Chapter 25: One Bite At A Time, One Step At A Time
“Looks like Xiao Li’s getting more and more skilled at teaching~”
Su Li had just stepped out of the classroom after finishing a lesson when she saw Li Yitong waiting outside. She had been standing there since the start of class, quietly watching Su Li teach.
Honestly, there was no way Su Li wasn’t nervous. But in truth, that nervousness was exactly what she needed.
After all, she was a brand-new teacher who had only been on the job for a few days. It would be strange if she didn’t seem a bit anxious. And Li Yitong’s presence helped make that nervousness feel all the more authentic.
This—was exactly what Su Li had aimed for.
She firmly believed that, with her acting skills, she could absolutely bluff her way through all this. As for anyone suspecting that she was a reborn person? Impossible. Logically speaking…
…Actually, forget logic. Saying that felt like she was jinxing herself. Better not risk it.
Su Li responded with a shy, perfectly-timed smile. “Not at all… I still have a lot to improve on. I’ll work even harder from now on!”
“In my eyes, Xiao Li’s already doing great,” Li Yitong replied warmly as she reached out to gently tidy a strand of Su Li’s hair.
Su Li blinked. That gesture felt… ambiguous. And she had a strong suspicion that Li Yitong was doing it on purpose. But what her exact intentions were, Su Li couldn’t say for sure.
While adjusting Su Li’s hair, Li Yitong’s gaze discreetly flicked into the classroom—right toward Shen Qingxia, who was seated in the front row.
With how intently Shen Qingxia had been watching Su Li, she definitely saw the whole thing.
Just as expected, Li Yitong noticed a faint shift in Shen Qingxia’s otherwise calm expression. For someone with a personality as placid as hers, only Su Li could cause any real emotional ripple.
Now, with a little prodding from her… what might Shen Qingxia do next?
As the thought crossed her mind, Li Yitong’s gaze landed on someone else in the room: Li Zi.
She, too, was one of the girls Su Li had once “captured.”
So naturally, Li Yitong kept an eye on her as well. But Li Zi had always been too quiet, too normal. She blended in completely—just another average student on the surface.
Still, Li Yitong doubted it was really that simple. She had time. She’d just watch and wait.
Inside the classroom, Li Zi sat near the window, looking toward the door and the two figures outside. Both of them were her former teachers, and one of them… had even shared something intimate with her.
But that was all in the past.
All she had to do now was focus on herself. As for Su Li? She didn’t care.
Or at least, that’s what she kept telling herself. But despite her intentions, her eyes often drifted to Su Li without warning. She even found herself subconsciously comparing this Su Li to the Su Li from before her rebirth.
She had sworn to cut all ties… and yet…
With a sigh, Li Zi quietly pulled out a book and started reading.
Meanwhile, Su Li had returned to the office. After taking a sip of warm water, she exhaled deeply.
Her situation really did feel tragic.
Other people who were reborn got to start over from childhood, relive their school years, and fix past regrets. That kind of scenario was the stuff of hot-blooded youth and second chances.
But her? She was back to work on the second day of her rebirth. No school life, no youth drama—just straight into employment. To make matters worse, all the girls she’d once “captured” had been reborn too.
She’d even become some kind of humanized weapon when captured. It was all just… too terrifying.
Just then, a deep male voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Teacher Su, what’s with that sigh?”
She didn’t even need to turn around. That familiar voice could only belong to one person: Liu Jianqiang.
Putting on a neutral expression, Su Li turned slightly and replied, “Oh, it’s nothing. Just thinking about some things. No need to worry.”
“I see. Well, if you ever want to talk, feel free to come to me. I’m not great at comforting people, but I can be a good listener,” Liu Jianqiang said gently.
Su Li’s cute face stiffened slightly. What kind of soap opera line was that? Just hearing it gave her goosebumps.
And really—was that something you said to a girl you’d known for only a few days?
Even Su Li wouldn’t say something like that to someone she’d just met.
One bite at a time for food, one step at a time on the path.
Coming on this strong after just a few days… was Liu Jianqiang an idiot?
The proper way to go about this, Su Li thought, was to slowly build a friendship. Once you became normal friends, you’d have a natural shot at becoming close friends. And from there, maybe even something more.
That kind of steady approach wasn’t always ideal, but in this case? Definitely the smartest move.
“Really, it’s nothing,” Su Li said with a sweet, innocent smile. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be prepping my next class now.”
She immediately pulled out her textbook and notebook, pretending to study them with deep focus—at least on the surface, it looked very convincing.
Even though she hadn’t outright rejected him, her attitude clearly said not interested. Even someone like Liu Jianqiang could tell.
He sighed and returned to his seat.
Sure, Su Li was adorable—but her defenses were way too high. He’d spent the past couple of days trying to get closer to her, but every attempt had ended in failure.
Still, he wasn’t discouraged. He believed in one principle:
“Sincerity can move even the hardest stone.”
Someday, Su Li would accept his invitation. And when that day came—that would be his moment to shine.
From her desk, Su Li glanced over at him, a strange glint in her eye.
He probably thought that if he just kept trying, he’d eventually win her over.
But that was never going to happen.
As someone reborn, she had no interest in being “captured” by anyone—not by boys, not by girls.
……..
