Chapter 6: The Food Turned Out To Be Herself
Seeing that things were beyond her control, Ye Xiao could only sigh.
She had even pleaded with the system, thinking that a system with seemingly emotional fluctuations might sympathize with her helplessness at having crossed into this world alone and provide her with some convenience.
But she never expected the system to be so cold.
Before drawing a ten-pull, Ye Xiao opened the system store to confirm the items she could pull. According to the system, anything in the store was fair game.
The store had a wide variety of items, from all sorts of skills like singing, dancing, rapping, playing basketball, cooking, acting, to writing novels!
As for superpowers or other modern magical abilities, she couldn’t find any after searching thoroughly.
And she still wanted to steal the luck of a “child of destiny”?
Fortunately, her current target was Gu Tingyuan, a domineering CEO. If she had encountered some other reincarnated dragon king or an urban rebirth protagonist, wouldn’t she have been crushed underfoot?
“This system isn’t much either, huh? Not even a superpower. You’re really a trash system! Trash ~ Trash ~ ❤️~”
Gu Tingyuan might tolerate Ye Xiao’s arrogance, but the system would not.
It had already warned Ye Xiao once, yet she remained unrepentant.
The system sighed inwardly. Ye Xiao was good in every way, but why did she have to be such a mesugaki?
Others faced their systems with reverence, even treating them like adopted fathers or at least with respect. But Ye Xiao? Not only was she arrogant toward others, she was even this brazen toward her own system.
Today, the system was determined to fix this mesugaki’s behavior!
“Host, I’ve seriously warned you before to mind your words and actions, but it seems you remain stubborn!”
“Wait… System, I was wrong…”
Unfortunately, this time the system didn’t give Ye Xiao much time to apologize. It decisively placed a buff on her, stripping her of her ability to think.
In an instant, Ye Xiao’s pupils dilated, and the next moment, they turned into heart shapes.
She had become a “zombie”, acting only on instinct and doing whatever she liked best.
Ye Xiao was now a “mesugaki zombie”!
If she had stayed alone in the living room, curled up on the sofa, no problems would have arisen. She would just have to endure the system’s punishment.
But, just then, a bedroom door suddenly swung open.
From within, a girl wearing white pajamas peeked half her body out of the room.
Her expression, perhaps from just waking up or due to the noise Ye Xiao and the delivery person had made earlier, showed a hint of weariness and annoyance through the black-framed glasses.
Her shoulder-length black hair was styled in cute princess curls, and her delicate features made her immediately likable.
This was Shen Yunchu, Ye Xiao’s roommate. They had been university classmates, and because of Ye Xiao’s small stature, she often encountered trouble.
Shen Yunchu’s presence had saved Ye Xiao from a lot of unnecessary difficulties during their time in college, so they had a good relationship.
In their fourth year, Ye Xiao said she could help Shen Yunchu easily obtain an internship certificate, so Shen had followed her from the capital to live in Binhai City.
“Ye Xiao? You’re back? Where did you go last night without inviting me? Did you bring me any breakfast?”
The girl pouted, scanning the living room in confusion when she didn’t see Ye Xiao, before walking toward the fridge.
Opening the fridge, Shen Yunchu found it stuffed full with takeout boxes.
Faced with so much good food, freshly awake, she didn’t know where to start.
“Xiao Xiao, are you here?”
She called out again, but still received no response.
“’If you don’t answer, I’m going to eat all the food you brought back ~”
However, as she stood facing the fridge with her back to the living room, Shen Yunchu had no idea of the danger looming behind her.
She took a piece of walnut cheese bread from a box and stuffed it into her mouth.
The creamy sweetness instantly filled her taste buds, and the combination of walnuts and cashews became more flavorful with each chew.
Enveloped by this sense of bliss, Shen Yunchu felt that moving to Binhai City with Ye Xiao was the best decision she’d made this year.
Ye Xiao’s family was much better off than Shen Yunchu’s, so whenever Ye Xiao came home, she would often bring takeout, and it was always far superior to what Shen normally ate.
Shen Yunchu wasn’t the type to feel resentful that Ye Xiao was sharing leftovers, in fact, she enjoyed it.
The only downside was that Ye Xiao often called her “Trash Big Sister ~”
‘Trash~ Trash~❤️~ Trash~ Sister Yunchu~’
Yes, that’s exactly what she called her! Shen Yunchu thought to herself.
“Oh, Xiao Xiao, you’re home? I thought you weren’t here!”
Shen Yunchu, oblivious to Ye Xiao’s odd behavior, headed straight toward the sofa, as Ye Xiao often behaved like this. Today, however, her expression seemed a bit more… off, with a strange, sultry vibe.
“No sultriness allowed~”
Shen Yunchu teased in her mind, convinced that Ye Xiao wouldn’t do anything to her.
Little did she know that a giant “DANGER” sign was figuratively flashing above her head.
Still unaware, Shen Yunchu sat on the sofa and picked up another piece of walnut cheese bread, ready to enjoy a brief moment of dessert bliss.
The next second, Ye Xiao grabbed her hand.
Shen Yunchu, still holding the bread she hadn’t yet eaten, struggled to free her arm, but today Ye Xiao’s strength was surprisingly overpowering.
She tried several times but couldn’t break free.
Their eyes met, and Shen Yunchu shivered at the sight of Ye Xiao’s heart-shaped pupils. She instinctively clenched her legs together, sensing that something was wrong.
“Trash Sister~ You’re really trash~ Trash~❤️~”
In that moment, Shen Yunchu felt a twinge of fear, a stark contrast to her usual frustration when Ye Xiao teased her.
Meanwhile, Ye Xiao, seemingly unconcerned, began kneading the dough that Shen Yunchu had prepared earlier for their lunch.
Kneading dough is a skill, and it directly affects whether the noodles for lunch will have the right texture!
“Chu❤️~”
Before Shen Yunchu could react, Ye Xiao made a strange sound and pushed her down onto the sofa.
Mmm ~ it smells like milk ~
The living room was too cramped, and the two of them squeezed together on the sofa felt too tight.
But by now, Ye Xiao wasn’t about to let Shen Yunchu reposition herself.
The sudden change in situation caught Shen Yunchu completely off guard.
She had been happily enjoying the food Ye Xiao brought home, only to find out in the end that the food… was her.
