Chapter 26
Chapter 26: You’re Sure I Won’t Lose Money, Right?
“How could it be! Xiao Xiao, you don’t actually think I still like that guy, do you?”
Ye Youran shot a firm, resolute look at Ye Xiao.
If it weren’t for the bits about her trashy older sister in Su Ruoxue’s fate path, Ye Xiao might have actually believed her.
“It better be like that, Trashy Sister!”
“The truth is, the reason I went abroad to study back then wasn’t because I dumped Gu Tingyuan. It was actually because he dumped me, which is why I left Binhai so decisively!”
Seeing Ye Xiao’s obvious disbelief, Ye Youran revealed the hidden truth of the past.
“But somehow, everyone believed it was me who dumped him. Some junior sister from the same school even called me to yell at me using the number listed in the school directory, which is why I ended up changing my contact information to cut ties with Gu Tingyuan completely. Lately, though, he somehow got ahold of my new number.”
Seeing the irritation on her sister’s face, it was clear she really didn’t like Gu Tingyuan anymore.
Then, what was all that scheming by the previous Ye Xiao even for?
Ye Xiao thought back carefully. In the original memories, her older sister Ye Youran had never asked her to do those things.
Every plot against Su Ruoxue had been orchestrated solely by the original Ye Xiao, without Ye Youran’s involvement.
Ye Xiao narrowed her eyes, sensing a major deviation in the plot she had anticipated for Trashy Sister’s return.
This feeling of fate spiraling out of her control wasn’t pleasant. However, since Ye Youran no longer liked Gu Tingyuan, it was actually a big relief.
Now she didn’t have to worry about her sister getting tangled up with Gu Tingyuan.
But why was reality developing differently from the predetermined fate path, yet Sister System hadn’t alerted her to any weakening in Gu Tingyuan’s fortune?
Without dwelling on it, Ye Xiao shifted her focus back to making money.
After all, success comes from one’s own hard work!
The reason Ye Xiao hadn’t chosen to start as a plagiarist was that her situation was quite different from those who typically went down that route.
Most transmigrators who resorted to copying novels were either financially weak or even in debt and needed a quick income stream.
Writing novels could offer that, as long as the quality was good and updates were frequent. By repurposing known stories, one could build up a decent initial fund.
But Ye Xiao didn’t need that initial fund.
“So, Trashy Sister, let’s get back to that investment discussion! You’re almost 30 years old now. Don’t you have any ambitions for your career? Or are you still planning to hang out with your girlfriends tonight? All the other Trashy Sisters are either married by now or have stable careers. Meanwhile, you’re here with neither a boyfriend nor a job. People might say you’re an overseas returnee, but in reality, you’re just an aging leftover woman with nothing to show for it~”
“Right now, I have a one-of-a-kind investment opportunity. Miss it, and it’ll be gone. Don’t tell me, Trashy Sister, that you don’t even have the guts to hand over that 1 million and take a chance?”
Ye Youran’s brow twitched. Her resume could easily get her labeled a top-tier returnee, and her younger sister dared to call her an aging leftover?
This younger sister of hers, while excellent, was as sharp-tongued as ever. After three years, she’d nearly forgotten that. Hearing it now, she felt a sudden urge to smack someone.
“Ye Xiao, is this how you pitch investments? At this rate, anyone who considered investing would back out after hearing your pitch. Can’t you try to improve your attitude? And, how did you know I even had 1 million?”
“Huh? Who could ever refuse to invest in the world’s number-one beauty like me? There are countless investors out there, if one backs out, another will step in. Missing out on my project would be the loss of these short-sighted trash! And Trashy Sister, who do you think I am? Don’t underestimate my intel network!”
Ye Xiao suddenly straightened up, placing her hands on her knees.
The original Ye Xiao wasn’t a good person, but she didn’t have wasteful habits, either.
Both sisters had the habit of saving up dowries.
All their New Year money from childhood had gone into savings.
Ye Youran might look trendy, but that luxury handbag of hers was the only one she’d ever bought. It had hurt her so much to buy it that she treated it like a treasure, only taking it out on special occasions.
Seeing her sister carrying that same bag today, Ye Xiao knew she was still the same.
Over more than 20 years, Ye Xiao had saved around 300,000 yuan after daily expenses and pocket money.
Ye Youran’s savings must be at least as much, if not more.
Plus, their father had promised to give both daughters a 300,000 yuan once they got their Driver’s Licenses to buy a car.
Ye Youran had received hers long ago, but she didn’t buy a car during university, then went abroad afterward.
So, knowing her, that 300,000 yuan must still be lying in her account.
On top of that, Ye Xiao remembered that Ye Youran and a friend had opened a bubble tea shop with Gu Tingyuan’s help during university. The place was popular enough to become a chain, and Ye Youran still got dividends from it. Ye Xiao estimated she must have saved at least another 200,000–300,000 yuan from it.
Their parents had covered all her living expenses abroad, and she received a generous allowance.
One time, when both her parents were busy, they had asked Ye Xiao to help transfer her sister’s monthly allowance, which turned out to be $10,000.
So, her sister’s savings likely exceeded a million.
“So, Xiao Xiao, you’re really confident in this project of yours?”
“Of course! Trashy Sister, are you sure you won’t invest?”
This was her first step in countering the Child of Destiny. If she failed, given System Sister’s capricious ways, she’d likely become a pawn in someone else’s destiny.
“Well, since you’re so insistent, I’ll support my little sister’s venture as an older sister should!”
With that, Ye Youran took out her phone, opened her banking app, and typed in a seven-figure sum starting with “1”.
Before she entered the password, though, she hesitated and held her phone tightly. “Xiao Xiao, you’re sure I won’t lose money, right…?”
She felt a bit uneasy. After all, this million was everything she’d saved up over the past 2o years.
