Chapter 10: Opening Ceremony

Just thinking about the extra information that had appeared in her mind, Su Li now felt an overwhelming sense of distrust toward her surroundings.

Who knew—maybe after the reborn ones, there’d be someone with a system next, or even an old wise grandpa popping up out of nowhere.

As her thoughts ran wild, a cheerful male voice called out, “Good morning, Teacher Li! Is this the new transfer student for your class?”

The speaker was a young male teacher with a muscular build, like a personal trainer—one of the school’s PE teachers. His name was Liu Jianqiang, a suitor of Li Yitong… and someone Su Li had once crushed underfoot.

Su Li gave Liu Jianqiang a sidelong glance. What did he mean by transfer student? She was a new teacher, okay? A teacher! Why was everyone’s first reaction upon seeing her always to assume she was a student!?

“She’s the new teacher, Miss Su Li. Not a student,” Li Yitong corrected calmly.

“Huh!?”

The moment her words landed, the staff office fell into stunned silence. Even the balding teacher who had been reading the newspaper looked up, his eyes settling on Su Li, clearly curious about their new colleague.

Li Yitong cleared her throat lightly and said, “Although Miss Su looks… well, rather young, she’s the same age as me.”

Sensing the timing was right, Su Li began her self-introduction to the other teachers in the office.

She had prepared her lines beforehand and could have delivered them fluently, but given that she was playing a rookie, a little nervous stammering wouldn’t hurt.

After she finished, a round of enthusiastic applause filled the room.

Su Li secretly pursed her lips in annoyance. She still remembered clearly—on this very day before her rebirth, when she’d first reported for duty and given a self-introduction, it had been even more impressive than this… and yet the applause had been tepid at best.

But now? Why was the treatment so drastically different?

“I know some of you may want to ask Miss Su a few questions,” Li Yitong interjected just as Liu Jianqiang made a move to come over.

“But the principal called for a morning meeting. We should get that over with first—questions can wait until afterward.”

As she spoke, Li Yitong gave Liu Jianqiang a cold glance. Honestly, she’d had her eye on this one.

Now he had the nerve to strike up a conversation with her, right in front of her face? Did he think she was invisible?

Whether this Su Li was the same Su Li as before or not, she wouldn’t let anyone else have her.

Though young, Li Yitong’s words carried weight. She was, after all, the granddaughter of the school’s senior principal. Add her looks, friendly personality, and good relationships with her colleagues, and it was natural for others to give her face.

Su Li glanced at the woman beside her. This definitely wasn’t the same Li Yitong from before. The Li Yitong from her past would never have said something like that.

The idea of working next to this version of Li Yitong made Su Li feel a little uneasy.

But there wasn’t time to dwell on it—the morning meeting was about to start. Su Li grabbed her notebook and followed Li Yitong to the conference room.

The room was spacious and already filling with teachers. The elderly principal was present—still full of energy despite his age—and so was the head teacher, a stern-faced middle-aged man.

Not the stereotypical balding, overweight kind from some novels, but a highly responsible figure, Su Li had always respected. Even if, back then, she’d often gotten scolded to the point of trauma.

The meeting’s agenda was simple: important reminders for the first day of school. Su Li jotted everything down meticulously.

Once the morning meeting ended, it was time for the opening ceremony. Yes, that long-winded, painfully boring school opening ceremony.

As a homeroom teacher, Li Yitong went to organize her class. Su Li followed the other faculty into the auditorium.

She had to admit—Liu Jianqiang was seriously annoying. He kept trying to strike up conversation like he couldn’t even see how disinterested she was. No wonder he never found a girlfriend, not even on the day she died.

The guy couldn’t read the room if his life depended on it.

Finally, after an eternity, the opening ceremony began. Even teachers couldn’t skip it, but thankfully, the principal’s speech was refreshingly brief—nothing like the long-winded clichés from her student days.

Su Li casually glanced around and spotted Li Yitong not far off, sitting quietly with her usual faint smile. Just looking at her gave people a sense of warmth.

But in Su Li’s eyes, Li Yitong was far too dangerous.

After all, she was a reborn one too.

Still, the most eye-catching person wasn’t Li Yitong—it was Su Li herself. With her petite frame and youthful face, she looked like a middle schooler at most, perhaps a new high school freshman. Yet here she was, seated among the faculty.

That alone spoke volumes.

Students throughout the auditorium whispered to one another, trying to guess which class this “mysterious little teacher” belonged to.

Su Li ignored all the stares. While it felt awkward now, it was only a matter of time before they got used to her presence.

The principal’s speech might’ve been brief, but the head teacher’s was anything but. He went on and on, the kind of speech that made you want to nod off.

Su Li thanked the heavens she’d gotten enough sleep the night before—otherwise, she’d be asleep already.

After him came the student representative’s speech… then more speeches. Through it all, Su Li’s expression hardly changed.

Patience was an essential skill when it came to wooing girls, and speeches like these? Child’s play for someone like her.

Only after the second period did the ceremony finally end.

As soon as she stood up, Li Yitong approached with a smile. “So, how was it? Sitting in the teachers’ row for the opening ceremony?”

“Hm… a little exciting, I guess,” Su Li replied, her innocent tone perfectly portraying a newly minted teacher, full of youthful anticipation and confidence.

“I felt the same way back then,” Li Yitong said warmly. “By the way, your first class is next. Is Su-sensei ready for her debut?”

“Yup, all prepped—but still a little nervous,” Su Li answered.

“No need to be! I’ll be right outside, watching over you.”

“Thanks.”

Su Li glanced at her, certain Li Yitong just wanted to see if she’d slip up in the middle of her lesson. But it didn’t matter—she wouldn’t give her the chance.

Back in the office, Su Li began preparing for her class. The first lesson was mostly introductory—meeting the students, letting them know her teaching methods, and getting acquainted.

Even though she wasn’t actually nervous, she had to look the part. Back in the day, she’d tried so hard to appear calm while her heart pounded like mad.

Minute by minute, time ticked forward. The bell rang.

Su Li, already ready, picked up her materials and followed Li Yitong to the classroom door.

Class 1-3, Year One.

A familiar class. Teaching first-years right off the bat was due to her credentials. A graduate of a prestigious teaching university—if not for her lack of experience, she might’ve been thrown straight into teaching seniors.

So far, everything was progressing exactly as it had in her previous life—except for the added chaos of fellow reborn individuals.

Su Li now marked all the girls she’d previously seduced with a mental note: Reborn.

Some probably wouldn’t react even if they knew the truth, but others…

If they found out, it’d be game over—bloodshed, or worse.

And she didn’t want either ending.

So before she was exposed—or seduced—Su Li had to seduce all the girls who might be after her first.

She took a deep breath… and stepped into the classroom.
