Chapter 5: Why is She Here!?
Li Yitong slightly tilted her head, catching a glimpse of Su Li’s expression—akin to a startled kitten. A glimmer of amusement flashed in her eyes as she asked, “What’s wrong, Teacher Su?”
“N-Nothing.”
Su Li gently shook her head and continued to follow Li Yitong. The remainder of their tour was uneventful, consisting of visits to various areas around the school.
It had to be said, Li Yitong was impressively responsible. She made sure to show Su Li every place that might come to mind.
Eventually, the two arrived at the office door.
If Su Li remembered correctly, this would be her future office—specifically, the seat right next to Li Yitong. That spot was enviable enough to make countless male teachers green with jealousy.
But Su Li had no intention of giving up such a prime “feng shui seat.”
However, now that she thought about it, sitting next to Li Yitong would mean she’d need to be extra cautious with her behavior at school—especially since Li Yitong might be a reincarnator.
Li Yitong looked at Su Li thoughtfully. If nothing unexpected happened, Su Li’s desk would indeed be beside hers, giving her ample time to observe Su Li.
The female version of Su Li? Life was bound to get interesting.
While Su Li’s thoughts wandered, Li Yitong smiled warmly and said, “I’ve introduced most of the school already. If there’s anything else you’re unsure of, feel free to ask me anytime.”
“I think I’ve got the basics down. Thank you so much for the trouble, Teacher Li.”
“Oh, it’s no trouble. But I must admit, after walking so much, my legs feel a bit sore, and my throat’s a little dry. Wouldn’t it be nice to sit down for a drink and chat for a bit~?”
“Huh?!”
Su Li froze for a moment but quickly caught on. The implication was as clear as day—if she didn’t get it, she’d have to be completely tone-deaf.
It was just an invitation for a drink. That was no big deal.
Still, Su Li found herself puzzled. Since when had Li Yitong been so forward? Was it because of her current appearance? After all, she now looked like an adorable, super-cute girl. Before her reincarnation, she was a rugged man, so perhaps that explained the different attitude?
Or… was it because Li Yitong was a reincarnator and wanted to probe further?
Both possibilities seemed plausible, but Su Li wasn’t one to back down. A drink and a chat? Bring it on!
“Alright, Teacher Li, let me treat you to something.”
“Sure~” Li Yitong responded without hesitation.
The two exited the school gate. Su Li, after a brief mental recollection, remembered Li Yitong’s drink preferences. Some things could be forgotten, but when it came to women’s likes and dislikes, Su Li never let those slip. It was a matter of principle.
Near the school, there were plenty of bubble tea shops, but Li Yitong wasn’t a fan of bubble tea. She preferred the mixed coffee from a certain café, even if it was a bit far.
Decision made, Su Li coughed lightly and said, “Teacher Li, since I moved here, I’ve discovered a nice café. It’s a bit far, though. How about we go there?”
“No problem. It’s a good chance to chat with Teacher Su on the way.”
As she spoke, Li Yitong grabbed her umbrella and walked alongside Su Li, thoughtfully shielding her from the blazing sun.
Her face still carried a radiant smile, but the moment Su Li mentioned the café, a thought crossed her mind. If Su Li led her to that café and ordered that mixed coffee… well, that would be intriguing.
For now, she decided not to dwell on it too much. Once they arrived, she would know.
As they strolled down the road, Li Yitong casually chatted with Su Li about general topics, like two new acquaintances feeling each other out. Nothing too deep, just light conversation.
Su Li responded flawlessly. Though not perfect, her answers were careful enough to avoid raising suspicions.
Even so, Su Li couldn’t shake the feeling that Li Yitong’s casual chatter was, in fact, a deliberate attempt to probe her. Was it just her imagination?
Hopefully, it was just that—a baseless worry.
“We’re here.”
Su Li gestured toward the café, which bore the name Leblanc. It offered coffee and desserts, but no curry or phantom thieves. When Su Li first discovered it, she was startled by the name. Over time, though, she got used to it.
Li Yitong glanced at the café and said softly, “This place is pretty out of the way. It’s impressive that Teacher Su found it~.”
“Oh, I just stumbled across it while wandering. This is only my second visit.”
Li Yitong smiled faintly and followed Su Li inside.
“Welcome.”
The greeting came from a somewhat scruffy middle-aged man whose disheveled appearance contrasted sharply with the exquisite coffee and desserts he prepared.
Bringing a girl here? Excellent choice.
Women having “two stomachs” wasn’t a joke—this was wisdom Su Li had picked up over time.
The café wasn’t large, and there weren’t many patrons. Su Li picked a table seemingly at random, though it was, in fact, a spot she’d frequented in her past life.
Her choice of seat didn’t escape Li Yitong’s notice. Whether it was the café itself or this specific table, she couldn’t help but wonder: Was it a coincidence or something more?
For now, she decided to reserve judgment.
Su Li scanned the menu, comparing it to the one from five years later. Not much had changed, though a few desserts were missing.
“Teacher Li, see if there’s anything you’d like.”
Li Yitong glanced at the menu Su Li handed her but didn’t take it. Instead, she asked softly, “Does Teacher Su have any recommendations?”
“Recommendations? Well, it’s my first time here too, but I read online that the mixed coffee is highly praised. How about we get two of those and a strawberry mousse?”
“Sounds good.”
After placing the order, Su Li subtly shifted her focus to Li Yitong, who appeared genuinely unfamiliar with the café—no trace of recognition or suspicion.
Of course, that didn’t entirely rule out the possibility that her acting was flawless.
Noticing Su Li’s gaze, Li Yitong raised an eyebrow and asked, “Um, Teacher Su, is there something wrong with me?”
“N-No, not at all! I was just admiring how great your skin is, Teacher Li. What skincare products do you use?” Su Li deftly steered the conversation into classic “girl talk.”
Truth be told, Su Li could rattle off the pros and cons of countless skincare and cosmetic brands. Knowing such things was essential for giving gifts—or charming women.
Li Yitong, unfazed, listed several products and offered her thoughts on each. Su Li nodded thoughtfully, nearly pulling out a notebook to jot them down.
Just then, the café door opened with a clear chime.
In walked a stunning girl with delicate features, flowing black hair, and a graceful figure wrapped in a black dress.
She was beautiful, yes, but icy—a cold aura radiated from her, even from afar.
After scanning the room, her gaze landed squarely on Su Li.
“Why is she here?!”
