Chapter 80: Playing Dumb
Ye Xiao didn’t make any big movements, afraid of waking the two older sisters lying beside her. The situation they were in was already unbearably awkward, and it was clear whoever woke up first would end up stuck between the other two, dying of embarrassment.
As the first to wake, Ye Xiao naturally took the opportunity to discreetly admire the two older sisters’ elegant and graceful figures.
Just then, Li Mengyue stirred slightly, seemingly about to wake.
It wasn’t that Ye Xiao didn’t want to take responsibility—it’s just that after having just made a move on Li Mengyue earlier, then getting involved with her best friend last night, it seemed a bit… indecent. Hastily, Ye Xiao lay back down, shutting her eyes tightly.
She adopted the posture of someone deeply asleep, hoping to feign ignorance and pass the blame to the fog of sleep. However, a thrill of nervousness coursed through her, as if she might be caught red-handed at any moment.
Her heart raced uncontrollably, and no matter how she tried, she couldn’t calm it. Even her breathing betrayed her, uneven and jittery with tension.
This feeling, oddly enough, would likely be exactly the sort of thing Li Mengyue enjoyed most—she’d certainly understand the rush of it all.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Li Mengyue woke up. She unconsciously sat up, the blanket sliding down to reveal a tantalizing sight.
Pressing her temples to soothe her lingering hangover, Li Mengyue groaned. Clearly, she had drunk too much last night, her head throbbed, and her body felt uncomfortably heavy and sore.
Faint fragments of memory came to her—dreams of wrestling with someone, over and over, until she was utterly exhausted.
“Qingyue~” she called out, her voice groggy.
Jiang Qingyue, still deeply asleep, didn’t respond. Ye Xiao, meanwhile, kept her eyes shut tightly, her nerves wound tight.
Ye Xiao could tell that Li Mengyue harbored feelings for her—she’d seen it in her eyes. As for the vengeance last night that had left Ye Xiao in such a sorry state, it was clearly a manifestation of Li Mengyue’s competitive streak.
She simply couldn’t stand the thought of being dominated by Ye Xiao, a girl.
But no matter how much affection Li Mengyue might feel, it wouldn’t excuse what happened last night—not when her best friend had been dragged into it.
At that moment, Ye Xiao was utterly spent, both physically and mentally.
“Qingyue, I’m calling you—why aren’t you answering?”
Li Mengyue absentmindedly nudged the body beside her, not realizing it was Ye Xiao.
Ye Xiao felt the push, and a jolt of electric tension coursed through her. She nearly threw off the blanket and leapt up but barely managed to hold herself back.
In her heart, Ye Xiao was adamant she wasn’t to blame. After all, the two older sisters had crossed the line first—whatever happened after that was their own fault.
What Ye Xiao really wanted to see was the moment both of them woke up and realized what had happened, their bewildered, defensive, and maybe even flustered reactions.
Li Mengyue, seeing no response, finally turned to look. That’s when she noticed not one but two people in bed with her.
She glanced down at her own body, her expression shifting to one of sheer disbelief.
Her delicate face flushed red, overcome with embarrassment and anger. Memories of what had happened slowly came back to her.
She’d intended to teach Ye Xiao a lesson, to make her a more “faithful” girl. How had it all spiraled so wildly out of control?
“Ye Xiao! Get up!”
Li Mengyue demanded, her voice low and trembling with emotion as she gave Ye Xiao a harder push.
Ye Xiao, who had been hoping to enjoy the show, was caught off guard. She hadn’t expected Li Mengyue to call her out first.
This was new territory for Ye Xiao, despite her many experiences with other girls. But there was no escaping it—what needed to be faced had to be faced.
Summoning her years of expertise in dealing with tricky situations, Ye Xiao opened her eyes groggily and pretended to be confused.
“Hmm? Big sister Mengyue, what’s up?” she murmured, feigning innocence.
“You’ve got some nerve asking me that!”
Li Mengyue shot back, pointing to the still-sleeping Jiang Qingyue beside her.
“What the hell did you do to us last night? Was one girl not enough for you? You had to go for both?”
“What do you mean, both?”
Ye Xiao responded, putting on her best clueless expression before glancing over at Jiang Qingyue. She sat up abruptly, her face a perfect mask of astonishment.
“Big sister Mengyue, why is she next to me?”
Not waiting for Li Mengyue to reply, Ye Xiao added with an accusatory look,
“I mean, sure, I get it—you were lonely and needed some company. But bringing your best friend along? Isn’t that a bit much?”
Li Mengyue’s brow furrowed.
“You’ve got some imagination, don’t you?” she snapped.
Lowering her head, her tone turned more self-conscious.
“I don’t even remember what happened last night—I drank way too much.”
“Me neither,” Ye Xiao chimed in, her voice tinged with mock sadness.
Pretending to think hard, Ye Xiao suddenly said,
“Wait… I do remember a bit. That big sister over there kept drinking, started crying about how hard her life is making videos, and wouldn’t stop kissing me.”
“She kissed you? That much I know,” Li Mengyue said irritably.
“But since I invited her over to help, I just put up with it. That’s just how she is—drink too much, cry, and cling to anyone nearby.”
Looking at the messy sheets, Li Mengyue felt a wave of frustration. Sure, she could accept being with Ye Xiao herself, but now her best friend was involved too? What kind of mess was this?
Ye Xiao, however, felt equally wronged. She’d been the one bullied all night—her body bore the proof. Yet here she was being blamed!
Sometimes life really wasn’t fair.
