Chapter 12: Bullying…?

“Alright, this will be on the test, so make sure you remember it.”

You might hear something like that during class from time to time. I’m currently hearing it right now.

Incidentally, I always make sure to remember the parts that will be on the test.

Not to get a high score, though—quite the opposite. I remember them to lower my score.

Back in middle school, I studied just enough, took the test, and ended up with a perfect score.

However since I’ve decided to live a modest life, I have to keep my scores average…!! It’s hard to live a simple life…

The chime rang, signaling the end of class. Since that was the sixth period, today’s classes were over.

“Hey, Big Sis! I’m heading home first today!”

“Oh? How come?”

Kaori came over to my desk and gave a little salute.

“Well, I thought I’d finally get around to reading that novel today.”

“I see, I see. So you didn’t get to it yesterday after all.”

I spoke to Kaori with a cheerful expression. Her face quickly grew pale.

“I totally dug my own grave!”

“See you tomorrow…”

I waved as I watched Kaori dash out of the classroom. I also started packing my textbooks into my bag and was about to leave when one of the girls spoke to me.

“Hey… come to the back of the school building later.”

It was the classmate who had clicked her tongue at me yesterday.

“…Sure.”

“Good. Then it’s settled.”

Hmm… So it’s come to this, huh? Well, I kind of expected it.

That girl often hung around with Kaori, so she probably doesn’t think too highly of me.

“Fumino-chaaaaan! We’ve got library duty today too, so could you come, please?!”

The classroom door burst open, and Mayuki-chan came running over to me. By the way, Mayuki-chan’s two ‘bombs’ were bouncing up and down along with her bra.

“I can make it today. But I have a little errand to run first… so could you wait?”

I said as I patted Mayuki-chan’s head.

Yurizono didn’t notice, but Mayuki’s face was turning bright red.

“Y-yeah… I’ll wait, I’ll wait as long as it takes!!”

“Eh? Uh, okay…”

I didn’t expect such a strong response, and I was so surprised that I let out a weird noise.

I left the classroom and headed toward the back of the school building as instructed.

“Well, yeah.”

I made it to the back of the school building, and before I knew it, there were a few girls around me, surrounding me. I could feel their strong intent to not let me escape.

Well, I’m not the type to run or hide — I’ll just face them head-on…!

“I’ll get straight to the point…”

As the girl who had clicked her tongue at me yesterday spoke, the atmosphere around the other girls seemed to change.

They were probably about to make their move. While it might be easier in the long run to just let myself be bullied or beaten up, that’s not who I am.

Losing my individuality means losing my future. I refuse to call a future I don’t want my own! No matter how much I’m tormented or bullied, I’ll stay true to myself! I don’t want to become a boring person without any personality!

In the next instant, the girls around me all moved at once.

“!”

I braced myself, ready for whatever they would do.

“Please let us start a Yurizono-san fan club!!”

All the girls bowed at a 90-degree angle and extended their right arms toward me.

“…Huh?”

It was so unexpected that I let out another strange noise in surprise.
