effect was
worth it.”
She smiled, “The ability that
killed you comes from Liege,
the vice captain of the Knights
of the Divine Blade in the Eruo
League. As the saying goes,
debts must be repaid in full.
Don’t come looking for me as a
ghost.”
Stunned by Tao Wu’s sudden
death, Mr. Trap and Amy froze
at the mention of the Knights
of the Divine Blade.
“That’s the strongest knight
order of the Eruo League,” Mr.
Trap said, his voice trembling.
“They could rival the Sword-
wielding Troop of the Demon
Hunt Agency… Can she really
replicate such extraordinary
power?”
Merete Chambers smiled
sweetly and shook her finger
at Mr. Trap, who had collapsed
to the ground.
“Don’t be so quick to thank
me… Director, I’ve already
made my decision.”
Mr. Trap’s pupils contracted as
the witch’s smile widened to
its peak.
“You’ve been betrayed.”
