Chapter 162: The Fourth Meeting
The fourth meeting of the Babel Tower convened as planned.
Beneath the radiant, pure-white metallic throne, four dense black mists emerged. Slowly, they coalesced into familiar faces:
Nightsaber
Psychic Dancer
Mysterious Magic
Cybertyrant
They stood respectfully, the weight of the moment palpable.
“Respected Savior, we meet again.”
“It is truly a pleasure to see you.”
Mu Ling, still dressed in her men’s court attire with her cropped hair, lowered her head. Despite her desire, she couldn’t bring herself to address the Savior as intimately as Profligate once did.
A quick glance at her companions confirmed little had changed—except for Maryse.
Maryse, in a strikingly revealing tribal outfit, approached with a playful smirk.
“Sister Nightsaber, you look stunning in that outfit!”
Embarrassed, Mu Ling froze, acutely aware of her attire. She fidgeted internally, wishing she could vanish on the spot. Despite her discomfort, her commanding appearance didn’t go unnoticed.
Maryse squinted, sly curiosity gleaming in her eyes. Is it tailored… or a family secret? If given the chance, she resolved to ask.
Amid the pleasantries, Mysterious Magic broke the tension.
“Respected Savior,” he began, his voice heavy, “I have a question.”
Bai Yan’s gaze sharpened.
“It’s about a friend—a very close friend. Is he still alive?”
Silence hung thick. Bai Yan hesitated. Bai Yan, as he was once known, no longer existed. A direct answer would be cruel.
Instead, he offered a riddle-like reassurance:
[He has temporarily left the city.]
[You will meet again someday—there is still hope.]
Underneath his mask, Alan’s face lit up. Relief coursed through him.
“Thank the heavens,” he thought. “Bai Yan, wherever you are, I’ll find you.” Determination hardened his resolve.
The conversation shifted when Amy, sitting in her wheelchair, raised a pressing question:
“I noticed a massive golden palace in the skies above our city. What is it?”
Bai Yan responded without hesitation:
[The Golden Palace. A divine relic of Babel Tower, wielding immeasurable power.]
The explanation stunned the group. A floating fortress, capable of global annihilation, was no small matter. Its divine aura and untouchable nature were undeniable.
Amy probed further, her curiosity unyielding:
“Won’t it attract unwanted attention? Strong individuals seeking to investigate?”
[Mortals cannot approach it.]
The Savior’s words left no room for doubt. Amy nodded thoughtfully.
Bai Yan then issued a decree:
[New areas within Babel Tower are now accessible. Chant “The Library of Ruina” or “The Heart of Babel Tower” to explore them.]
Mu Ling’s heart leaped at the announcement. At last, the Savior acknowledged them fully! She maintained a stoic demeanor, though her joy threatened to spill over.
Meanwhile, Maryse wasted no time.
“I’ll go first,” she declared, silently repeating the phrase in her mind: “The Library of Ruina.”
In an instant, Maryse found herself in a vast, dark expanse illuminated by cascading golden light. Towering bookshelves stretched endlessly, laden with tomes of unfathomable knowledge.
A disembodied voice greeted her:
“This is a library that records all truths—past and present. But all knowledge comes at a price.”
Maryse hesitated, then asked:
“Did he… ever truly love me as a daughter?”
“The answer will cost you one
year of your life.”
Without flinching, she replied,
“I accept.”
Back in the hall, the group
watched Maryse vanish. Amy
was next.
Repeating “The Heart of Babel
Tower”, she found herself in a
long, white corridor.
She explored the rooms,
discovering unassuming
spaces until she reached the
Doors:
A pitch-black door.
A heart-engraved pink and red
door.
A gray-white door etched with
magical symbols.
A silver-white door resembling
a mechanical chip.
Amy’s instincts led her to open
the silver-white door.
Behind it was the 115th floor—
the familiar Night Union. The
sight brought a pang of
emotion. She tested the next
door, belonging to Mysterious
Magic.
To her shock, it revealed a
sunny street—Tatsumi City.
Her breath caught.
“What does this mean…?”
