Chapter 94: Meeting The “Wives”
After much deliberation, Ye Xiao ultimately rejected sister Tongzi’s suggestion.
After all, she had already entangled herself with so many women in ambiguous relationships, and hiding the truth irresponsibly was something she despised the most in this life.
If there was one thing Ye Xiao hated above all, it was deceit.
Once trust was broken due to deception, even the strongest relationships could collapse entirely.
Ye Xiao didn’t want such a thing to happen.
If there were any older sisters among them who couldn’t accept the shared existence of other women and decided to end their unclear relationship with her, Ye Xiao wouldn’t argue.
After all, she believed she should bear the consequences of her actions. Even if this led some of them to develop resentment toward her and inadvertently bolstered the luck of those so-called “children of destiny,” it would be her own fault.
After careful consideration, Ye Xiao accepted each of their invitations.
She arranged for all of them to meet at the same location, except for Jiang Mengwei, whom she decided to meet separately. Jiang Mengwei wasn’t yet one of her intimate companions, so involving her in this kind of gathering would inevitably be awkward.
At 5:30 PM, the biting wind seeped through her clothing, no matter how tightly it was wrapped.
Ye Xiao pushed open the door of a café and chose a seat with a clear view of the agreed-upon meeting spot. She exhaled into her palms for warmth and rubbed them together vigorously.
“This weather… It’s really freezing!”
Today was Christmas Eve, and the heavens, as if showing off, had begun sprinkling snowflakes once more onto the barely thawed ground.
“Excuse me, little miss, what would you like to drink?”
Ye Xiao had just sat down when a waitress approached her with a polite smile.
“Hmm, a cappuccino will do,” she replied.
She had never been a fan of coffee’s bitterness, but cappuccinos were rumored to be the sweetest of coffees. That made them more suitable for someone like her.
“Got it, little miss!”
The waitress took her order and headed to the counter.
The café was sparsely populated with couples seated here and there, likely drawn in by the festive atmosphere.
Ye Xiao couldn’t help but compare these women to her own “wives,” finding none of them remotely as attractive.
Moreover, tonight, these women would likely fall victim to the Apple of Eve’s fate. She wondered maliciously who among them would ultimately end up marrying whom.
Before long, a cappuccino was placed in front of her. The foam on top bore a heart-shaped latte art.
Though it wasn’t as intricate as the latte art she’d seen in her past life, Ye Xiao felt no need to demand perfection from a small café like this. At least the barista had done their job diligently.
She carefully lifted the cup and took a sip, only to immediately retract her tongue—it was still too hot.
A few minutes later, Ye Xiao spotted a figure through the café’s glass window. The person, wrapped in a trench coat and scarf, walked gracefully toward the designated meeting spot.
That silhouette—it had to be Su Ruoxue.
Taking out her phone, Ye Xiao wasn’t surprised when a message popped up moments later.
“Ye Xiao, I’m here. When will you arrive?”
As expected, it was Su Ruoxue.
Ye Xiao silently praised her own talent for recognizing people by their backs.
“Wow, the small fry big sister is in such a rush to go on a date with me? Sister Su Ruoxue’s thoughts are so easy to guess~” she thought mischievously.
Ye Xiao sent a brief reply before tucking her phone back into her pocket.
After all, she’d soon face the ultimate showdown with five beautiful women. For now, a little teasing would give her a fleeting sense of satisfaction—because soon enough, she wouldn’t be laughing at all.
Su Ruoxue, who received Ye Xiao’s message, looked around for her but couldn’t spot her. She then lowered her head and started typing a follow-up message. However, Ye Xiao had no intention of checking her phone.
Before long, the second arrival made her entrance. It was Shen Yunchu, her expression hurried. Originally, she had planned to leave the company together with Ye Xiao and go straight to the date. There shouldn’t have been any need for a designated meeting spot. However, Ye Xiao had slipped away quietly while she was busy.
Shen Yunchu looked a little exasperated. But since Ye Xiao was the boss, she could go wherever she pleased, especially when she didn’t feel like staying at the company.
Unlike her usual office look in a fitted pencil skirt, Shen Yunchu had swapped into jeans and a short Milan-colored down jacket. She appeared flustered, as if worried about being late, though there were still 20 minutes before the agreed-upon time.
Seeing Shen Yunchu suddenly appear, Su Ruoxue’s expression froze for a moment.
“Why are you here?”
“I should be asking you that—why are you here?”
The two stared at each other in surprise. This was supposed to be a meeting spot arranged with Ye Xiao, yet now they’d run into another woman who seemed like one of Ye Xiao’s “girlfriends.”
Both Su Ruoxue and Shen Yunchu looked awkward.
“I’m waiting for someone,” Su Ruoxue said, frowning slightly. She didn’t elaborate further and simply resumed sitting on the bench, waiting for Ye Xiao to appear.
Shen Yunchu let out a soft “oh…” and nodded, silently hoping this was just a coincidence and that Su Ruoxue was waiting for someone else.
At that moment, another figure appeared in Ye Xiao’s field of vision. This one was dressed in a coat, with legs swaying as she walked, clad in black stockings.
It was Lu Shiqing. She hadn’t had time to change outfits and had simply thrown on a coat before hurrying over.
As Lu Shiqing appeared, the expressions on Su Ruoxue’s and Shen Yunchu’s faces grew even more peculiar. This was starting to look less and less like a coincidence.
Could it be that Ye Xiao had invited everyone here at the same time? If that were the case, then all of these women likely had unclear relationships with Ye Xiao.
Shen Yunchu mulled over the possibility.
Meanwhile, Su Ruoxue’s expression turned even stranger as she saw her close friend arrive. She didn’t believe that Ye Xiao, that little scoundrel, could have won over her best friend. But Lu Shiqing’s presence here, coupled with Shen Yunchu’s earlier arrival, seemed to confirm the suspicion that everyone here had a date with Ye Xiao.
“Ruoxue?” Lu Shiqing called out as she approached the bench, looking puzzled at seeing Su Ruoxue sitting there.
But soon, as if realizing something, she fell silent.
After all, the reason she’d met Ye Xiao in the first place was because of Su Ruoxue’s introduction.
If not for that, she might never have known Ye Xiao, let alone ended up in bed with her.
But what was done was done. She had already decided to take responsibility for Ye Xiao.
As a career woman, she wouldn’t allow herself to be overshadowed by Ye Xiao. That passionate night had been an unintentional but wonderful accident. In the future, she was confident she could regain the upper hand.
Without hesitation, Lu Shiqing pulled Su Ruoxue aside and whispered something in her ear. Whatever she said left Su Ruoxue looking conflicted, but she nodded reluctantly.
Now Lu Shiqing understood everything.
She bit her lip in frustration, determined to confront Ye Xiao face-to-face.
However, just then, Li Mengyue and Jiang Qingyue appeared in the distance, walking hand in hand.
Seeing yet another pair arrive, Lu Shiqing clenched her fists. She was determined to find out just how many women were entangled with Ye Xiao.
