Chapter 29: The Mantis Stalks The Cicada, Unaware of The Oriole Behind
“I’ve changed.”
Su Li opened the door and walked out of the fitting room. She was now wearing a white dress—light, airy, and far too drafty below for her liking, giving her a distinct sense of insecurity.
Just how many dresses had she tried on by now? Su Li had already lost count.
All she knew was that ever since stepping into this store, she’d been changing outfits nonstop. She felt like Li Yitong was treating her like she was some kind of Nuan Nuan dress-up doll.
“This one looks really good too. It suits you, Xiao Li,” Li Yitong said with a satisfied nod. She had to admit, dressing Su Li in all kinds of outfits really was a delightful experience.
If Su Li truly was a reincarnator, then she must be feeling quite happy right now—getting to wear women’s clothes openly and all~
Watching Su Li head back into the fitting room with yet another outfit in hand, a mischievous smirk played on Li Yitong’s lips. Even if Su Li wasn’t a reincarnator, just imagining that she was made the whole thing incredibly entertaining~
Meanwhile, inside the fitting room, Su Li suddenly froze. When she went to undress, she realized that the zipper on her back had gotten stuck. She couldn’t believe something this ridiculous was actually happening.
It felt like the universe was out to get her.
After several failed attempts to fix it, Su Li carefully cracked the fitting room door open with just a sliver hint, peeking out with one eye to make sure Li Yitong was still there. Once confirmed, she whispered, “Yitong, can you come here for a moment?”
Li Yitong was taken aback for a second, but she quickly walked over to the fitting room door and asked, “What’s wrong? Don’t tell me… the zipper’s stuck?”
“…Yeah.”
Su Li was a little embarrassed, but given the situation, she had no choice but to rely on Li Yitong’s help.
To be honest, Li Yitong was also surprised. She’d only said it as a joke, and it turned out the zipper really had gotten stuck. How amusing was that?
Some unreadable emotion flickered in Li Yitong’s eyes as a thought passed through her mind.
Once she stepped into the fitting room, Su Li cautiously turned her back to her and stood in the corner. The zipper had indeed been pulled part way down and was visibly stuck. Li Yitong gave it a casual glance—yep, definitely jammed.
After fiddling with it briefly, Li Yitong managed to pull the zipper down, revealing Su Li’s smooth, snow-white back in full view.
On instinct, Li Yitong reached out and lightly trailed her fingers down Su Li’s back. The softness and delicacy of her skin left her almost reluctant to let go.
But while Li Yitong was enjoying herself, Su Li was not. As she felt those fingers glide across her spine, Su Li bit her lip lightly. The sensation was just too strange—if she hadn’t held back, she might’ve let out a sound just now.
“D-Don’t touch my back like that~” Su Li whispered, her voice barely audible.
Hearing Su Li’s voice, Li Yitong finally noticed that at some point, a faint blush had appeared on Su Li’s originally fair face, carrying a subtle air of allure. Coupled with that adorable little face of hers, it really stirred an impulse in people to… take things a little further.
Li Yitong was the type of person who acted on her thoughts. So once again, she gently traced a few strokes along Su Li’s back.
The motion made Su Li’s entire body tremble slightly. At this moment, she was beginning to suspect that Li Yitong might really be planning to do something to her right here in the fitting room!
But shortly after, Li Yitong stopped what she was doing and said, “Alright, I’ll stop playing. Little Li, hurry up and change so we can head out.”
With that, Li Yitong opened the door and stepped out of the fitting room. Su Li let out a long breath of relief. She already knew she was sensitive, but this sensitive? That was a bit much.
She was starting to worry that she was on the verge of turning into some kind of “hot weapon.” If any of the girls she had “captured” in her past life as a game protagonist got serious with her, she might be reduced to a puddle before she ever made a move on them.
She wasn’t sure what exactly she was imagining, but the blush on Su Li’s face deepened, spreading all the way to the tips of her ears.
Meanwhile, outside the fitting room, Li Yitong waited with a pleased smile on her face. Judging by Su Li’s reactions just now, she was pretty sure she had discovered another of Su Li’s sensitive spots.
She thought to herself—maybe discovering all of Su Li’s weak points could be a fun little mission of its own.
Just then, Su Li, still changing clothes, gave an involuntary shiver. A bad feeling crept up her spine. She shook her head gently—surely she was just overthinking things… right?
After a long while, Su Li finally finished her “being treated like Nuan Nuan” time. And thanks to Li Yitong’s coaxing (Or rather, justification), she ended up buying two new dresses. In truth, Su Li had actually wanted to buy them. Otherwise, no matter how persuasive Li Yitong was, she wouldn’t have budged.
What truly drove her decision was that she wanted to prove to Li Yitong that she genuinely liked wearing dresses—to reduce the likelihood of being mistaken as a “reincarnator.”
Whether it would work or not was another matter, but not doing anything at all definitely wouldn’t help. Just a bit of money—if it could lower the chances of being seen as a reincarnator, it was well worth it.
Putting her thoughts aside, Su Li gave a sweet, adorable smile and asked, “Hey, aren’t you going to buy anything?”
“I will~ But it’s already lunchtime. Let’s go eat first. We’ve got the whole afternoon ahead of us~”
The moment she heard “afternoon shopping,” Su Li’s heart sank. But she had no choice. In her experience, shopping with girls never ended in just one morning—unless the girl was a rare exception.
“In that case, I’ll leave it to you to pick the lunch spot.”
“Mmm~ I know this area well. Leave it to me.”
As the two chatted, neither of them noticed that behind them, Ling Luo was hiding in a nearby corner. She squinted her eyes at Li Yitong, surprised that the girl had actually spent the entire morning in just one store. Good thing she hadn’t left early.
Now it looked like the two were heading to lunch. All she had to do was follow, wait for them to enter a restaurant, and then walk in a little after—pretending to bump into them by chance. After that, she’d find a way to wedge herself into their group.
At the thought of this, a sly smile tugged at the corners of Ling Luo’s lips.
What Ling Luo didn’t notice, however, was that not far away, inside a nearby café, Shen Qingxia was seated behind the glass, silently watching Su Li’s every move.
