Chapter 13: Full of Authority (Self-Proclaimed.)

“Riiing—!”

As the lunch bell rang, Su Li stretched lazily. Morning classes were over, which meant it was finally time to eat. Now the question was—where to eat lunch today?

Just as Su Li was getting lost in thought, Li Yitong’s voice rang out from nearby:

“Teacher Su, are you waiting for me so we can eat together?”

“Eh!?”

Su Li blinked, clearly caught off guard by the question. She hadn’t expected Li Yitong to say something like that.

But thinking about it, it wasn’t too hard to figure out—Liu Jianqiang must’ve told her about that little lunch plan Su Li had made up on the spot earlier.

In all fairness, that had just been a random excuse she tossed out…

Still, with Li Yitong already bringing it up, there was no backing out. Guess they’d be having lunch together after all.

With that in mind, Su Li put on her most adorable smile and said cheerfully, “I was just about to come find you, Miss Li! Do you know any good restaurants around here? As a thank you for the recommendation, lunch is on me today!”

As she said this, Su Li unconsciously reached into her pocket. No wallet. But her brain could already hear the pitiful wail of her savings.

She really didn’t have much money right now. If she didn’t start budgeting properly, she’d have no choice but to rely on the school cafeteria…

It wasn’t that the cafeteria food was bad. Some dishes were actually pretty decent.

But after three long years of eating the same few rotating meals, Su Li had practically memorized the entire menu. Just the thought of going back made her sigh.

Li Yitong smiled lightly and replied, “Well, since teacher Su is being so generous, how could I refuse? I do know a few good spots nearby.”

“Then I’ll be counting on you, Miss Li.”

After tidying up her desk, Su Li followed Li Yitong out of the school building. The moment the two appeared together, they instantly drew the attention of passing students.

But Su Li, though still not entirely used to it, did her best to ignore the curious stares.

A few steps out the school gate, Su Li noticed someone following behind her—not too close, but not too far either.

Shen Qingxia.

Even without turning around, Su Li could feel the heat of her gaze—intense, almost feverish. It sent a chill through her.

Still, she wasn’t too worried. She hadn’t done anything suspicious. As long as Shen Qingxia didn’t find out she was a reborn person, things should be fine… right?

Noticing something off in Su Li’s expression, Li Yitong glanced over and asked kindly, “Teacher Su, is something wrong?”

“N-no, nothing. Let’s go.”

The two walked on for a while longer. Su Li kept a quiet eye on Shen Qingxia, who continued following at a distance, her intentions unclear.

Li Yitong had noticed her too.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

Judging by Shen Qingxia’s behavior, things were getting closer and closer to what she had suspected. If her guess was right, and Shen Qingxia really was one of the girls Su Li had “captured” in the past, then…

What about the others?

Su Li herself—could it be that she too had been reborn?

Could Su Li actually be “Su Li”—or rather, **Su Li from before”?

Well, there was time. If this rebirth wasn’t a dream, then she had plenty of time to find out.

After a while, the two arrived at a small restaurant.

Whether it was by accident, or accidents, the restaurant just so happened to be—Li Zi’s place.

If Su Li remembered correctly, Li Yitong almost never came here. Now, she suddenly picked this place? Su Li couldn’t help but feel that something was fishy.

Still, she wasn’t worried. After all, she had survived far more intense harem crossfire scenarios in her previous life… or well, as a man.

Now she was technically a woman. Small detail. Either way, she was confident she wouldn’t get exposed.

Of course, there was always the chance she was just overthinking it. If so, all the better.

The moment Su Li and Li Yitong stepped into the restaurant, Shen Qingxia followed in behind them.

Su Li didn’t even flinch.

She had already expected this much. Honestly, at this point, if she walked into the men’s bathroom, Shen Qingxia would probably follow her in too.

That stalker-like obsession was seriously unnerving.

“Teacher?”

The sudden voice yanked Su Li out of her thoughts. She instinctively opened her mouth to speak but forced herself to stop just in time.

The voice belonged to Li Zi.

Just now, she’d nearly blurted out “Pear-chan” like she used to call her in the past. Close one.

That close call made Su Li painfully aware of just how dangerous habits could be. Even after rebirth, old habits didn’t vanish. If she wasn’t careful, she’d accidentally reveal something she wasn’t supposed to.

Some habits didn’t matter. But others—like how she referred to Li Zi—definitely couldn’t slip out.

Silently repeating “I’m just the new teacher” a few times to calm herself, Su Li forced a smile that was full of (self-perceived) majestic teacherly authority, and said:

“Li Zi, you’re surprised to see your teacher, aren’t you?”

What she really meant was: Still remember calling me little sister yesterday at lunch?

Su Li was still not over that.

“My sincerest apologies. I didn’t know you were a teacher back then,” Li Zi said, a bit flustered.

Li Yitong, catching the exchange, tilted her head curiously. “Teacher Su, you’ve been here before?”

“Yes. I came here for lunch yesterday.”

“Well, what a coincidence~”

Li Yitong gave Li Zi a thoughtful look. If memory served her right, Su Li had “captured” Li Zi in her previous life too. So… did Li Zi possibly…?

Though nothing seemed out of the ordinary now, Li Yitong mentally noted it down. If things turned out the way she expected, then this whole reincarnation deal was going to get very interesting.

“Well, let’s have lunch here then,” Su Li said, already taking a seat. “I tried it yesterday—the food’s pretty good.”

She opened the menu and flipped through it seriously, like she was genuinely focused on picking her lunch.

“I’ll have the fish-flavored eggplant, a plate of stir-fried Chinese lettuce, and a scrambled egg dish. Large portions for all of them. Don’t make it too salty.”
