Chapter 22
Chapter 22: Where’s My Sea-Turtle White Lotus?
In the December of Binhai City, the air was crisp and cold.
On the airplane, a thin layer of frost had formed around the small round window due to the temperature difference.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the plane is about to land at Binhai International Airport. The current outside temperature is 6°C. The plane is taxiing, so please remain seated and refrain from opening the overhead compartments for your and others’ safety. After the plane has come to a complete stop, please unfasten your seatbelt and prepare to collect your carry-on items.”
Watching as the ground below gradually drew nearer, the woman took off her headphones.
With a gentle tremor of the plane, a long journey had finally come to an end.
As the cabin door slowly opened, a beam of light cut through the exhaustion of the journey, welcoming an extraordinary traveler.
She descended the airplane’s steps with graceful steps, as if she were a messenger descending from the clouds.
“Binhai City! After three years, I, Ye Youran, have finally returned!”
Taking in deep breaths of the fresh air that was nothing like the stuffiness inside the cabin, Ye Youran opened her arms, embracing this familiar land once more.
She wore an elegant, minimalist dress, its hemline swaying subtly with her steps, exuding a kind of effortless charm.
The dress was a soft champagne color, both noble and approachable, perfectly accentuating her graceful demeanor.
Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders like a waterfall, strands dancing lightly in the breeze, emitting a faint fragrance.
Her face was exquisite, with well-defined features, and her bright eyes sparkled with intelligence. There was no trace of fatigue from the journey, only calm and poise.
Her skin was snow-white and radiant, making one unable to help but take a second look.
Each step Ye Youran took echoed crisply as her high heels clicked against the airport floor, exuding confidence and elegance.
In her hand, she carried a small designer handbag, understated yet tasteful.
Following her return to the country, scattered passengers disembarked and made their way to the baggage claim area. Many searching for their own luggage found their gazes drawn to her.
Some whispered softly, while others admired her in silence.
At this moment, Ye Youran was undoubtedly the most radiant sight in the airport.
Finding her luggage, a metallic-finished suitcase that wasn’t large, she retrieved it from the conveyor with one hand.
With her luggage in tow, she headed toward the arrivals area.
At the arrival gate, a crowd surged, emotions of anticipation and reunion interweaving in the air.
In this bustling yet warm scene, a petite figure in a cute, well-behaved dress, with white stockings snugly clinging to her calves, stood out despite being hard to spot in the crowd.
She looked slightly exasperated, as the number of people waiting was overwhelming. Even standing on tiptoe, she couldn’t see any further.
The petite girl was Ye Xiao, who, following her mother Liu Yun’s orders, had come to the airport.
Her sister, Ye Youran, was returning to this land of memories after a long period of overseas study.
Ye Xiao slouched against a pillar at the airport with a sign in hand, looking quite lackadaisical.
According to what her mom had said, before boarding, Ye Youran was already informed that Ye Xiao would be picking her up.
This was the part Ye Xiao found most puzzling. Even if she had a close bond with Ye Youran, she was undoubtedly the least suitable person to come for this task.
Just the fact that she couldn’t drive was enough of a headache. Due to her height, Liu Yun had always refused to let her get a driver’s license.
The real trouble, however, started when Ye Xiao began wandering through the airport, looking for Ye Youran’s arrival gate, holding a sign that read, “Welcome, Fishy Sister ❤️~ Welcome Home!”
Several times, airport staff mistook her for a lost child and approached her with questions.
At first, she had the patience to explain, but eventually, she gave up, pulling out her ID card and hanging it on her chest.
Even with that, a few Fishy~ security guards still didn’t believe her and wanted to escort her to a safe area.
So, Ye Xiao completely gave up. Whether or not Ye Youran would find her would be left to fate.
Ye Xiao only wanted to say that a mature fishy sister should know how to find her own pickup person.
Who knows how long had passed before a radiant figure appeared at the gate.
Dragging her suitcase, Ye Youran elegantly navigated through the crowd, her bright eyes scanning for a familiar face.
Ye Xiao, however, didn’t make any effort to catch her attention, idly scrolling on her phone. Today, she’d downloaded a game that was supposedly all the rage worldwide.
But her experience with it was terrible—microtransactions were everywhere. Aside from the elaborate artwork of oily “senior sisters” that made you want to lick the screen, it was completely useless.
Not even the typical ten-pull feature from mobile games in her previous life existed here. To get rare characters, you had to purchase them directly, and free resources were scarce.
Ye Xiao couldn’t understand how such a trashy game became popular enough to stay at the top of the charts for so long.
Just then, a shadow appeared before Ye Xiao. This person, with a smile on her lips, glanced at the crooked sign resting against the wall and turned her gaze to Ye Xiao, who was staring at her phone.
When her sister wasn’t speaking, she was as adorable as ever, almost tempting one to reach out and pinch her soft, slightly chubby cheeks.
And so, Ye Youran acted on her impulse.
Setting her handbag atop the suitcase’s handle, she extended her slender hand.
“Ah! Who dares to sneak-attack me, you fiendish fishy?”
Ye Xiao reacted quickly. The moment she saw that hand, she moved, but not fast enough. Ye Youran had already pinched her cheek.
With a trace of annoyance, Ye Xiao looked up, only to see the smiling face of “Su Ruoxue” standing before her, staring at her with barely concealed amusement.
“Ru… Fishy Sister~ When did you come out? I didn’t see you at all.”
After a second of thought, Ye Xiao finally realized that the person before her was not Su Ruoxue but Ye Youran.
Buried memories of Ye Youran gradually surfaced in Ye Xiao’s mind. The resemblance between Ye Youran and Su Ruoxue was so striking.
If they stood side by side, no one would believe they weren’t related or twin sisters.
Yet, Ye Youran’s expression and demeanor were nothing like the white lotus Saintess that Ye Xiao imagined!
Where’s my sea-turtle white lotus? Did I open this situation wrong?
“Come on! Let big sis give you a hug! Three years have passed, yet you’re still the same as when I left, Xiao Xiao. You haven’t grown a bit!”
Ye Youran bent down with open arms, ready to pull Ye Xiao into a big hug.
