Chapter 12: Patchouli ♂ GO
“Teacher, are you really twenty-five? You totally don’t look like it!”
“Teacher, you don’t have a boyfriend, right? What about me…?”
“Teacher, can I pinch your cheek?”
…
To be honest, Su Li was a bit dumbfounded by the current situation.
Why is the me in this world so popular? Back in her previous life, on this exact same day, not a single student came up to ask her these kinds of questions when she finished class.
Same person—why is the difference so big?
Right now, to an outside observer, Su Li looked just like a helpless little lamb surrounded by a pack of wolves, complete with the visual vibe of a “scared emoji.”
The truth was, she was simply overwhelmed by the barrage of questions from her students and couldn’t keep up with answering them all. Honestly, some of their questions were just a little too spicy—if this were ancient times, they’d be dunked in pig cages!
Just then, a voice rang out. It was Li Yitong.
She looked calmly at the circle of chattering students and said, “Alright, how long do you all plan on surrounding your teacher Su like this? That’s enough already.”
As the homeroom teacher, Li Yitong still had some authority. After her words, the crowd finally dispersed, and Su Li was successfully extracted from her encirclement.
Walking alongside Li Yitong toward the office, Su Li let out a long sigh and whispered, “Thank you for that, Miss Li.”
In truth, it wouldn’t have been too hard for Su Li to get herself out of the situation, but she figured Li Yitong would step in eventually—and she had been right. Still, these students were really enthusiastic.
“It’s nothing. But honestly,” Li Yitong chuckled, “Teacher Su, you’re really popular, huh? Even I wasn’t welcomed that warmly when I first arrived. I’m feeling kinda hurt.”
Though she said she was hurt, her smiling face betrayed nothing of the sort. It felt more like she was teasing.
Su Li, sensing an opportunity, cautiously asked, “Um… Miss Li, how did I do just now?”
“You were great. Way better than I was when I first started. Honestly, the way you teach already feels like someone with years of experience.”
Su Li’s heart skipped a beat.
Was that a casual comment? Or… deliberate?
She couldn’t tell. But it definitely sent a chill down her spine.
“O-oh, not at all! Miss Li, you don’t know how nervous I was earlier. With all those eyes staring at me… I’m just glad I didn’t mess anything up.” Su Li patted her chest as she spoke, putting on a face like she’d just survived a great ordeal.
Too bad she didn’t have anything left to jiggle.
“No need to be nervous. You’ll get used to it soon. Anyway, I’ve got to get ready for class.”
Back in the teachers’ office, Li Yitong grabbed the materials she had prepared in advance and left.
Su Li watched her go, exhaling deeply again. Whenever she was around Li Yitong, she had to stay on guard. There were always tiny traps hidden in her words, and if she wasn’t careful, she’d get herself killed—figuratively or even literally.
This was just one reborn person to deal with. If more started popping up later…
Absolute chaos!
Just as her thoughts were starting to spiral, a figure approached her desk. Broad-shouldered, beaming—who else could it be but Liu Jianqiang?
He smiled and said, “Teacher Su, I bet you’re still unfamiliar with the campus, right? I don’t have any classes this morning—how about I show you around?”
If Su Li still didn’t understand what he was implying, then she might as well hand in her license as a veteran “sensei-chan.”
Let’s be honest—she’d always been the one flirting with others. This was the first time someone tried to flirt with her, and it was a guy, no less. Give me a break!
Immediately, her head was flooded with philosophically cursed imagery:
“Patchouli ♂ GO”
“Obediently ♂ stand still”
“Ah ♂”
Forcing herself to keep her composure, Su Li put on an appropriately apologetic expression and said, “Mr. Liu, I’m really sorry. Miss Li already gave me a tour yesterday, so I’m mostly familiar with the place. Plus, I’ve got to prep for class. I really appreciate the offer though.”
“N-no worries,” Liu Jianqiang stammered a bit. “How about lunch then? There’s a great little spot nearby. I’ll treat you—my treat!”
Su Li’s expression shifted to a gentle awkwardness, like she was genuinely regretful. “Ah… About that, I actually already made lunch plans with Miss Li. I’m so sorry.”
Internally, she was ready to hand herself a little golden statuette for her acting skills. She nearly applauded herself.
She was pretty sure if Li Yitong ever found out, she’d totally cover for her.
This time, Liu Jianqiang had nothing left to say. After mumbling a few words, he muttered, “W-well, maybe next time then.”
“Mmm, if there’s a chance.”
Once he was gone, Su Li’s ‘shy little girl’ façade instantly crumbled. She slumped across her desk like a salted fish that had lost all will to dream.
Wait a second, she thought. Wasn’t Liu Jianqiang a hardcore admirer of Li Yitong before? Why’s he trying to hit on me now?
Then again, it made sense.
Before her rebirth, the office only had one pretty young female teacher—Li Yitong. Of course he had no other targets. It’s not like he’d go after the married teachers.
But now? A cute new girl just showed up in the office?
Yeah, it tracks.
Su Li squinted at the door and muttered to herself: “This dude’s probably a lolicon…”
She shook her head and forced herself to stop thinking nonsense. Right now, she had to prep for class. Just because a teacher didn’t have class didn’t mean they were off the clock.
If she wanted her classes to be engaging and lively, she had to prepare carefully for each one.
Back when she first started teaching in her previous life, lesson prep had been a nightmare. She didn’t want to follow rigid, outdated teaching methods.
Even if she wasn’t going to reinvent the wheel, at the very least she could sprinkle in some memes or slang to make things more relatable and keep the students engaged.
Once she got her prep done, she could slack off a little—or prep a few extra classes in advance, like stockpiling novel chapters.
Of course, just like manuscripts, lessons sometimes had to be edited on the fly. If the story changed, the backlog had to change too.

Meanwhile, in Class 1-3’s classroom, Li Yitong was teaching while observing her students.
Eventually, her eyes landed on Shen Qingxia—and Shen Qingxia’s gaze was already quietly fixed on her.
It was hard to say whether their eyes had met by chance or if some silent communication was taking place between them.
